IT IS COMPLETE!!! overall so far... seems like it hits the sweet spot a little better... I noticed the windshield wipers bouncin around a little more..Can't tell if it seems tuned higher though....??? ill give it a few days of bumpin around... I know the port should be in the back but thats the only way the box would fit in. For a second build im pretty proud of it.... Considering it matches up quite well with the 250 dollar box I had in there. Thanks for all the help to those who gave me advice!! Steve-o

UPDATE: Box is done... might not fit though.. somehow I made it 1/2" taller than I planned (was supopsed to be 1/2" shorter than the last box, leaving me with 1" of error) Sry I didnt get more pics up before the subs were mounted.... I used wood glue, silicon 2, and resin for all the edges and corners, so I can't imagine there being any leaks... Leave comments if you must. But keep in mind this is only my 2nd box

bump... middle brace assistance anybody? I gotta get this box done today
-
I've heard that it is better to have farther away then really close. I space them evenly with the box after the port. Actually just got done with my build today. 2 12" SSDs 4.5cbft tuned to about 33-34 Kicker ZX2500.1 Good luck with the rest of the build Get a vid up for that!.. Thats almost exactly what im gonna do if I don't like the way this box sounds..... 2500 on 2 SSD's sounds like much... think im gonna go for the Q's fully loaded

bump... anyone... I'd like to get this drawn out tonight

8:26 here... just got done with the port... Forgot to put glue on the bottom of it though, but it fit perfectly, so I just added glue to the sides just so there is no air gettin through there... DUHHHHHH. Well the sun is pretty much down, so I think im gonna call it quits... not a whole lot left to do besides cut out the holes, and put the top on. TO THOSE WHO ARE EXPERIENCED..... should I put the subs on the port side, or away from the port as much as possible??? Thanks guys

"It is 732 in the PM, and you're watchin Perspectives".... Just put in the corner brace to direct air flow... Man that was a pain in my asz with out knowing how to do it... Any advice on that part??... Hard to line up the screws on a 45Deg. cut... also I couldn't use a clamp on it...just had to kind on hold it, and I got a screw in the top corners, and the bottom corners, but the rest were to hard to line up, so I just glued em, and put some weights on it... hopefully the screws that will go in the top and bottom pieces will hold it in well enough, along with some resin.. (found some hardner) Heres the newest pics. I am going to do the port, and the brace that goes between the subs next.... Any advice on how to do the brace?? cause I can't have the box on the top or bottom (big boards), so I have to have it sideways...... and a brace isnt deep enough to get to the middle of the box???......... Gonna need help for this part.. Thanks.

ught oh... well I would assume the screws tighten the hardest, and the clamps just add support... I can't imagine those clamps tightening more than the screws, but then again... I have no clue. I'm gonna load up the edges and corners in Silicon III just to be safe...might even add some resin if i''m not to lazy...means another trip to the store for hardner. haha

Got to impatient waitin for a response..Took A clamp off... put the back side on...

Hey guys, I have been talking to a member on here about some calculations I used from BCAE1.com, and something just isnt adding up right.. here is a pic of the box I HAD DESIGNED by a member, so I trust this will work, but I just wanted to enter in the info on BCAE1 to see if they would give me about the same specs.. NOPE....>>>>>>>> This is the box I want to build... but when I put the specs into the BCAE1 site... it tells me to build a 1.3" port... what am I doing wrong here with this program????????? Height? =15 Inches Width? = 39.5 Inches Depth1? =26.5 Inches Depth2? = 26.5 Inches If the above dimensions are OUTSIDE dimensions, enter the thickness of the wood below. Wood Thickness? =.75 Inches Speaker Displacement? = .246 Ft -
when do you think you're going to get a vid posted of this bad boy in action? (unless i already missed it)

alright if all those aren't to pricey I will give em a try... I dunno if I'll have to go to that extent though since these aren't in an optimum box...but at the same time might be all the more reason to seal it up really tight. I should start on it Thurs. Ill start a build log for it -

so you're sayin use wood glue to put it together, and use tightbond 2 or 3 for the seams and edges instead of a caulk? -

