Until quantities last, but I don't think there will be a problem with that...
-
Hahaha! That's great Mark. Great job on that!
-
You just gave me a dirty thought...

Interesting...

Depends on how drunk I am on New Years Eve hahaha!

I sold it. Thanks for asking.

On behalf of the Mach 5 CEO, I would like to wish everyone a safe and merry Christmas. Thanks for coming together and sharing your input, experiences and audio wins. Warmest regards, Mark Rogowski

Aw, c'mon. What kind of a surprise would it be if I posted everything now? Even if you slept in, you can still check things out in the evening...

Yup. Sounds about right. Remember, if you used WinISD to calculate the port tuning, the program already includes the port volume in its calculations. IOW, don't add the port volume to your 4.5 cubes - you will end up with a lower tuning then. Best, Mark

Hi Keith, The 4.5 cube box size is a good recommendation for music, however, if you plan to use them for home theatre as well, many folks suggest building a bigger box and tuning lower to take advantage of the near-subsonic content in movies. Its all dependent on what you can accommodate in you room of course. You can use one MJ-18 in an 8.8 cube box tuned to 18Hz to catch those lows for HT and still be fine for music. The sub will of course, not be as efficient when playing music as you are not able to take advantage of the port output (due to the extremely low tuning). On the flip side, if you are strapped for space and can only do the 4.5 cubes per driver, you can always compensate by using an EQ or some other boost when watching movies. I'd suggest you consider how you plan to use them most of the time and work towards that. Best, Mark

This is based on the assumption that folks want their drivers fixed. If all you want is the recone kit, the cost is roughly half the price of the driver plus shipping. Best, Mark
-
Visitor does have a point. Given the pricing, folks may consider the MAW line to be disposable. Recone kits are about half the price of the driver but considering the driver has to be sent to me to be reconed, many find it is not worth it.

Short answer - yup. Models - all of them. Best, Mark

I was just going to make one - you beat me to it!

139.x with a single unit in my Bonneville.

Like Denim says, 3 cubes at 32Hz would be just fine if you can fit it in your vehicle. Go with 42 sq. inches of port and you should have some good output. Best, Mark
-
I did? Maybe I had one too many when I said that... Kidding aside, if you can squeeze 2.5 cubes you will be a bit better off. Given that high of tuning, it appears you were more focused on output. The SPL-12 turned out to be more musical than I thought it would be. I say try it! Best, Mark

Good Point Ryan. Just block off the port and see if your bass comes back...
-
Hopefully the bold works now... Yes, I believe it is all based on your perceived expectations of your setup. I believe you expect to hear and feel the bass outside your truck, which simply isn't happening. You said that you used a pile of deadener on your vehicle - this is probably why you aren't getting what you want. Question: How does the sub sound *inside* the vehicle? I bet it pounds pretty darn hard. If you want to shake the neighbours, remove said deadener and get that truck vibrating like a tin can. That should do it. If you want decent bass output *inside* your truck, I think you already have it. Best, Mark

Kay, now we're getting somewhere. I'm not sure what you mean by the sentence i bolded though. Do you mean you swapped out your M3 with another M3? Others should be able to chime in here now that you provided more info, but I would play with placing that box within your truck if you can. Or, just apply eq to the point where you're comfortable with it and leave it. Best, Mark
-
Based on those specs I would classify that driver to be geared more towards SPL than anything quality based. If you think everything is set up properly, look towards the environment. You never said what vehicle you have or how your sun is oriented. Apply some eq if you have it. The sub should handle that with little issue. Best, Mark
-
Well, looking over the specs of the driver, I wouldn't expect any real low bass from it to begin with. When you say you don't have any output, are you referring to the low bass frequencies? What kind of vehicle do you have? How/where is the box positioned? Punching in the numbers seem to indicate a port tuning of 32Hz and not your estimated 36Hz. Not to worry, you probably wouldn't notice much of a difference anyway. You may have issues with phase. Try reversing the connections on the speaker to see if you get an improvement. Best, Mark

These batteries I keep seeing people purchasing and talking about are deep charge batteries, correct? If so, what is the difference between buying one of those verses say, a deep charge mariine battery from Walmart? Thanks, Mark

Can you post the exact model you have?

Next up, we have a 90 litre (3.2 cube) enclosure tuned to 29Hz. Here's a quick shot of Mr. Frankenbox: Once again, the frequency response is done near field. The driver response is yellow; the port output is green: Looking at the port curve, it appears like the mic is picking up some info from the driver as well. To verify this, I shoved the mic inside the port, but the response curve came out nearly identical. Here is the impedance curve of the driver inside the box:
