Hey, I was just wondering if anyone had the displacement for the old 12" BM. Also, what are the recommended box specs for this (sealed and ported)?
-
i actually did search... couldnt find a thing for driver displacement, they didnt list it on the original page anyway

want to replace my SX........ but with what model BL or BTL

a 12" BL with cooling should be good for what you want -
To me, the Q is a more natural sounding sub, but you can't really go wrong with either sub.

140 is plenty for daily driving

Nice.. what year Passat? I have a 98 and a 12 Q in 2.2 @ 32hz sounds awesome in it.

Here she is: It's in a 2.2 net tuned to 32hz. Powered by an MD2, set to get about 1200w. Pretty **** beefy when I first saw it, like a chubby kid back in those elementary school days. Quality looks excellent. Dropped in it, I've let it play 20hz tones here and there for a little over 10 hours now. Been listening to it gradually and it's been pleasing. The low-end is defining not lacking and for what it's worth, I think it's a low-end monster. So the suspension's loosened up a bit, but still a bit stiff (it was very stiff brand new). I was surprised by the output of this thing. Compared to my 2 12" RL-p's in 1.5 sealed with 1.5kw, they definitely keep up in terms of output around 40hz and below. Above 40hz, they're not too far behind. Output was pretty much what I was looking for, the two RL-p's ported were too much, this is enough for me. Accuracy-wise it's a bit punchy. I felt the RL-p's were a tad bit punchier in their 1.75 @ 32, but the Q may still need to soften up. I did steal some of RIckRolled's song choices and did some listening with both subs. The musicality and tone of the Q was noticeably better than that of the RL-p's. They sounded more natural playing guitar notes, particularly in 'Wayfaring Stranger.' They blended in very well. And on 'The Battle,' I did notice the RL-p struggling to play the low rumblings with confidence. The Q's didn't have a problem with it at all. On Hotel California live, the bass drum was just awesome. Very natural. Even on rap songs, the Q definitely proves itself (to me at least) to be a low-end monster. Listened to Hypnotize, Soul Survivor, etc. It was loud to say the least. Overall, I just like the musicality of the Q, especially in a ported box, it's still able to blend in with my front stage pretty well. And then when I listen to something bass-heavy, it isn't ashamed to show its capabilities in that department either. It doesn't have a flat response in my setup, but going sealed can probably help with that. Pretty satisfied with the purchase, Fi's service was excellent. Not taking anything away from Soundsplinter though, Mike is great and the RL-p is a very capable sub also.

Thank you Scott, replied to it just now. Also made a completely new e-mail made just for contacting you, hopefully it gets rid of all these missed emails both ways.

Hey Scott, or anyone who can answer the question. I'm interested in retrofitting my 12" Q with the compression plug. How much power can I safely send it after the fit? It's doing with with ~1200w right now. Do I need an RA number or anything to send it back? Also, what would the turnaround time be from date of arrival? I understand you guys are still trying to get things back on track.

scott, nick, i know you have read this..

Either one should get damn loud and low. The Q would probably sound slightly more musical, the SSD's will probably be slightly louder due to cone area.
-
I told my friend to get one when the preorder was going on. Installed it for him the other day for his 2 12w3v2's. Love the small footprint and power. Thumbs up over here.

what's up with the email system? sometimes i'll be going back and forth with scott, and suddenly i stop getting replies. I emailed June 1st, June 9th, June 11th, 14th. Still got nothing. It's happened a couple times already..

Well, sounds like you know what you want and you're willing to give up the space for it again, so do it.
-
That combo should be awesome.. throw it in a sealed box and you'll be impressed with the SQ.
-
love my q ported.. loud and pretty darn accurate, can handle complex material too.
-
Sure, I like 2.2 @ 32 in my car. But no one's gonna be able to tell you exactly how it'll turn out in your vehicle, each response is different. Only way is to try, 2.2 @ 32 is certainly a good starting point.

The SSD would be better off that amp and should be awesome ported. The Q would be good with 1-1.2kw. Running mine right now with 1200 and the output is pretty surprising. Beats out my old 12w3v2's off the xenon 600.1 and I'd say its not much behind my 2 12" RL-p's when they were sealed w/ 1.5kw. Don't want to comment about the sound quality yet but so far, it's good. The SSD and Q should retain their musicality ported if the box is right, mine sure does.

Havent Got My BL yet or a tracking number?????

You sure it didn't get mixed up with spam in your e-mail? Happens to me sometimes.. But Fi's service is awesome. I'd probably just assume the sub is almost at your house, taking in build time and transit time into consderation. -
I actually just went with a 12" Q ported and I'm running an MD2 to it. Only sending it around 1200 watts. Still gotta give it some time to loosen up, but it's pretty punchy and output is more than I expected. The 12 would be great off either of those amps.
-
kinda sounds like its bottoming out a little bit on some notes
-
are the xterminator lines overrated on the us amps site? they are different from what you gave us. i know this was brought up, but i dont think it was really resolved.

is it me or did the RL-p 12's displacement change from .18cF to .15cF
