Actually I heard the 3 way on the board and it was powered by a 4 channel Arc Audio amp and so was the 2 way. I might even run the two way I have now on a 4 channel amp and see if that is what I like. What you are looking for has less to do with the number of speakers and more to do with the installation and tuning, and some to do with speaker selection and personal preference. Short story is that it's entire possibly for you to have worse results with an active 3-way using those Seleniums than sticking with the Morel's you have now. You're drawing an illogical conclusion that because you liked the Morel 3-way better than the 2-way in the particular scenario in which you listened to them, that any 3-way will be better than a 2-way......there's far more to it, it's not that simplistic. Regardless, even if you wanted to move to a 3-way that Selenium is still not the way to go about doing it.

Yeah I am thinking of doing the components on a 4 channel amp like the Arc Audio amp that does 75 x 4 not sure of the model number off hand. Also a friend of mine told I could go the Zapco route with their DC series. He told me to take the tweeters out of the door and throw it on the a pillars and just keep the mid in the door or could go kickpanel on that one. Now with that being said is their anyway you can easily replace speakers once they are installed in the kickpanel and a pillars? Thank you
-
Dude I can build stuff that is not a problem. Imaging is since I do not like to have big speakers or speakers with a big magnet on the a pillar. Tweeters are okay on the a pillar. Yes $500 for both kickpanels though to. In true honesty the reason why I am jumping on the three way wagon is that I heard the Morel two way and their three way components with rock music and the three way brings the guitar to life where the two way does not. Also in my research a lot of people at the competitions use three way setup front and sub in the trunk when they do not have rear speakers. Then again they tuned their system to the IASCA cd which I have a copy of and to be honest was not a big fan of most of their tracks though. If you're wanting help from the people on this forum, you should start listening to the questions they're asking. Once you do this you will receive allot of useful help, not just a bunch random information, like what speakers I like or somebody else likes. This guy you know at this shop is charging you $500 for what exactly, 2 kick panels? Are you mechanically inclined, at all, if you are you can do a little research, ask some informed questions and have some custom enclosures that you built and can be proud of. Do you own basic power tools, Jig saw, drill, circular saw, if you do these aren't that hard to construct. I think you'll be surprised if you try it for yourself. I wouldn't pay for this, but that's me. I can't imagine how well built they will be or how well they will sound if it only is going to take a day to build. I spent very little time on aiming and placement on 2 speakers and I've got a couple of weeks ( 2-3 hours a day) listening to find what I thought sound good to me. I'm not trying to be an ass, I just think you'll have better results if you take a little time to learn how too do the things you're interested in and you'll save allot of $$$$ in the process. Good luck!

Oh I should mention that I like to listen to my music loud and I listen to rock music a lot especially artists like Seether, Evanescence, Nickelback, Nonpoint and some reggae, techno and classical to.

Actually the components are in stock locations but I am going to try to build a kick panel since I have a how to guide and I know the guy at the local shop will charge me $500 for it and plus that it would only take a whole day. He is charging me $500 instead of the regular price because him, his brother and his crew love me and they always enjoy my character and me being there. So if I leave my ride over by them I would do it when I go on my one week vacation since they are cool with me leaving my ride their for 7 days although it would take a 1 day job. Thank you Ebrahim

Eclipse CD 5030 Morel Dotech Ovation 6 powered by an Arc Audio KS 300.2 Morel Maximo 6.5 coaxials powered by an Arc Audio XXD 2080 Arc Audio XXD 10s powered by an Arc Audio KS 500.1 Mini

Honestly my friend the Morel Dotech Ovation[ 2 way component set] are good but looking for more midrange sorry that is my end goal at the end of the day. Now I was told by a Morel dealer that if I wanted to go 3 way with Morels I need to buy a whole new component set where as the Morel tech support in NY told me I could just get their midrange which is a whole lot cheaper and added it on to my two way set.

From my experience I would go with the following Boston Acoustics Hertz Mille Morel Hybrid Ovation and higher in their food chain Those are the ones I like to be honest with you but if you go the DIY route. Tweeters Hertz Mille Morel Midrange Hertz Morel Selenium They are a whole bunch of speaker companies out there.
-
Actually the Seleniums are 6WP4 to be honest with you. Actually I am going to go with the Morel MT22 tweeters up front, the Selenium 6 WP4 up front and the Morel 7" midbass under the seat in a 06 KIA SPECTRA SX sedan. Speaker locations for the speakers are the tweeter and midrange in the kickpanel and if the midbass cant go door then goes under the seat. I got under the seat idea when car audio and electronics magazine did a BMW 3 series with the midbass under the seat and it is in their current issue. Amps are Arc Audio because I love them over Zapco and the headunit is an Eclipse CD 5030 and the subs are Arc Audio to. Thank you all

I would say an 8 inch sub would be good. Then again how much room are you willing to sacrifice to on the ride? That is another question and take into consideration room for amplifier and other audio goodies to.

