Just a pair of Nightshade 15's, 8 cubic ft box, tuned to 32hz. Powered by a single SAZ-3000d. Here's a pic of the box

148.7 sir that was in the bandpass of my truck, so I wouldn't expect too many people to be able to duplicate that number. The next round of testing that started tonight will show more realistic numbers for most people.

Like I said, the roof is horrible sounding, and my camera doesn't pick up flex at all
-
The roof makes a horrible sound, he's ordered some sound deadener, just waiting on it to get here.

this is not my vehicle, it's a customers.

Video #2 for the day:

yes, the 146 was in my friend's truck, tuned for daily, this wasn't a burp box. On music, there's only one word to describe it: violent!!!!!!! It doesn't sound bad at all, being an SPL woofer, but it's definately not an SQ sub, you can tell that as soon as you look at it. I would run it daily on 3k, but would be nice to it on that power daily. So far, it seems to like larger boxes than most SPL subs also. So far, we've put the 12 in 2.5 and 3.4 cubic ft boxes, and it was louder in the 3.4 cubic ft box. We'll see if that changes when we get about double rms power on it though, it may need the smaller box then.

building a couple boxes today to try to squeeze everything I can out of it, but so far, I'm super impressed, especially given the price of this subwoofer. We've thrown 3400 clamped watts at it daily for over a week, and we can get it hot, but so far no smells or problems. We've absolutely beat the snot out of this woofer and it takes it like a champ. Best score so far on 3400 clamped watts in my truck: 148.7..... So far, I can't find anything I don't like about the performance of the woofer, being SPL based. It has outclassed the DD 9512 in every aspect so far. We're going to put more power to it tomorrow, and see how it does in a pure, high power burp situation. After testing is complete, this is a woofer that I would like to hang on to, and sell the Digital Designs woofer. I have found a home for this one, and I will probably order a 15 in the near future for another project.

Same box, 6th order bandpass, upped the power to a SAZ-3000d, and pulled a 146.2 Pretty impressed with this woofer, I'd put it against any other SPL woofer and it's very close to any of them. Add in the low price, and you've got a winner.

noticed the LFB2K is available in 16V, and I need a couple 16V batts for an upcoming show. Just wondering what the lead time is on them, I'm kind of in a time crunch.

we will test it on music and tones this weekend
-
As the sub is breaking in, of course it's getting louder. Later this week we'll do the full on SPL testing, pushing it to it's limits. I'm impressed so far, 142's on a single 12 on a 1500 watt amp that's tuned in the low low 30hz range is pretty impressive. Maybe I'll get to take a few videos today of it on music.
-
tried my damnest to get a 140 out of it, just so I could talk smack, but I'm impressed with the number, since the box is tuned to 34hz and the subs are seeing around 350 watts or so. Forgot to mention, these are the 10's also.

Good job Jake........ Can't wait to see what you have in store for the truck.
-
I have 2 of those, and getting 2 more hopefully this week, unfortunately, I don't want to kill the poor little woofers, so I'll stick with the 100.4 on them......lol
-
I'll be doing some more testing later in the week on high power on the SPL12, but as of right now, I'd say that you don't need to run 10k or even 4k to get the sub loud, we've been using it daily on 1500 watts, and it's most impressive.

washed the car...it still kind of makes me cry inside

Is that an LSC? Looks like LSC wheels on it. I've always loved the Mark VII's. Easy car to make a sleeper, because most of the Mustang 5.0 parts fit on it. -
we had a local guy running one at .5 for a long time, but I wouldn't suggest it. Just because he got away with it, doesn't mean you'll have the same luck.

Did a little more testing tonight. Threw the SPL 12 and the 6th order bandpass tuned looooooooow into a friend's truck on a SAZ-1500d. Everyone who was in the shop was amazed by the output. Had around the same output on music as his DD 3518 on the same amp. Did a 142.3 on the Termlab sealed and legal at 38hz. Told you the bandpass was tuned low in the beginning. Not too bad for a single 12" woofer on 1500 watts, when it's rated at 2500. In comparison, the DD 9512 did a 142.0 in the same setup. On Monday the fun begins, I'm going to build the SPL boxes for it tomorrow, and we'll give it a good run and see what it will do in the environment it was designed to perform in. What amazed me was the low end output, for it being an SPL sub. Definately has more low end than the DD 9512, and sounds very smooth, where the DD is very mechanical sounding. So far I'm impressed with it, can't wait to see what it will do given RMS power and then some. I let my friend wire up the sub tonight, and he had the same comment about the terminals though. They really are hard to get tight because the space is so small.

Damn nice considering the low wattage and they are 200wrms subs! Pretty impressive if you ask me! What do you think of them in the SQ department? They sound great!!!!!!!! What I really like is that it's been a long time since I had a sub in my car that would play anything and sound good. It has a perfect blend at any volume, I'm used to overpowering bass at low volumes, so I'm loving it right now.

for great low end, fire the port and sub back

I'm fairly impressed so far with this subwoofer. A few people heard it today, and couldn't believe I was running a single 12. 1st off, if you're looking for a nice, civilized subwoofer, this isn't it. When you want something just to break doors down and steal your oldest daughter, this could possibly be the subwoofer. While comparing it with the DD 9512 directly, it has better musical abilities than the DD, and doesn't give up much at all in pure loudness to the DD. I'll have them both on the meter later this week, so I'll know exact numbers then. My 1st impression after setting the gains to give the sub a clean 1500rms, which is rated power was that this thing needs more. I then bumped it up to right at 3000 watts, and in the 6th order, it seemed to be a bit overkill. I could get the sub to stink rather easily, although it cooled off extremely fast once I backed down a bit. The cooling system seems to work extraordinarily well on this sub. I kind of figured in a 6th order, 3000rms may be a bit much, but decided to give it hell anyways. Although I would feel comfortable doing bassrace in the bandpass with 3000 watts in my setup. I think that for daily driving, 2000-2200 watts would be perfect. Since there are really no posted T/S parameters on these, I'm going to place a guess that the Fs is in the low 40hz range. Couple that with the fact that my box peaks at 44hz, and my car peaks at 44 hz, this sub can only be described as brutal. It doesn't have that mechanical sound that I've come to hear from most SPL oriented drivers, especially the DD 9500's, which is great. It's a bit smoother sounding, but at least in my setup, where everything kind of collides at 44hz, this sub is a beast. If I wasn't enjoying it so much, I'd do some max power testing on burps, but I'm sure IA has already done that, so I'll stick with around 3000rms on it, and continue to just smile when people don't believe it's only a single 12.

Incriminator Audio Death Penalty 12" review

If you know when enough is enough, I don't see a problem with it. Just be smart about it.
