Old thread, but just wanted to say how much I love mine too. I have an older model 12" ssd with "BP" power, D1, in a 2.5 cube 35hz box. Im running 2ohm on a AQ2200D and love it. I get a lot of people on demos who love the capabilities of this price range setup. It is really impressive, and some people who do not know much about car audio are shocked when I pop open the trunk, and all they see is one 12"!

Anyone done a fiberglass build in a mazda 6 sedan? I have this idea of putting my 15" ssd in the center, behind the seats, with two 6" aeroports (one on each side of the sub). This would be firing into the cabin. I have my rear seats down 90% of the time, so I would imagine it would sound great. Anyone done it, or know how? I am looking for someone to take on this project for me, as I have never done it, and wouldnt quite say I have the time to do it either.. Anywho, im in Keller Tx and if anyone is interested I am willing to pay. Im looking to stay in the 3.5-4 cu ft. range, tuned at 33-35 hz. Im rocking a 08 mazda 6 sedan (not the cool hatch model). So I was on my way to work this morning and saw a dude in a lancer with some fi stickers and a sundown sticker. Might you be on SSA?! Otherwise I live in Keller Tx, home of everyone with an alpine type r, or wants an alpine type r. lol... Speaking of... Just recently had a owner of two 12" type r's ride in my mazda 6 (3.5 cubed box @ 33hz 15" fi ssd running 1k rms). He pretty much was "not impressed" bahahhaa. He said mine was crystal clear, but not very loud. The only thing I have going against me is my sub is pointing straight up at a panel, until I can get a box that fits. I did not plan my build properly at the time B-). Anywho, random post, but was just curious!

Sorry for keeping you on edge man!!! Sorry sorry sorry!! lol. I just got home!! Thats what I failed to mention, it is slightly (very slight) below 35 hz so Im good on that. I knew not to mess up like that again (that was how I ruined my first system years ago). I figured I was just worrying about it, but I just wanted to be safe on this new box setup!! Hey guys!!! So I am currently running a box built from Dave the box guy. Its 2.5 cubes after displacement, tuned at 35 hz. I have a the ssd with flatwound and bp power, a 2010 model. Anyway, I LOVE the way this thing sounds. But I got to thinking.. I know that Fi Recommends the max ported box space to be 2.5 cubes, and thats what I run. But I am still a novice, and got curious about mechanical handling... Would running this at 1000 watts rms daily (MB Quart ONX 1500.D amp) be okay to do? Cuz thats what I am running, with the amp tuned as well. Just wanted to make sure that may check out okay, or do I need to reduce my amps tuning? Thanks guys! -Chance

GSG has some great deals ( I know this cuz my boss is a tightwad lol).

+ a million on the ssd. Im running a 15" ssd with BP power in my mazda 6 Sedan and it sounds GREAT. I get a lot of wows from people on how "loud yet clear" it is. Im running a mb quart discus on it at 1k rms and it takes it just fine, even with the gain tuned a little under halfway with an o-scope. I live in Texas, which is typically hot in summer, and I have only heard it clip a few times when it is really hot out (whether coincidence or not). The even funnier part is its not even at its full potential, cuz I have the sedan model, and the box was too big to fit how I had planned. The sub is pointing straight up on the panel, and I am pretty sure it is taking away a lot of the energy of the bass. The only person that didnt like it was some dude with two 12" Alpine Type R's. He "was not impressed" I tend to ramble a lot on here when I get off work.. So long story short, amazing and definately under rated sub.

How risky is it? I searched this forum and the web, and did not find this specific instance of question. I would be wiring it to 2 ohms (1200rms). Had I known bass would get this addictive, I would have got a BTL off the bat!!

