Hi Guys, Just in case some of you didn't catch the site, I'm headed out on holidays this Friday. I'm not suppose to be back until August 13, but I'll probably be around at least once during that period. Heading up to the cottage for some *cough* relaxation (read work). Take care all. Mark

Hey! what's wrong with dognuts?! They're warm, juicy, and...and.. ah, forget it. m

Screw the groceries! m

Those are nice looking subs. What are they? The boxes look prefab, correct? Best, Mark
-
Hi, The deposit will be based on per driver - if you want two, send $40. If PayPal doesn't work for you, just mail a cheque to me - my mailing addy is on the site under 'About Us'. Best, Mark

A buddy of mine has a nice low cost, low power tube amp he built (I think he only paid ~$150 for it) that's quite good. He uses it to drive a set of Fostex fullrange drivers - real sweet... Mark

Juicy... It was all Ascendent's fault for sucking me back into this hobby When they blew out their XBL stuff last year I couldn't help but to get a pair of their 12's - very nice drivers. Mark

Hi All, As some of you have mentioned, I threw up some snaps of a 12" prototype sub on the site. I have just added another one - a 20" unit. I'll be spending a bit of time with these in the near future. Head to this link to see them: http://testbed.mach5audio.com Best regards, Mark

Boy, they sure look high end... and expensive. Mark

They're headed out today. I tried to pm you but I'm getting an error with the server. Shoot me an email to my sales addy and I'll fill you in on the particulars. Best, Mark

I guess my question about these 'ubber' drivers is whether people actually BUY them, or is it just for marketing... 1.5kg mass on the cone? What's it made of, granite? Mark

Hi Guys, I recall seeing something like this before but I can't place my finger on it. Speaking with the firm, they said they haven't sent any of these to North America in over a year. Perhaps I'm thinking of a European company.... What's your take?
-
Well, I don't really have a target market.... ok, I didn't have one but now I do. I just like weird and interesting things; if its weird enough, I order a sample. But I appreciate your insight, especially since you're more involved in the car audio aspect than I. And clearly, this is something that is focused on that industry (read awww factor) and not much else. Thanks guys. Mark

Hi Serg, Unfortunately, I come up a bit short on the car audio department (man, how ironic), but my initial tests with the MJ-18 before I committed to it was in a 3.5cube box with a 5" port - can't recall the length or the tuning off hand. The box was modeled for a flat response. I was impressed by the punch it produced, but it lacked in the nether regions. Eqing helped this tho, and in no time I had it to a level that the wife liked - she's a bass monger. Hope this helps. Others will be testing the MJ-18 fairly soon, so I'll shut up and let them speak their minds about it. Best regards, Mark

Hi everyone, If you are interested in seeing some test measurements of the MJ-18, you can go to the web link below. I took some frequency response curves and in-car SPL measurements. http://testbed.mach5audio.com Best regards, Mark

Hmm.. I could have sworn there was a company in Britain that had/has a design similar to this. I just can't place my finger on it. I recall seeing the link on DIYAudio.

I'm still trying to figure out what purpose the extended basket is trying to serve...
-
What was the design? Perhaps I can help...
-
Like the 12's... only bigger I'll shoot a picture up in the coming days... m

Yeah, a group buy would certainly be an option. If I can move these things before they take up permanent residence I'd be a happy DIYer. I received some prelimiary data on the proposed 15" unit to finish off the MAW line. Tell me what you guys think: MAW-15 Fs = 24.6Hz Re = 4 Ohm (both coils connected in series) Qms = 5.06 Qes = 0.35 Qts = 0.33 Rms = 7.2kg/s Cms = 0.18mm/N Mms = 236.7gr Bl = 20.4 SPL = 90.9 (geez why not just say 91) VAS = 190L Le = 2.41mH
-
Hi dj, Currently, it is only available in 8 Ohms. If there is enough interest / commitment, I will get a run of 4 Ohm units. You're right, the blueprints sure look similar. Best regards, Mark

It appears that I got my hand slapped a little.... The 12" sample I received turned out to be a patented design of Adire's and I wasn't suppose to get it in the first place. I was therefore forced to remove it from the site - sorry. Best regards, Mark
-
What's a 'blueprint sub'? Is that a brand? They were definitely thinking underhung when they came up with this design. I calculated Xmax at 11mm given its voice coil length. If they had low distortion in mind, I'm sure they achived it with this unit... Best regards, Mark

Please Welcome Mach5Audio

Yeah, but just think how cheap those products would be. Mark -
i meant the 12 with the cast basket and bad-ass looking motor. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's an 'as yet unnamed' prototype sample that came in with one of the orders. looks interesting doesn't it? I'll post more info on it when I get the chance... Best regards, Mark
