I wish I had known that before making my purchase (mandatory alternator upgrade required). My old Boss amp never had a problem. Seriously though, the mandatory alternator upgrade, should be noted somewhere on either the website or owners manual, for the do-it-yourselfer. I still love the amp, but I would have picked up an alternator before hurting my precious.

Ah so the HC is part of the old legendary US Amp line where you "kept adding speakers until it shut off, then you back off a sub." Thanks for clearing that up.

Thanks JR, I actually do have an Audio Control processor and forgot to check that setting. You should post here more often. We could use your expertise. Or at least I know I could.

After 2 destroyed AX 3000 DE's in one week, I can safely confirm it is not designed to hold a .5 ohm load for long. My second amp died at this weekend's show. So until I get another 3000, I'll be running a pair of AX1500DE.

the words "trade secret" just scream at me. Maybe you can contact US Amps and find and authorized repair shop on your side of the pond, but I find it hard to believe they'd just let schematics out there to anybody who asked. But I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time.

US Amps are the finest amps ever made. And I stand behind that. They sound better, consistently give more wattage than printed, and the plexiglass thing is cool too. Outside of the 1500DE I torched, the AX1000 and the mystery MLT box, and the 3000DE that died from unique circumstances, I've never had a finer amplifier. And I've tried a few dozen brands. Plus it never shuts off in the Texas heat. And that's a big plus.

Yeah, I made the mistake of tweaking the setup without turning everything down first, oh yeah, I was measuring the output to confirm I was seeing all 3000 watts between my ammeter and voltmeter, and poof and pop. I saw smoke coming out of the ports (never a good thing), so I thought the subs were dead. Then I checked the amp and it turns out that was the really dead. The subs still play though, but I didin't have any major wattage to confirm it would play loud. All this shouldn't be a problem though. I'm under warranty. That's why you buy from a reputable US Amp dealer.

pix of install? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry no pics yet. Digital camera is down at the moment.... unfortunately, the amp gave up the ghost tonight, so tomorrow I'm shopping for a replacement. I don't know what happened. I was driving it hard for about 45 minutes at .5 ohm load. Then got home and decided to do some 45 hz burps, and there was a lot of smoke from the subs (they still play, I don't know if they are blown and it's just a mercy signal but I hear something) but a loud pop from amp and after unmounting it, I could see several burn marks on the board and a couple of dead transistors. I love the plexiglass. It wasn't that hot today in Texas, but I did put it to the test. Oh yeah, my highest score before this incident was 145.8. Not that big of a deal, but this was in a trunk with the subs facing the rear of the car in a early 80's coup. My trunk is big enough to park a CRX in.

I have one AX3000 DE (need to get another one) Unfortunatly, I'm not that impressed yet. I run it half ohm load all day, and it's never shut down in the Texas heat (like my old MA Audio amp with a fan no less), but I'm still not yet convinced of the power yet. I'll let you guys know more as I continue to beat it up. I don't have a high output alternator on it, but I'm suppling it with two deep cycle 12 volt batteries with 0 gauge wire less than 12 inches away, and of course my battery up front, so hopefully I don't have a power problem. Time will tell. For subs, I have (4) Cadence Wild Beast 2 ohm subs in a vented box tuned to around 38 hz.

I've seen the specs for both and was wondering what justified the extra money for less watts on the AX2000HC (2400 watts) vs. AX3000DE (3000 watts). I know they HC is for high current (down to .5 ohms) but is there something else I'm missing?

I found this through a post on some other forum. I'm just glad I'm not the only guy that can see the potential for limitless power one piece at a time.

Hi guys, last weekend I picked up 2 of the US Amps AX1000 (for now), and I'm using them to run (3) 2 ohm Cadence Wild Beast subs (for now). How do you strap the amps together without using the magic "MLT" box? Under the plexiglass, I can see the "master/slave" switches for both channels, but I'm a little leary doing anything to the circuit board without some instruction. Down the road, I'm planning on adding at least 2 more AX1000's and one more sub, but this current set up will get me thru the week. Thanks, in advance
