I got my plans from Ryan this week and just had time to get it together. I can say that I am very happy with the design he came up with and my new sa-8's sound great. After a few questions back and forth with Ryan he had my plans to me the next day. A big thanks to Ryan.

Well I decided to go with two SA-8's. Im looking forward to working with these.

No that was at 2ohm. I will order a new digital volt meter also. I'm leaning toward two sa-8's at 2 ohm in a ported box that's about 750 watts for the pair. Ive also heard the discuss may do a little more than rated.

Also thinking about two SA-8 run at 2ohm for 750 watts. Also I did the big three with zero gauge and cant notice any dimming of the lights and the voltage gauge doesnt move.

A little about me. I have been out of car audio for a while. My last setup was two MMATS audio P3 12's in a ported box which was great in my Ford Ranger. I recently bought a MB Quart Discuss 1500.1 from a member here and ran it at 2ohms to a Hifonics Atlas 12 which blew within two days. That was admittedly my fault for turning the gain up too loud. I have a single cab Dodge Ram and would like to stay with one 12" subwoofer. My usable space is approximately 30"(w)X15"(h)X11"(d) for 2.12^3 ft of space. I would like to run the amp at 1 ohm @1500 watts and can spend around $250-$300 for the sub. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks. Looking for a somewhat ""SQL"" setup.

Thanks to S.DeYoung for a great deal on my MB Quart amp. It was packaged secure and included all original hardware and manuals. Great person to deal with.

Help with amp problem
heritage755 replied to heritage755's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I disconnected the RCA's and speaker wire, still in protect mode. I moved the ground to a seat frame bolt and no fix either. I am looking at other options now but still cant think of what may have caused it. -
Help with amp problem
heritage755 posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I have and Audiopipe APSM-1300 that went into protect mode while riding down the road. I had it wired to a 1ohm which is 1000 watts. The amp is grounded beneath the drivers seat at a spot were I sanded the paint away and secured the ring terminal with three screws to the floor. I have an 8 gauge kit with an 80 amp fuse. My question is it possible the amp was struggling too hard with the small wire to generate the power or the amp hit the drivers seat frame and maybe shorted out. The amp is damaged now and Audiopipe wants $20 to fix it and whatever it cost to ship it. I only paid $100 for the amp and I think I will go with something else instead of fixing it. Any thoughts on why the amp went into protect mode? I also checked the power and ground wire and there are no fray's anywhere. Any help or thoughts are appreciated. -

sub wiring help
heritage755 replied to heritage755's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I would have ordered another Fi X but I think I will just stick with the two that I purchased and build a small sealed box. The amp is an audiopipe APSM 1300. I will just dial the gain back a little and take it easy. I was trying to upgrade from two memphis pr 12's that are about 5-6 years old that have been in my garage for awhile. Thanks for the quick responses. -
sub wiring help
heritage755 replied to heritage755's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If my amp is only 1 ohm stable wouldnt that kill the amp? -
I tried searching but couldnt find a definitive answer. If I wire three dual 4ohm subwoofers to my one ohm stable amp it will see a final ohm load of approximately 2.67ohms. Specs of my amp are as follows: 600@2 ohm and 1000@1 ohm. So at 2.67 the subs would see less than 600 watts right? I was hoping to get closer to the 1000 watts but Im not sure it will be possible. And to explain my situation a little, I got excited one night and order two 10" Black Fiday subs before I realized they were dual four ohms. Thanks for any help too.

Thanks for the input. My X's will be here tomorrow and I need to start thinking about the box. If I went with a ported enclosure that would probably reduce the power handling ability of the subwoofers correct?

So I just ordered two of these X 10's without really paying close attention. I have an Audiopipe APSM1300 amp that does 600@2ohm and 1000@1ohm. My question is are these subs maybe a little underrated because I've also read these amps might be a little overrated. I can always turn the gains and bass level down and go easy on the volume knob. Does this sound like it may work? I dont really have much more of a budget for subs. Im also not looking to be real loud.
