Still looking for ideas :-) 2 15's and amp for around $900 or so. Less than $900 would be good though.. Gotta save some money for the box

Ported of course

Ok, So I have a choice to make. My xterra got hit with some hail, and I got wrote a check for $1,100.. I am really debating about possibly putting it towards my system, since the damage is barely noticeable any way. With that being said, and remember I have 9cubes to work with. What type of dual 15 setup do you think I could run Subs+Amp+box for around that price + or - a few bucks.

Sundown Sae-1200d Bass knob

Will they still have them for sale for an amp that is no longer in production? I got one that came with a sundown 50.4. Idk if its the same thing or not though Does anyone know if this will work? -
So I have been browsing several different subs the last few weeks to go with my Sae-1200d. This sub seems like it might be right up my alley, But I am wondering when it will be available, and the price point?
-
That box diagram is sub and port back. I thought you all said sub up would be better?
-
So I got an email from Fi, Turns out that it had gone to my spam folder. I explained everything to them, and asked about warranty, but they said it was only a year. After that, I told them everything that I have told you all, and the guy emailing me recommended that I get a Q and not a BL. If you all could explain there differences between them to me, I would greatly appreciate it. From what I can tell though, the BL will get louder but the Q will have better SQ and Hit the low notes better?

Just stopped by my box builders house, and I have just under 9 cubes to work with. So I am wondering how you think 5 cubes tuned to 31Hz would do? Like I said, not looking for spl, just want something that will pick up the lows, sound good, and flex the crap out of my xterra lol.
-
Got any recommended specs for a box for an Fi BL? Like I said It will be in the back of an xterra, and I'm more than willing to use all the space back there. Also I want to be able to get some nice low notes with a good amount of flex Thanks in advance ~Tyler Edit: Also my current box, which like I said before was for my integr, and is sub up port up, to fire it off of the hatch. With this being in an xterra now, would a sub you port back, towards the hatch be the best way to go? Had all hatchbacks before this suv, so just trying to learn :-)
-
Yea, The box was a custom professionally built box that used all the hatch space in my Integra.. I have an Xterra now, since my integra got hit. I should be fine using that box for a bl until I save up the money to build one for the bl right?

Thanks for the replies guys.. But now I'm being all indecisive. I went over to Fi's site and the BL 15 stood out to me. Not that the Icon doesn't seem good or anything, but the BL is $324.00 whereas the Icon is $385.00 I just don't know what to do lol. Also I want to be able to use my current box for a while, and Im not sure which sub it would suit best. I can't remember the exact cubic feet, but if I remember correct, it's tuned to 33hz. And like stated before, I just want to make sure I'm not going the wrong route with pairing any of the listed subs with my current amp.
-
Ok, so I think I am leaning towards an Icon 15. Just curious though. SPL is nice and all, but I'm looking for ""SQL"", but can get loud at the same time. Do you think this sub would give me what I am looking for, or should I look at something else? Also before anyone brings up building a proper box and tuning it correctly... I know :-) Edit: also thinking about a Sundown X
-
You say they are misnomers, But I want to make sure what I get is correct for my setup. And if a Sae-1200d would be a good amp to push a SSA Icon 15.
-
Um, can someone remove that from my thread please. lol
-
Wouldn't the icon be a bit overkill for my amp? Edit: Just saw a video on one on an Sax-1200, and it was slammin!
-
Not exactly sure what fried it. I ran that setup for more than 3 years. I was driving to work, and had my system up pretty loud, hit a really low note, then no more sub. Couldn't figure out what the issue was until, I checked the voice coil's and one was bad.
-
Would like to try to stay under $300 Edit: Just curious is an SA 15 could take all of the Sae-1200d or if I should look for something a little beefier
-
I have watched a few videos on the Sundown Sa-15 and it seems to beat pretty hard. What is your alls opinion on it?
-
Topic says is.. I'm still running a Fi ssd 15 and a Sundown sae-1200d.. I know I'm not giving a lot of detail here, but should this setup hit the lows like in the song " White Girl " ? If so do I need a new box tuned to a lower hz?
-
The box is about 5-6 years old. And it does look just like the 15 box in that link, other than the fact that mine doesn't have the recessed area
-
And, Is Sub up port back still the correct setup for a hatch?
-
1. The enclosure is a prefab memphis box. 2. From calculations it's tuned to around 37 Hz. 3. Integra Gsr Hatchback 4. I know the box is tuned way to high! Is there any Integra builders out there that wouldn't mind helping for a box design? I want to keep back seat's, But anything behind the rear seats in the hatch is fair game!

Sorry if this is the incorrect thread. But I wasn't sure where to put it. Ok here we go. I'm planning on upgrading a lot of the parts on my car to Carbon fiber. my question since I don't have a lot of experience is, would it be a bad idea to install a Carbon fiber Hatch on my car? The reason I'm asking is because I am unsure of the strength of carbon fiber. I don't want to put it on, just to have my system shatter or crack it or something.

@ Ohjay Will do @ S.deYoung. Don't worry. I only buy Good Quality parts for my vehicle :-)