Honestly I have a pair of Arc Audio XXD 10s[dual 4 ohm] ported and they are receiving 150 watts rms each [ 300 x 1 @ 4 ohm] due to the amp operating at a 4 ohm load. Now I am willing to go to a 2 ohm load where it is 500 x 1 @ 2 ohms. Also I am going to use the same ported enclosure for a pair of Fi Audio subs [not sure of the model but it is the one where they offer single 4 ohm and single 2 ohm voice coils]. Now I know I will have a lot of rattle when I do that due to the face I have an 06 KIA SPECTRA SX sedan. Also note I have 6.5 coaxials in the rear deck since people sit in my car sometimes. To let you the amplifiers are all Arc Audio amps to. Plus I have a Kinetik KHC 600 battery that may or may not keep debating on that one to.
-
Dude those old school Kicker subs bring back some good memories. You still have them or did you sell those already?

I have the Morel Dotech Ovation 6 two way set and was wondering if I could still use them to go three way sometime next year. I actually was thinking of using the Selenium 6 inch midwoofers as midrange or should I just get another midrange for this? I actually was told to use the Morel midrange but some say go with Hertz Audio midrange. What you folks think and I am going active with this in the future. Thank you.

Well expect a technical call from me next year when I am hunting down a pair of tens in a ported enclosure.

Alternator vs Second battery
orlandoman posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Now I was told is that you swap out your factory battery and replace it with a better battery and high out put alternator. Others mention that I should have two batteries one for the car and the other for the stereo and high out put alternator. What should I do? Also are Odyssey batteries good since I have a PCJ 12OO under the hood. -
Well people I am debating to whether to keep my Arc Audio amps installed or take my Zapco DC amps out of the closet and swap the Arc Audio for the Zapco DC. If you were doing the SQ build which one would you do? Thank you Ebrahim

Alternator vs Second battery

2006 KIA SPECTRA SX sedan GEAR 1. Eclipse CD 5030 2. ARC AUDIO KS 300.2 3. ARC AUDIO KS 500.1 MINI KS300.2 It is running the Morel Dotech Ovation 6 two way set [180 x 2 @ 4 ohms] KS 500.1 MINI Running the Diamond Audio D3 15 sealed [ 500 x 1 @ 2 ohms] Sub Selling my DA so that I can get a Fi Audio SSD 12 sealed or ported. Now I have a distribution block with digital volt meter. It reads 14.4 when the system is on but it goes down to 12.5 but head lights flash / dim like crazy. I was told to add a second battery but I only know SPL vehicles that have more than one battery. I was thinking of going with a XS power battery in the rear and a Universal alternator that is 220 amps or one from DC Electric 160 amps or even one from a Chevy or GM vehicle that is 120 amp. My alternator is 80 amps although some claim it is 90 amps. -
Amp decision
orlandoman replied to orlandoman's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I should of mention I am planning to run my Morel Dotech Ovation 6 active which is a two way but going three way active in the middle of next year. Also I have an Eclipse CD 5030 head unit installed that I am going to use and I am selling my Diamond Audio D3 and replacing it with a SSD12 or SSD15 from Fi Audio. Thank you Ebrahim -
Okay I am looking for some help in this forum because I am loosing hair over this. I currently have a system in my ride and it is progress though. Eclipse CD 5030 ARC AUDIO KS 300.2 MOREL DOTECH OVATION 6 ARC AUDIO KS 500.1 MINI DIAMOND AUDIO D3 15 Now first things first the KS 300.2 is powering the components at 180 x 2 @ 4 ohms The KS 500.1 Mini [500 x 1 @ 2 ohm] is powering the Diamond Audio D3 15 [1.75 sealed enclosure]. Anyways looking to swap out the Diamond Audio D3 for a Fi Audio sub most likely the SSD 15. I was told to get a single dual 1 ohm sub and wire it in series to make it a 2 ohm sub. Anyways I have a pair of Selenium 6 Midwoofers that are 8 ohm and most likely go three way up front or go crazy with something different. Does anyone know if the SSD would be able to handle 500 watts without dying on me? Has anyone tried the Fi Audio IB subwoofers as midbass or even on the rear deck? I know it is a tall order and I am sorry. Thank you Ebrahim

i need help pickin a good h.u with good eq qualities
orlandoman replied to jrb00992's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Eclipse makes good ones because you get the following 1. Adjustable 10 band eq and you can save 5 different settings to the head unit. 2. Adjustable 3 way crossover. 3. Time Alignment / Time Delay. 4. Position Selection. That is all I can remember about the sq adjustments. Now if you are running Zapco amps with their DSP then you want all the the settings on this headunit FLAT. Depending on your setup the Time Alignment/ Time Delay is still adjustable and use able on the head unit. -
