Motors are on the way. I am guessing 4-6 weeks.
-
Unless it was one of the units sold on e-bay with 90-days you would still be covered.
-
Any of my subs below the Nightshade sound VERY good -- and the Nightshade doesn't sound bad But... to more accurately answer you question -- I am working on a new 1000-watt line that will be the "best" Sound Quality driver in the line. Sorry, no ETA yet.
-
E is basically "Entry Level" line
-
400 RMS rated

Perhaps the gain knob or circuit is messed up -- dB-R may have a better answer, although, this is not an issue I have seen before.

I was caught up for a few days but have a back log again... so if you haven't heard back from me yet expect a reply Monday - Tuesday.
-
Sorry guys - backed up again. I am going to let everyone in on why that is : 1) My e-mail volume in 2009 *so far* is two times higher than what I got in 2008 all year long. 2) I have been in the process of buying a new home for several weeks now, this takes up alot of time. 3) As many of you know I have a son - he is now 8 months old - so I can't do much e-mail at home these days. 4) Flu season came through... I got sick after MECA finals, that took me out of work completely for a day and slowed me down for a few more. 5) We are busier than ever - and I do alot of other things besides e-mails. Lots of new things in development... uses up alot of my attention and time. All in all... sorry for the delays ! Today won't help much... I have to head out early to take care of some business and my e-mail box already has well over 100 messages that need replies. I will do as many as possible this morning !

D4s are getting really low... have a good bit of D2.
-
Weird... does it act normally playing music ?

Shorting rings are clear powder coated as well -- can't really tell any difference except they feel smooth and look a little glossy :
-
As promised here are pictures of the triple joint ring (this is why I added 10mm of spacing with the shorting ring) : * The ridge part faces the winding... gets filled with glue. * Another view. Made in Concord, NC from a very high temperature material... takes ~530 degrees to mold it and they tell me that unless I get it up to around 500 or so it won't deform from the formed shape. Simple part... but should help alot with excessive abuse. I am planning to round the edge that touches the spider as well to keep it from sawing into the spider over time.

FYI... the 71mm long standard coil will be 1.0 / 1.9 DCR for D1 / D2 configurations. Coil of choice for daily beating right here. I will work on a bit shorter coil version for the 0.7 / 1.4 crowd... likely around 56mm or so on those. These will be for guys trying to get DCR down for SPL applications.
-
Correct.
-
A coil this long out of copper would be way too heavy, IMO... so I don't think I would do it. Maybe a shorter version.
-
They are originals from the factory -- if you need some please e-mail me.
-
I have sample v.2 coils being made now... few weeks.
-
... but seriously -- the new coil would make it handle more power.
-
It will be more awesome-er *laughs*
-
The coil is compatible... so yah, we can re-cone the v.1 with the v.2 coil.
-
I do not suggest getting an overly hard spider for anyone... SPL or daily. The Z v.2 suspension will be much softer than the NS v.1 -- the NS v.2 will be almost identical to the NS v.1 stiffness -- it is more than stiff enough for 99% of applications.
-
2000 RMS is conservative for the Nightshade v.2 -- it is taking power handling to a whole new level from the v.1 model. The Z v.2, on the other hand, was designed to do the most possible with it's rated 1500 watts... I've broken a 150 with 1500 clamped watts on the prototype model already !
-
I expect the prototype motor soon for the v.2 Nightshade... depends on how testing goes and how close it is to my simulations.
-
Pretty much everything... motor is all new design, coil is all new design as well. Suspension will remain pretty well the same, though, as the Nightshade suspension was capable of handling far more than the rated 1500 RMS. The v.1 uses a 42mm coil from the original run... and later we changed to a 50mm coil. The v.2 will use a 71mm long coil... plus cooling based on our "Monster" prototype so I expect dramatically higher thermal power handling.
