OK, I put the 12" ones in a TTB designed T-Box that was built for Lanzar Optis. I figured they would be OK in that box, but nothing spectacular. Both are High Q subs, with similar Fs, so I figured I'd give it a try. Hooked them up in my office on a 300 watt Bash plate amp, and gave them about an hour of playtime. At least in this type of box, response is very flat from 26-70hz, which is where I crossed them over. Output was awesome, they were knocking pictures off the walls in my office. I'm going to try to take a couple videos if I can get my wife out of the house for a little while again. All in all, these woofers have my blessing for low power, low budget setups, you won't be disappointed. Don't let their meek appearance shy you away like they did me.

just add 1/8" to any subwoofer cutout Jacob gives you............lol

I've done 2 trunk SPL setups. For daily driving, it's hard to beat sub back, port back or to the side. For SPL, subs firing forward, port to the driver's side, playing with the box placement has always yielded the best numbers in my car comparitively, but also sounds like complete crap on music.

I ran 4 SAZ-1500's to a pair of DD 9510's and they never even broke a sweat. -
Yep, it's all gone......... The rear deck has been rebuilt for the new setup, but I'm not entirely happy with the fitment, so I think I'm going to redo it again. It's mostly grill cloth now, but still has some bracing under it to give the back window some strength back.

looks good man, I kind of went a little more extreme, but that was because of my class in NSPL. Wait until you guys see the new setup, it's going to be insane to say the least.
-
Looks like a good project, lots of sanding though. I don't have the patience for that.......lol

I would add another 1800 in the rear, but that's just me.

Big Tablesaws FTW!!!!!!! It's nice to have a 36" fence capacity after working for years on one of those tabletop saws.

Sometimes it pays to have an insomniac working for you huh? Christy will carpet it in the morning, and I'll see about possibly bringing it up to you. Paint was still a little wet, so it looks splotchy, but it's not like that in person.

yeah, I did, thanks man, just keep me updated.

I waited 2 months for a DD 9510G, so 6 days is nothing.

I have had no problems turning Sundown around here, when I had the 4 1500's and the pair of 10's, people were flocking to buy them. Wait until they hear the 4 3000's on the 4 10's this winter, or the 2 3000's on 2 12's next week.

The whole Qts argument is flawed, plus the tuning for SQ using those parameters is absurd. There's no basis behind it, and obviously he's never done anything SQ related, or he'd know better. As far as the low Qts being better for SQ, we all know that's crap, but instead of using jargon to explain why that noone will understand, here's some specs that show it to be BS. SPL Subwoofers: BTL: .200 DD 9500: .250 SQ or LSQ subwoofers: Focal Utopia: .495 IDMax: .341 SI Mag: .410 FI SSD: .440 RE MX: .434 RE XXX: .404 Now, by using your theory that the low Qts driver is more tight and accurate, that would make the DD 9500 and Fi BTL much better SQ woofers than even the Focal Utopia...

diy one I had a DIY one, but I should have made it out of Lexan, I made it out of 1/4" wood, and the holes would wear out, and the hole change sizes slightly. I also ran into problems because there's too many different woofer sizes that are close to each other, but not far enough away to drill another hole without weakening the wood, so I broke down and bought the Jasper.

I think you're just confused period, and you're contridicting yourself all over the place, what applies to one subwoofer, applies to them all. If that's what they teach at Installer's Institute, I'm so glad I do my own work. I'm done with this thread, as it is going nowhere, and you won't admit that you are pulling BS out your ass now.

I am dealing with the circle problem right now. My jigsaw is not having fun cutting through 2.25 inches of mdf. The most my jigsaw has done is 1.5" and that was about it's maximum. You should probably cut one sheet at a time I need one of those jigs like Rich has for the router. That is the only way to do it if you do much box building at all. takes about 20 seconds to cut a perfect hole, just the time and aggravation saved is well worth the $40ish it cost.

I've owned both subs, and have to agree with ngsm 100%...... MTX has better SQ, BTL will get louder and take more power. There's a lot more to how a sub sounds than reading it's Qts. By your reasoning the BTL is a better SQ sub than the SI Mag, DD 9100, etc, and most other true SQ and LSQ subs.

I've always liked the way they sound, especially in extended cab trucks.

The MTX 9500 in the proper box is not narrow at all. Don't get me wrong, it definately isn't the LSQ driver that the IDMax or SI Mag is, but trying to say it's a one note wonder is not correct. Definately not my favorite subwoofer, but saying it's a copy of the DD 9500 is totally incorrect, the 9500 was MTX's attempt to compete with the JL W7, and MTX makes no secret of that.
-
ummmm, no....... The MTX 9500 is a very musical sub in a decent box, it just doesn't handle high power very well. The coil can take it, but it's mechanically limited, and will smack the backplate. It's definately not a one note sub. How do I know? Because I owned one for a long time.

two saz 3000ds on two MTX9500 12 or FI BTLS

isn't this the 2nd thread on this? MTX 9500's won't take 3000 watts period, and they don't burp well, just too much moving mass. -
The joys of Street A.........Wouldn't it be so much easier to slap a battery bank in there.......lol
