I have a bxi1608d which is basically the older model brutus and it does the job just fine. At the moment, I have it powering two eclipse 88120s and it sounds great.

2x18" AA SMD vs 4pcs 15" fi BTL ufo
Deto1992 replied to superfishbone's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
If it were my decision to make, I would definitely go with the four Btl 15s. Like somebody stated earlier, you will have the cone area advantage with the Btls and, therefore, it should be louder. As long as the drivers are in the proper enclosure, both options will have an outrageous amount of output. I cant imagine that either choice would disappoint. -
The boss subwoofers will be fine if you are just looking to add a little low end to your system. However, they cannot handle rms ratings so you will need to be careful with gains and such. IMO, I do not think you should run more than 600 watts to that particular subwoofer.

I NEED MORE POWER.....ASAP!
Deto1992 replied to SMpaintball78's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
what would u do in my situation? i dont have the money for a HO alt. i only have the money for maybe another battery but thats all. i have a "65 mustang and summer is coming up and i have alot of mantinance to do to get it ready. it needs brakes and new upper and lower ball joints. not that that has anything to do with systems but i wanted to fill u in on my situation. save up and get some sealed agm batteries, xspower batts are great but pricey, may wanna also check out some deka 9a31s (I think that model number is right) Yupp the deka 9a31 is in the intimidator line made by deka. Ive heard nothing but good reviews about these deka's, you should definitely check them out! -
Cant wait to see how this turns out mann btw pops car is adorable

New battery
Deto1992 replied to Deto1992's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Yessirr but just barely. If i wanted to play it safe I could always go with a d3400 which is basically the same size as my die hard right noww. A d3400 would still provide sufficient power for my current system. -
I was planning on upgradingg my electrical by replacing my main batt. I was thinking about a batt along the lines of a d6500. Max amps are about 3900 and ah is about 80. Should my stock alt, 110 amps, be able to charge the d6500 without a problem? Im just looking for a theoretical answer. Thanks for the help

New battery

will doo man. Thanks for the help -
Your first attempt may seem pretty challenging but once you get comfortable with building it is fairly second hand. Designing a box is on a completely different level than constructing so if you could just have some1 desgin u a box u should be able to put it together.

I dont mean a waste of time in a negative way actually lol. I would just rather learn before I begin so I do not waste my time on bad design. Yeah bracing wouldnt be too difficult at all but I am looking for low tuning around 30 hz so idk if the aeros are the best option if I cannot tune them low without difficulty.

New battery
Deto1992 replied to Deto1992's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Welll I was pretty set on getting a battery that can support well above 2000 watts so I wasnt asking which battery to get. So, assuming that Im not giving any demos with the heat, lights, and my wipers on, I should be good with my stock alt? Because I dont have the money for a ho alt at the moment. Even if my alt was a little weak for the battery would it still behoove of me to get the larger battery? -
Just the thought of two Xcon 15s sealed makes me smile. Ive always wanted to go sealed for precision purposes but i have never had the budget to do so with drivers that would have enough output to satisfy me. I cant imagine too many drivers would sound as good as the two xcons. You cant go wrongg!

New battery
Deto1992 replied to Deto1992's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Well my system is below 2000w total. I thought Id go with a battery that could support a larger current draw rather than a battery that will just barely get the job done. -
I Have a XXXXXXX watt sytem. What battery do I need?

Im looking into replacing my main batt with a d6500. Do you think that my stock 110 amp alt could charge the batt without a problem? -
Just bought an AP1800.1 and...

It sucks that the adapters dont work. There are some guys on here who will telll you not to trim but, in my opinion, triming down 0 gauge is much better than running 4 gauge power and ground cables. -
What are the benefits of using aeroports rather than normal ports? Are there any negatives? Not familiar with many box designs yet so Im just trying to learnn before I build a new box. Edit: Started topic twice accidentally sorry guys.
-
Just purchased a couple of eclipse 88120s in a custom enclosure. I threw it in today and, similar to my hdc3, I am lacking in low end output. The box is dual chambered, tuned to 34 hz, and each driver has about 1.6 cubes. I thought that I did not need to build a new box because the tuning of 34 hz is low enough to achieve the lows Im looking for. However, like i previously stated, Im lacking low end output. It seems like Im never going to be able to get the flat response Im looking for. Thanks for the help guys! edit: The custom enclosure has two seperate ports, one for each driver. I could remove the divider between the two ports if that would help. But, as far as I know, that would only increase tuning and cause my drivers to continue peaking higher than desired.
-
Yea I know hwo different lengtsh affect tuning, I was more interested in the actual width of the port. Assuming that I kept the port length the same, and increase in port width would raise tuning? Would it not? Because i do have the option of removing the divider between the two chambers of the box which would connect the two ports which were previously seperate and, in turn, increase port width. I considered this option until i realized that it would only raise tuning which wouldnt solve my probelm. Could the low end be lacking simply because there is not enough volume? And if I was to increase port length for each port which would lower tuning would this make up for the lack of volume? I am running over rated wattage to the drivers also which would call for a smaller volume. Or is that a shitty way to look at it?
-
I have a hifonics brutus and yes, it has a ssf which is currently set at 28 hz. When you say increase port area youre referring to the length of the port, correct? Because I do know that increasing port width generally increases tuning although that is also increasing port area.
-
Actually isnt a prefab. It is tuned at 34 hz, most prefabs are closer to 40 and thats why they lack low end output. I just dont know enough yet to determine the solution to the peaky output so i thought id ask.
-
Alright not a problem. Just one question. Does it have any effect on output if one driver is in front of the port wall and one is not? I would think that there would be some conflict in such a design. Thanks for the help though.

no advicee guys? Do you need more info? Im really in some need of help heree

The SSD line is currently being upgraded. From what I hear, the new line is going to have neo magnets which really doesnt have any effect on the driver as far youre concerned. However, I do not know how long it will be until they are up for sale again. Feel free to search through the classifieds here for Sa-15s or comparable drivers; the guys on this site are not looking to sell you junk or rip you off so dont eliminate used equipment from your options.

subwoofer suggestion's for reg cab colorado
Deto1992 replied to mustangsub's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Just a suggestion, if you are still worried about bass drowning out your highs, why not look into a 5 channel amp, buy a pair of tweeters and mount them on the dash. Theres no way a single dcon 10 could drown out highs from two 2-ways and two tweets. -
Its a bit out of your budget, but a nice Sa-15 would suit you well. It is rated at 600wrms and is known to get loud and sound good doing it. IMO, it would be the best subwoofer for your goals and you cant go wrong with it.
