You can guess what I'll be in........... A Black Stratus R/T debadged. Just look for the Sundown sticker on the rear window, and I'll be running Pro Trunk. I caught the thread about the amps also, and they are right, but the judges should have verified also. Some people just don't know the rules, or don't understand them.

Should be fine. oops, didn't see the .5 strapped comment...............

The 4 1500's are going on a pair of DD 9510's at 1 ohm strapped per pair per woofer. The 100.4 is going to be running 2 sets of CDT HD's with stagefront and centerstage systems. The 100.2 is going to be running a pair of CDT M6's in the kicks. Any guesses on what this monstrocity is that the 10's are in?.........

no test results on the sundown 100.2 and 100.4?

DCR was 3.2 ohms. I specialize in building boxes with very low impedance rise, and although I didn't measure the reactive load, it was probably somewhere just over 4 ohms. It's been a long time ago, and we were never really planning on posting the numbers, so I really don't remember what the amp/volt outputs were. We can do it again in a few days and get the actual numbers though. -
We've been having incredible results with a single 1500 running a single DD 3500, so I would expect similar results from the Q or BL.

We clamped a 100.2 bridged at 4 ohms and came up with 482 watts at 14.4V. This is on a subwoofer also, not a bench test, but I've heard from 2 different people that the 100.2 was considerably louder than the 800 watts Class D amps that they replaced. I like all the amps from Sundown, but price for performance, the 100.2 is a steal. We're going to put one bridged at 4 ohms on a DD 1015 sometime this week, and I'll post some observations. -
Yes, TermLab on the dash, sealed up, sensor 12" from the passenger's side A-Pillar

Well, I noticed the 1st victim thread, so I figured I'd post up the 2nd victim of the strapped Sundowns here. Sub is a Mmats Juggernaut motor that was reconed by RE. It had about 10 burps on it, and 30 seconds on music, although it wasn't happy before the 30 seconds on music run. It was already rattling, but I figured I might as well take it out in style:

Good Job on the win, wish I could have been there, but I'll be defending my record at Roanoke Rapids with 4 1500's on 2 DD 9510's....... Should be fun, hope to see you there.

Mag Test for NSPL Competition on Sat. March 10th
stratusrt01 replied to KLUVKUSTOMS's topic in Sundown Audio
It's today at Border Motorsports in Dillon, SC. About 30 minutes from my house, so it's a good drive for you. Sorry, I wish I'd have seen this soon, it's a little late now. -
Mag Test for NSPL Competition on Sat. March 10th

Wish I could be there, since the show is right down the street from my house, but I have to work. I will be at the 3X show in Roanoke Rapids on April 8th though. -
I have to agree, I like the screw terminals. It always seems that I could never find the right sized allen wrench when I need one.....lol

Sundown Audio owns the NSPL Pro Trunk World Record
stratusrt01 replied to stratusrt01's topic in Sundown Audio
I probably won't make that show, given the fact that I need to tear down and rebuild again before the next World Record show, and money is tight. I will be there sometime to watch though. Kind of sucks too, because it's only 30 minutes from the house. I may try to borrow a woofer and run just to get some points though, but I'm really just trying to get the 4 amps and the new setup in for the next 3X World Record show, since there will actually be some competition there. Steve Sears hit 151.3 last year, and he's going to be in Roanoke Rapids, so I've got to step it up a little. Shouldn't be too hard, given the fact that my rear deck wasn't modified at all, and even had speakers in it still. Twice the power, tuned higher (I was using my daily box, tuned to 32hz), and much less metal in the car should help a lot. -
143.3db out of a trunk, unmodified rear deck, seats up with a single 15, a new NSPL World Record. Found out my alternator was dying and was only charging at 11.6V also, so burps were done in the 10.7V range also, so not too bad for the 1st time out with the overnight install. Another show on April 8th, at that show we'll get serious and throw down some 149-150's with the seats up.

I noticed on the way home that my headlights were very dim, so I pulled over and popped the DMM on the alternator. It kind of scared me, since I was about 2 hours from home at the time, but I creeped it in. Keeping the record with all the shows coming up will be the trick. There's some guys hitting big numbers. Maybe 2 more 1500's and a Niteshades will help me hold onto it for a while. -
Because of airspace requirements, I have to make a choice, and I'm not doing very well at it. My amplifier is a Memphis Belle, running 1100 watts rms @ 1 ohm to the subwoofer side of the house. My debate is between 2 RL-i's ported, getting about 550rms each, or 4 sealed getting 250rms each. I'm looking for LSQ, I need a good mix, and want people to say: "What kind of 12's are you running"....
-
I know about the port length. The box I've got on paper is 33" long, but only 19" of it is actual airspace, the rest is port.
-
43 seems a little too high for me, but I was thinking about 35 so that I didn't have a port 3.25x12.5 and 90+ inches long just to get the tuning down low. How does 1.4cubes shared chamber, 35 hz with 37.5 square inches of port, 53.75 inches long sound?
-
What size box are you going with for you 8s and what kind of power ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mike recommended .65 tuned at 25hz, which I'm trying to design for now. We'll see how that works out, because that's going to be a loooong port.
-
I'm looking to blow some minds of the ghetto people around here who think bigger is better. I was thinking about running 4 RL-i 8's tuned to around 30hz off of a Hifonics 2006d. I'm hitting 142db currently with a single 9500 12, and would like to at least be just as loud, if not louder. What do you guys think?
-
I also have an old BP1200.1 that would put 300 watts to each one, I'll try them both out and see which one sounds the best.

I don't have room for 4 10's, plus just the "cool" factor of 8's, and talking to my wife, I think I'm going to let her run one of my TREO SSXD1500's at 1 ohm instead of getting her the Hifonics. We aren't too hard on subwoofers, but I'm wondering how they would hold up under daily driving with 750 watts rms on each one.
