Spanyerd started following 2 Fi X 12's or one SSD 15?, WeldingSupply 2/0 vs car audio brand 1/0, accidently ordered 3 18's with high qts and and 4 others

The same as saying Genuine Leather, either its leather or its not. I was questioning your post above about the "it has more strands since it's not pure copper." What do you mean here? I can't speak for him, but I think that he meant: Because a lot of car audio wiring is CCA, some better brands are oversized with more strands because there's less copper than comparable OFC wire, whether it be for car audio or welding cable. Basically, he's saying they're making up for having less copper by adding more CCA strands. Generally, I can't say I agree. Although I think knu CCA is oversized compared to AWG standards.

What a tool...

You do realize these are custom built to order subwoofers, and you aren't their only customer. That's my point exactly. Because they're custom built and that takes time, they most likely didn't ship his order contrary to what that email said.
-
They probably didn't ship. That email was most likely BS. My orders didn't ship until more than a week after I got those emails. Hound their customer service by phone tomorrow until they confirm the true order status. If they haven't been completely built yet, they should be able to adjust your order without charging.

I received mine a couple weeks ago. This program is unbelievable! Who else in the industry would do this? NOBODY!! Thnx again Kevin.

Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD Installation and Review
Spanyerd replied to twistedchild420's topic in Product Reviews
Agree 100%. Especially considering most other manufacturers charge at least double that just to get in the door. I scooped mine up a couple months ago when Sonic Electronix had them for $249 shipped with a free wiring harness and dash kit! That's an unbelievable deal. Adding to the product kudos, the selectable sub low-pass frequency settings are nice and are at commonly-used frequencies (50hz, 63hz, 80hz, 100hz, and 125hz). Selectable sub phase, great. The SQ is very good. It doesn't match the elite but isn't priced to. Video quality is very good. I've seen no sign of quirk. My only snarl is in regards to the noise level when using the front aux-in jack. It's noticeably much higher than any of the other inputs, even without any input level boost (set at "0"). Yeah, to me, that 70 watt sub channel doesn't suck, just a little strange IMO. Nice, but not really enough to do very much at all. I never really understood why a manufacturer wouldn't utilize the additional space in the double-din chassis for additional amplification of the standard front and rear speaker channels. It could close a huge gap in the market by reducing/eliminating the need for an external amp for a lot of "regular Joe" applications. To me, if you can add 70 watts to the design for a sub, there's gotta be a way to jack up the standard speaker channels. Could you imaging an affordable HU that has DOUBLE the true rms output of all the other guys, even the elite? That's a "door-buster" product. Oops..off topic. All in all, this is a great unit and I'm very happy with it. Glad it was posted. -
I realize that the Black Fi-Day X series subs are Fi's entry-level line and were highly discounted because they were being discontinued, so perfection wasn't expected. But considering Fi's reputation, I'm really disappointed in the build "quality" of my 2 new subs that I just received. Just because I'm not buying a fully loaded BTL shouldn't mean that my purchase doesn't really matter. They're the first Fi's that I've ever personally owned, so I have to ask other owners....Is it "normal" for: ...sooo much glue to be oozing from the dustcap onto the cone? It's milky white and contrasts against the black cone and can easily be seen from 8 feet away, no problem. ....the magnets to be so far off-center? They're way off. .....the cone to be so far off the center of the spider? The photo sux, but the cone's off by about the distance from a spider "valley" to a "peak". I can get more detailed photos if anyone wanted/needed. I don't know if any of these things could mean anything in regards to the quality of the output, either individually or collectively. The cone being off from the center of the spider so much can easily affect the linearity of the excursion I would think. I couldn't get a good enough photo, but a dustcap on 1 of the 2 subs is noticeably off center by about 1/4". Most of this might only be cosmetic, but they just look slapped together. Like Stevie Wonder had a few drinks and built them with his feet. Like they wouldn't have made it through Pyle's QC. I've owed hundreds of subs, everywhere from $20 - $700 each and haven't seen any that were as poorly built as my Fi's. I'm extremely disappointed but, then again,...... maybe it's just me. I'd like some feedback either way. Am I being overly critical?

Thnx Denim! They arrive tomorrow. BTW - The FiDay X12's may be sold out now 'cause they're not showing on the website anymore. Got my order in just in time I guess. I panicked when I saw the 12's were gone and ordered 4 of the 10's. I have the juice available, so I'll probably run all 4-10's in that 4.8 @ 32hz box instead of the 2-12's. Close to the same external box size and very similar transient response, but far more radiant area (+28%). Should be badass.

I just ordered two of the fiday 12's, pretty stoked! Based on your experience, what would you recommend for box size and tuning? I like listening to a lot of rap/dupstep and want decent sq but still be able to get loud. So I was thinking around 2.2 ft^3 per sub tuned @ around 32hz. Any help is very much appreciated! Hi everyone!! Just joined, first post. I just made the same purchase and (obviously) have the same question. I'm just getting started with WinISD, but I plugged in the numbers and played around a little and it looks to me like the recommended 2.4cu' net per driver looks fantastically flat and deep when tuned at 30hz (F3 31hz). In his Youtube video, The SSD Madman had said that he thought 32sq" of port may not had been enough to drive his 2 X12's, but that was with 3.5 cu'. Does anyone see an issue with a 50sq" of port area (2.75" x 18.5" = 50.875" w/ a vent mach of 0.05)? BTW - I love the cut sheets. Dual-sub sheets would be great also. They're probably as popular as the single-sub set ups. Thnx in advance!