I appreciate the offer. My mom works for a local High School, so she said the Woods teacher would cut the pieces for me so all I gotta do it put the pieces together. I have wood glue, dry wall screws, clamps, maybe some left over resin. Probably have some caulk layin around.... I've been tryin to ask people if you can use Bondo in the corners and edges instead of caulk...?? any idea. Do you have AIM? that'd be a lot easier while I was doin the build if I need some assistance.... Only thing I see havin trouble doin is lining up the 45Deg. in the opposite port corner, and gettin the screws in the center...not sure how to line that up properly. -

I would only need a design from you.. I gotta start to learn how to build these things myself... Gosh I've probably spend near a $1000 having people build em for me because i'm to lazy/afraid to try myself and F-it up... Ex: I built a box for a 15"XXX... despite all the Hype, I don't think i'd ever try it again because I was completely unimpressed, but odds are it was the box P.S. Thank you all for the help..... MUCH quicker and more helpful than "Another Forum" im a member of, with the exception of a few people. -

Wow... i see where your numbers very, and understand it, but I'd NEVER be able to figure that out on my own. You seem to really understand everything in the construction of a box... any chance you design simple ported/sealed enclosures? Just for the future....i'd toss ya a few bucks. Edit: I hope someone from RE reads this, or you should inform them because if they don't know its calc. wrong, im sure they would love to know/fix it. -

I sent him a PM, he hasnt been on today yet but I dunno if he will just because he's bankin off of it... Could be usin a program, or he's just real experienced and knows how to use the equations. I have them all from when I went to school, but I just dont know how to apply them.. .sad ain't it! -

ya that RE one is really nice, especially because it gives you the dimensions for all your cuts... I would almost use their design, but I payed dude to design that one for me...I just really wish I could see the design on paper, telling me it is correct. I'm sure it is, but I want to know how he got the 13.25" length for the port FOUND SOMETHING FOR ALL OF YOU!! You guys will be able to utilize this a lot better than I can i'm sure, but its almost like that other program I downloaded only it uses an easier to use program... gives you tons of info.. check it out.. ok, I officially quit..... I tried to get that WinISD to work according to all the parameters and specs that alpine gave me on the subs, and I try to save it, and it says there is an "inconsistency" with the QTS, QMS, and VAS or something... tried to click help...entered in data like 5 times according...didnt let me save...problem with the same 3 specs. I just want to find a SIMPLE program, where I can enter in A. Box dimensions B. Driver size C. Preferred tuning Frequ. D. Speaker Displacement and BAM, give me the port dimension best one so far is the REaudio calculator.... But it wouldn't allow me to verify my current design that I had made for me Edit: Pretty much everyone of these online sites asks for a port diameter.... What are you supposed to put if its a slot port???? -

very cool, I will try it in a sec. I just downloaded WinISD pro... doesnt have alpine in there for some reason, but I'm gonna see if I cant download the technical data myself. THanks for all the help again guys! I just want to figure out how to calculate port instead of payin someone else to do it for me...if its this easy. Edit: just tried that website... told me 10" for: Enclosure volume: 7.4 Disired tuning frequ.: 38 Vent Height: 13.5 Vent Width: 6" -

ahhhh thats to bad!!! ahhh, i wanna verify this design in right! I guess I could just make the port wider, and make an L.... I've just never seen a port with 1 piece, and no L shape.... is that ok? -

I just went there, and that program asks for the "Square Port Length 1, and Square port length 2" which is what I don't know how to do...assuming I didnt already have a box designed for me... but what would I put in there anyways? but yes that seems like a MUCH better program -

10.25 gives me this.... Box Front Angle =90 Degrees Gross box volume =7.176 Ft3 Net box volume = 6.393 Ft3 Port Length = 16.4 Inches Port Area = 82.5 Inches2 Port Volume =.73 Ft3 little closer, but still a few" off.. im gonna try RE site and see what it gives me real quick. thanks for the help -

Right, BUT... my problem is I had to pay someone 20 bucks to design that, and I want to be able to do it on my own... Entering all the same info on that site gives me a 1.2" port length, not 13.25... see my problem. I don't understand why its giving me a 1.2" port Edit: that pic in my first post isnt showing up??... I see it... hmmmmh
