I would ASSuME it has to do with the correlation between the diameter of the diaphragm and the frequencies being produced. A smaller "middle" driver would more easily even the passband. Best thing is to take trim panels and things out to deaden behind it and use foam and things to help absorb vibration.

I use the pwx's daily in a 3 way set up. Sound fantastic to me of course they are not a sq comp set. But they fit my bill. Grab and set and try them yourself. For 32 a piece you can't go wrong...

You got your terminology mixed up. Clamping us measuring the power from the amps. Strapping is connecting them to make 1 big amp and only use 1 bass knob for the pair. It consist of a master amp and a slave amp.
