The amps are done - so pre-order is OVER. Few pictures of complete production run amps / cartons :
-
Prototype motor is *supposed* to be here tomorrow too... so I should have more pics of it as well @ that time.
-
The coil : Left to Right : Monster D1 coil, NS v.2 D2 Coil, NS v.1 D1 Coil It is a good bit heavier than the v.1 NS coil but about 15 grams of that is in the former as it is double thickness material. Still 15g lighter than the Monster coil The "standard" coil is very long... I will also be offering a 56mm version with 0.7 / 1.4 DCR... the long coils are 1.0 / 1.8 DCR.

Remote Gain Controls and Such??? Do you use'em or no
sundownz replied to smullen's topic in Sundown Audio
Correct ! -
what price range will the sa-15 be around? any t/s specs? Specs will be a bit different on the production 15" but pretty close to that... I changed the cone to a bit thicker version. They will be price just a bit more than the 12s

We also didn't turn it up all the way -- we stopped when the sub didn't want to move any farther. Amps don't put out their full power constantly -- depends on where you set the gain, volume control, etc. And yes, the box does have a good bit of rise too.
-
That is correct - primarily from the extra mass of the heavier cone as it gets larger.
-
they cant handle more than that?Or is it not recommended? That is the official rating -- if you run more power it's up to you.
-
They are 400 watts RMS.
-
This setup is loudest with the door open - it was designed for this application which is called "Outlaw" --- We have an SAZ-3500D @ 1 ohm on it... probably 1200-1700 actual watts if I had to guess.
-
We got it 150.2 dB this time by sealing up the port panel and running the speaker wire out of a drilled hole (sealed with silicone) rather than out the port :
-
Been slacking... I'll get back on eventually !
-
We got it up to 68 Hz but still did 149.9 dB again -- we have a few more ideas for tomorrow. Need to seal up the port plate (I gained a bunch doing this in my dual 8" box) and a few other things: * Just duct tape sealing it right now.
-
They accept 8 "AWG standard" wire -- but not car audio stranded 8 awg. You can get the highly stranded 12 awg car audio wire in there no problem -- bigger sizes need trimmed.
-
I guess I never did measure the specs... so I did it today : RE: 3.55 ohms FS: 45.8 Hz Qes: 0.366 Qms: 6.44 Qts: 0.346 Le: 3.25 mH Vas: 5.97 L BL: 23.69 N/A Cms: 59.92 uM/N Mms: 200g
-
I played it for a bit longer than the video and it was fine -- but I still don't suggest a 1500D @ 1 ohm on an SA series woofer
-
I should have my prototype in hand next week... likely by Wednesday or so. Then I'll get some pictures of it put together as a 15 before I drop it in my Jeep!
-
Okay guys - more news ! Just got off the phone. This is the deal... they were in a container with something else that was in violation of customs regulations... so they held the whole container up rather than unloading all the other stuff in it. I wasn't told that this was the reason for delay until yesterday after my previous update. Would have been nice for the customs people to have been more up front rather than promising dates and missing them. ANYWAY... they released everything now and I am expecting them Monday - Tuesday. Will take a few days to ship them all out... so they should all be shipped by Friday next week.

From: Christmas / New Years Sale on SAZ-1500Ds / SAZ-2000Ds
sundownz replied to The enD's topic in Test 1, 2, 3...
I have a used 1500D thread in the forum. -
I still have some -- I actually got more in from trade-ins so supply is healthy

These all have original boxes + remotes. They are all "new case" style amps. Cosmetic condition varies slightly between them. ONE YEAR warranty included. $350 shipped each in continental USA. These are USED amplifiers... they are not NEW. Cosmetic imperfections are a given... if you plan to complain about any small cosmetic blemishes don't buy them. I will say it again... these are not new and are not necessarily mint condition. * Tape was applied to the face of this amp, you could scrub the adhesive off.

Xmax is very important for low-end extension, yes.
-
They will not be in today... I raised some hell with them on the phone as the amps have been sitting in the USA since the 20th... but for some reason they can't get together and send them to me.

Tough call really...
