Upcoming Shows in Illinois, bringing CA Back.
ripper replied to ripper's topic in Competitions & Other Organized SPL/SQ Events
it's not all about the sanction right now though. when it comes to Car audio in illinois, there really hasnt been much the past few years. the last i remember was a few shows in quincy for usaci, which ther eare 7 shows listed at the same place this year, a few local shows in springfield, and then one dbdrag two years ago. theres just not much going on in illinois with it. -
yes they did think they were the chit. then they re-ran and didnt even do a 146 on the AC. i bet they were like yeah i remeber when i ran through i was afraid i was gonan burn somthing up becasue i had liek no voltage lol i think at idle i was at 11 lol. then i couldnt hear my engine and bout burnt it up from revin it at like 6000 rpm the whole time lol lol that sucks. i def want to come hear this when its done though. hopefully i will have my build for my 4 SE 12s done by then, right now im playing with only two of the SE's with a 6 inch aero. but currently i still work for circuit city...so im holding off on buying the other two until i get another job lined up...just gotta prepare for the worst you know. your gonna have to send me your number sometime. theres quite a few people local enough with us that will be competing this year. maybe we can get a small group to go together.

haha hell idk i was probably in my own world lolll was your ride there? yes it was. i was running the two Atomic APX 10s on my atomic 5k. on their meter, which was AC to anyone who is reading this btw, i did a 154 flat. its funny because in that class second place was like 144 then it jumped to my 154. On my TL though i was just shy of 150, 149.4 =(. yeah man i think i remeber that..did u have a white truck??? haha remeber that one car that they screwed the meter up and its jumped to the 162? lol i have a white mitsubishi eclipse. yes i remember that. the car was from alpha omega. it had 4 8 inch woofers in it. it was funny because SOMETHING had to screw up because when it reran it did like no more then a 147 on the meter. there is no way that it did the 162...NO WAY. i dont care what anyone says. everyone thought it was all awesome, but i was just standing back like yeah right... this is my car

well i reconed the second apx 10 yesterday and decided to build the box today. i actually went and drove on the interstate to see how it sounded. the box is 4.25 cu ft after all displacements with two 4 inch aero ports. i do need to add more bracings to the top and bottom pieces though. i will be doing the added bracing tomorrow. I have two braces in the box now. In the last pic it only shows one, but i have one right next to that brace going from the top to bottom.
-
the sub without the X on it was the reconed one and it sounds find. i played it free-air on tones and in a single 10 box on tones. and there is absolutly no rub. and thanks for asking about the car because i did get a new car. which means i need new SSA Stickers!!!! i had the older SSA stickers on my grand am since i bought the SSA Icon.

with the recommended enclosure? what were you burping at?

My setup for the next season will include: 2 Kicker zx 2500.1 amplifiers wired @ 2 ohm each 2 AudioQue HDC3 12s, d1 vcs Northstar NSB 90 in stock location. 200 amp Alternator, rebuilt intown. I have a box design that I got directly from Steven Sears, whom is the Team Captain of Team High X-cursion. He told me he had someone on his team with 3 10s hitting in the 150s the TL in a Grand Am, and yes I have a Grand Am. He is very knowledgable on trunk vehicles. I plan to only use both kicker amplifiers during shows, and one for daily on a 4 ohm load. I will be selling my 2 audioque sd8s, and when my American Bass 120.1 gets back from being serviced it will be for sale as well. Tell Me what you think!!!
-
i already got my first bnib 2500.1
-
that is correct, but as long as i stick to the amount of port area he gave me on the this plan, testing AFTER this box will be alot easier. this just gets me a great place to start at.
-
Very nice work.

Im glad you were able to get everything takin care of man. This is Dustin BTW. just a different name on here because someone already had my other name on this forum =P Take Care.

I actually have a few questions. I have two different box ides. If I build a box with the sub facing UP, and fire the port into the car, will i lose spl? And as well, if i build a box with the Sub facing UP, and the port facing up, will I have a greater, or same as the bass response from firing the sub to the rear of the trunk. In other words, will facing the port in a different direction then the sub, affect the spl factor of the sub.
-
i was thinking about doing that actually...but im doing two shows soon, one the 23rd of this month, and another show next month sometime. i will post up numbers when i get them... but my epic center 150 is showing 147 db as my peak for music. give or take 4 dbs softer to the real mic, i figure around 142-143 on music is what im hitting, but like i said thats only on the epic center so i will list real numbers when i get them.
-
This is my second build for the BTL 15 i have. IT is wired at 1.2 ohms power by my Mean Machine 3000.1, with an NSB90 in the trunk hooked directly to the alternator. Hope you enjoy. box is 3.5 cu ft tuned to 35 hz
-
the new box comes out to 4.09 cu ft after port and sub displacement, tuned to 40.94 hz. This is going to be my SPL box for my comp on Sunday July 8th. I have to mount the amps on the rear of box and cut the whole for sub so the box is not totally completed in the car yet. Heres some pics but the rest will come tomorrow. I will also post pics from the show and the numbers I did with the Icon 15 at the show sunday. But remember, im still not sure if its the perfect SPL box for the sub, so more testing is required, this isnt a sub everyone knows the best box to make for it like RE subs or SI subs. In my opinion this sub is great and I wish people would give it a chance.

thanks for all the views and comments!!! and i all do matter about is my opinion in all reality...it just bugs me that everyone has to argue about something or down something to up themselves