I drive a 08 mazda 6i sedan, non bose. I have a LOC with 2 pairs of rcas (front/rear). Right now I have a 2-channel amp for the front 2 speakers on the front rcas, and a monoblock for my sub on the back. Well I purchased a 4 channel amp, and 2 bass shakers (one for under eachseat up front). What I was planning on doing, is switching my 2 channel amp for the 4 channel, so all 4 speakers would be on the 4 channel amp, and the 2 channel with the bass shakers. The monoblock will be untouched, if it doesnt need to be. Do I need to just use rca splitters, or could I just run the 4 channel off the front RCA, and use the rca output of the monoblock to feed the 2 channel? Im afraid of running all that on the stock crappy head unit. I am replacing it eventually, but idk when. Help and opinions greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Chance

@Theluker: I have actually, and I will more than likely do that, with time! My next big thing is a head unit.. I am still running on the stock one, and I am ready to move on from it! I just like asking a lot of questions, so I can get an idea of things. @watts09: For sure man! I am always keeping it in check, esp. now that it is summer time. I reduced the gain on mine for the summer cuz Texas summers are super hot. I would imagine all that heat is not good for it. I have already started clipping on a few songs that I havent played in a while. Idk if that has anything to do with the Texas heat or not, or just because I havent heard them in a while to know.. But I decided to reduce my gain today, as it would never clip on hardly any songs. Maybe its in my head? Pretty sure I heard it clipping for once today though lol. (I am very paranoid on blowing mine btw) I used to be stupid with my old system, and blew it a year ago or so. I decided to learn some things, and get more in tune with sounds and smells! Lol. I do not own one yet, but I was considering it!! I want one sooo bad! I will probably save cash for a while and move up to a btl. My MB Quart Discus is doing pretty well so far. No telling what the true power is, but until I get a better job or money is free, I am stuck with this lol.

I know this sounds crazy and out of this world, but I have gotten bad rcas before... I have not read this whole post so sry if that was brought up or if the problem was solved. My rcas started shorting, and then they wouldnt play as loud,t hen they quit working one day. I bought new rca wires, and it was perfect.

Wow!! Thats a lot of responses!! Thanks to everyone's response! I do currently ALWAYS check for sounds, smells, and I will feel my dustcap on some hot days just to see that Im not frying eggs back there B-). I am very respectful/take good care of my system as is, and I do not have it in the budget to purchase it, and assume it cant handle it. Thats why I figured I would ask some fellow members, because its not very well published a lot on the web running that combo so I figured Id ask. I have done my tuning with an oscope in the past, and would probably do so witht his one. Although I probably wouldnt touch the gain to be quite honest with you. This is used A LOT daily, like sometimes an hour of straight driving with it cranked all the way, so I am not sure that I will do that. I do like the Idea of owning a BL or BTL, and I have thought to do it someday and sell my ssd, but we shall see B-). This is just some daydreaming for now. I need to get the big 3 done on my mazda first, and maybe upgrade the alt. someday. My alt. seems pretty sucky, but maybe its just me. Maybe someone can chime in, but I am pretty sure is only like an 80 or 120 amp alt. Anywho, I am rambling now, so I will just shut my mouth Thanks everyone!

lol I have nothing against the vehicles!! I like them. I just find the whole wanna be gangsta thing funny. Like seriously, they act and rap like they straight up G, when really they are spoiled rich kids.

haha yeah Best Buy is the huge store here for stereos.... Unfortunately.. lol. We have a few decent stereo shops here but.. again.. They only sell "whats in". We have no DD, Massive Audio, Treo, or any stuff like that over here. I pretty much order online for things.. Darvex, sonicelectronix, manufacturing. sites, etc. Oh yeah, and over here those dang rockstar wheels are huge, and blacking out your truck and stuff. lol. We have a lotta wanna be thug whities over here. Its crazy! Of course I dont judge.. Much :-p Im driving a lowered mazda 6i.

I know dude... Like, I have no problem with companies, its just there are more options out there than JL, MTX, Kicker, and Alpine.. Those are the biggies over here. Oh and Rockford Fosgate lol, which I personally feel they have some good amps. But yeah man, it was like a "oh please" when he acted like my system was "no biggie". Shoot, if there is anyone local here they should just respond on here! haha.
