Haven't had time yet -- I need to take a break at some point 14 hours @ the shop yesterday... and several hours today.
-
End of November is the ETA (estimated time of arrival).
-
There are alot of knobs on it
-
4 cubes ported is the smallest I suggest
-
They are DEEP... like I said, I will measure exactly to be sure I am 100% accurate when it arrives.
-
When I actually put the pre-order up I will provide an ETA -- and it is just that, ESTIMATED... I will make that clear again in the pre-sale post. They can be early and they can be late.
-
The prototype is D2... I plan to offer D2 and D4
-
Looking at a pre-sale price of around $119 shipped + qty discounts ! So... 1x SA-8 = $119 2x SA-8 = $109 each 4x or more SA-8 = $99 each Shipped in continental 48 states cost.

At 1 ohm on a 12v system with only one amp... performance is on par with the SAZ-1500D and maximum current draw is similar. With the SAZ-1500D you gain the ability to run 18v, strap amps, and run under 1 ohm for competitions.
-
The SA-12 is ~26 lbs and this won't be a whole lot lighter... motor is only 10mm narrower.
-
Linear x-max is closer to ~16mm or so by 70% BL -- the triple joint will hit frame / top plate at around 20mm or so... so it's pretty much linear up until right before the frame runs out of room.
-
Bit more information... motor is based on the SA-12 (10 and 15 are the same as well) but reduced magnet OD by 10mm and the coil to 2" from 2.5" so a decent sized spider could be used. Due to the smaller coil rating dropped to 400 RMS... but it retains all of the cooling features of the bigger SA drivers. This motor is unique to the SA-8 only -- none of our other drivers share it. Travel is limited by the frame to around ~20mm each way... which is alot on an 8" driver.
-
I haven't tested it yet... but the design isn't a whole lot different from the SA-12 except having a smaller cone and using a 2" coil rather than 2.5" -- so I'd say it would sound great. Price is TBA.
-
400 RMS I suggest small ported... it's not as good sealed as the E8 was, but better ported. 0.4-0.6 ported tuned to 30-40 Hz will be sick.
-
It's big... just narrow enough that you can use the terminals and mount it easily.
-
We do not = SSA People get that confused alot Anyway... we have been very busy for the last few months ship time is up to 2-3 business days.
-
Possibly... out of frames.

I'll throw up a few pics tomorrow. We still have it in the ghetto test box, but it actually sounds quite good... two 1500s strapped @ 2 ohms are powering it, I have my primary battery, factory alternator, and two Powermaster D3100s backing them up. Metered 144.1 dB @ 52 Hz in the test box - which is really terrible on the meter - same box in the YouTube videos of the monster. I'd like to get it into a smaller box and strap the 1500s down really low and see what she'll do - then strap some 3000s on it What surprised me the most is how good it sounds - obviously its not an SQ woofer but, it sounds quite good. Certainly does not sound like an extreme fart-cannon sub by any means! Now, that will all change when we test the 12-layer coil... but the 8-layer is *definitely* daily friendly even with the extreme 5-spider pack in place. With me behind the controls the sub is not sweating at all with the two 1500s on it. I'll have to break out the ear plugs and really give it a run.
-
Should be interesting when completed !
-
With 8-9 cubes rear two 18s would work well, IMO. Tuning sounds like a good starting point... although, large 6th orders are a great deal of trial and error.
-
Indeed -- that could be it.
-
The SAE-1000D was still made in the same factory as the SAZ series -- the SAZ version has beefier power supply parts and a thicker casing. Starting with the SAE-1200D we moved the SAE line to a different factory.

Most of the technology from this prototype will be included in the Nightshade v.2 next year.

12kw is a bit much for someone who is not an experienced SPL competitor to use on 8 of the SA-12s If you go sealed you only need 8 cubes for 8 of the SA-12s... 12 cubes is enough room to port them.
