Hmmm... The breaker popped about four times and the driver was fine. This shows there was no short. Like Scott said, the only way to measure true power through the driver is to use a clamp meter. Frankly, I think more power flowed through it than 8kw...
-
Scott, were you there to witness this?
-
Hard to say bud. You are applying standard Ohm's Law. So, which of the numbers are correct: P = I 2 x R = 225 watts P = E x I = 1800 watts P = E 2 / R = 14400 watts Current = 15 amps (we assume) Voltage = 120 volts Resistance = 1 Ohm nominal at 60Hz Forgive me for getting a boner when the larger number is used. That's just human nature.

More power was flowing through that driver. Otherwise, the breaker wouldn't have popped like it did.

Gawd, I can't concentrate on anything at that site. The whole thing is moving with flash and animation.

You got a link to the thread?

I got a vendor pushing warning for posting my review of the Maw 15's I had. That place is Cool. I think I'll go there...

Welcome to the tip of the iceberg!

Some people may not like that there... Should post it on SoundGround then. Agreed!

Shoot me the videos

I love your ava Ice...

Yup. Just as Acid said, drivers are exercised before parameters are measured. So what is posted gives you the closest numbers to "real world" as you can get. Best, Mark

And where do you find these friggin smilies anyway...

Well.....you know we could have tried this at your place........Who cares if the carpet would have caught fire .....Its being replaced. Damn we need a vid of this!!!! Now that we know the story I will offer my apologies to wasted, and Give mark a smack when I see him......LOL...... HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Smack the CEO. Call me when you do it. I want to hear it

Did you turn a profit?

...And to set the record straight, my last post was not a shot either. If anything, it is a suggestion for those who maintain their site to reread what is posted and clean it up a bit. I think it would help them in the long run.

Better watch yourself Aaron, you may even end up being "converted" if you go through with reviewing the unit. I noticed the "Eu technology" has been removed from their description page. Unfortunately, it doesn't make the rest of the information they provide any easier to decipher. Just how old was the person who wrote that stuff anyway?

No worries. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. Folks may say its crazy to do such things, they themselves are probably wondering how well the driver performed under such conditions. Bedtime...

Now now, the socket treatment is not normally done, hence all of the reactions. Since he has gone this far with his testing, I have asked him to continue until there is an end to things - whether good or bad. Hopefully, no homes will be burned down because of this. Best, Mark

Ease off on him guys. He's into hard core SPL so he's looking for something that will stand up to the pounding. I requested that he plug the unit into the wall socket and walk away... Let the fun begin.

Ok, can I ask you some questions please? How did you wire the coil(s)? How long was it in the socket for? You say the top layer of paper came off. Can I assume the voice coil/cone joint is still Ok? Can you shoot me a PM with your real name so I can verify an SPL-12 sale? Thanks, Mark

Its about time you came over! No worries man, the picture will be removed shortly. You sure stirred things up over there...
