Boston Acoustics is a quality car audio company and their equipment can definitely be trusted. However, for 650-700 dollars I would not buy one of their products. Im sure, with 700 dollars, you could purchase a driver that gets louder and sounds better than this particular driver.

I dont know if it is recommended but there are many people who have more than one battery on a stock alt so you may want to explore that option.
-
You should definitely invest in a high output alternator before buying drivers like the btls. They require extreme amounts of power and you do not want to strain your electrical. If you do not have the budget for a ho alternator you may want to look at less powerful drivers. You would also save some money on an amp if you plan to go with less power. If you are set on the btls, you should search the classifieds for some good used amps. And, like Julian said, db-r electronics usually has some good deals on used amps.

Comin out of nowhere with this but, why not get two more powerful drivers (maybe Bls, Icons, death rows, etc), and save some space rather than 4 Fi X 10s. Im assuming you are not taking out the backseat so why not think about something in the 2 driver direction rather than 4 and save some trunk space?

The stereo integritys suggested earlier may be one of your best bets since they are only 3.4" deep. Although the t3s are good drivers you may not want to squeeze them into the space you have to work with. Think about how little space .05" actually is before you purchase a driver with similar mounting depths.

SA-8s are adorable. However, if youre looking for loud and low you have better options such as a Bl 12 or any other similar drivers.

Stock electrical and 1500w amp wha tis the best 15 i could get ?

Like previously stated, dont waste your money on a new amp if you have a functioning zx1500.1. A nightshade can definitely get loud and even sound good in the right box. As far as your electrical, you have to set up the big 3 atleast. Its not a good idea to strain your cars electrical, especially if you have the budget for a few batts. -
Although they would be slightly underpowered, Im sure to SSD 10s would sound great and take up less room than the bl. You may also want to take a look at SA-10s and Lethal Injection 10s. All three options are quality drivers, will sound great and give you some more space in your trunk.

Just buy a good quality sub that you know isnt going to take a shit on you. Then, mess around with different box designs and see what happens. Theres really not much else for you to do.
-
A fully loaded ssd is the way to go. With the power option, the ssd will be able to handle 1000 watts probably even 1200 as long as your not gain happy.
-
Just to end as quickly as possible, go with 4 X 10s but make sure your box is large enough. 1200 watts is just about the perfect amount of power for these drivers. No reason to underpower two ssds.
-
If you have the room, and your goal is spl, go for a slightly larger box maybe 5 cubes with a nice size port.

Unless you are really not worried about blowing the money, you may want to build the box yourself. There are many guys on the forum who can set you up with a solid design for a few bucks. -
Btls, Mayhems, Level 5s, Wardens, etc. are the loudest drivers youre going to find. However, these subs are out of your budget. Like stefan said, your best bet is to try and pick one of these drivers up used for a reasonable price within your budget. Spend some time searching the classifieds. Also, unless you have one already, you must account for the cost of an amp. SPL drivers , like the ones previously stated, are made to handle extreme amounts of power. Therefore, you are going to need an amp that can satisfy these beasts. A solid amp could run you upwards of 500 dollars new so you may want to search the classifieds for some amps too.

Audioque SDC2.5 12" or FI ssd 12" how do these compare
Deto1992 replied to basshead7890's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Since going over seas, the quality of audioque drivers has severely decreased. Spending the extra money is well worth it in this case. There is no sense in spending 140 on a sub that may not be constructed with care. -
Both the bl and the icon are great products. My understanding is that the bl will get louder but the icon will most likely sound better. If you are only concerned with being loud than you may want to look into spl box designs. Getting loud depends more on the box than the subs when you are comparing quality drivers like the icon and bl.
-
There are an infinite amount of sub/amp combinations that will get loud. However, if your only goal is getting loud you may want to switch your focus from sub/amp combos to box design and placement in your vehicle. Granted, subs such as Btls and Level 5s can get very loud. But an ssd or level 3 in the right box can get louder than a btl or level 5 in the wrong box.

ok thanks. I just was scared of trying it out since i didnt really know what I was doing. But what do you guys normally glue the boxes with. From what i've seen it looks like most people use some type of wood glue, then seal the edges with caulk. And ive also heard its a good idea to round the corners of the port on the inside of the box. How do you do this? Well i used wood screws and liquid nails to put the box together then i sealed it with cork. I do not know if this is standard procedure but everything sounds great so far. I got the design from the tech center right here at ssa. See if there are any designs that would work for your particular set up.

Rather than spending a ridiculous amount of money on a ported box, try and build one yourself. One sheet of 3/4 inch mdf will cost you around 40 bucks and there are many designs you can find free online. The Q12 should be ported in a box between 1.8-2.5 cu ft so search around and see what you can find.

A friend of mine has owned both a Bl 12 and SSD 12. The Bl is noticably louder. For one 12 I could not believe the amount of amount. However, both subs performed extremely well and I cant imagine that you would be disappointed with either. Good Luck.

Dont let the 4 gauge power inputs turn you away if the amp is what you want, you can run 1/0 wire and get some 4 gauge reducers to plug into the terminals. Like so: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_16846_Stinger-SPT821-Gold.html Yeah i hear you man. I just dont understand why a company would limit an amps gauge size to 4 when the amp can push upwards of 1600w rms at 1 ohm. Thanks for the option though!

Im planning on buying either a fully loaded ssd 12 or a soundstream splx. So i need a good amp that can push about 1000-1200 watts rms for around $175. Ive looked at autotek, crunch, hifonics, planet audio, etc. Anybody have any experience with a cheap but trustworthy amp?
-
I am purchasing an Audioque hdc3 rated for 1000wrms so im looking for a solid 1000w amp. I came across a more than reasonably priced hifonics amp that pushes 1500w at 1 ohm. However, the amp only has 4 guage power inputs and I was wondering if that was something i had to worry about. Can a true 4 guage power wire handle 1500 watts?

Ive been all over the forum trying to figure out which sub would work best for me and I still havent come to a conclusion. Most recently, Im thinkin about either a 12" Chaos or 12" Havoc. I have a 2.5 cubic ft box ported and Im planning on buying an audiopipe ap10001d or ap15001d depending on which sub I choose. I drive an infiniti sedan so the box will be in the trunk. I am currently running on Fi X 12 at 2ohms with 250 watts from a fosgate prime and it sounds good for a $250 setup but I want an increase in SPL without having to build a new box. Is the Havoc worth the extra money in my situation or will the Chaos being a satisfying upgrade from the Fi X? I know it can be considered an opinionated question but thats really all Im looking for. Thanks for the help.
