Scottsdale Paviions, Saturday March 5th!!
DarkTinman posted a topic in Competitions & Other Organized SPL/SQ Events
Alright guys, so i have been constantly complaining about not having a meet. Well here we are! An offical SSA meet to showcase SSA. We are going to the Scottsdale Pavilions and we are gonna mob there together. Here is the plan, we are going to meet at Agua park and then mob up the street to the pavilions, if your confused... CLICK HERE FOR A VISUAL EXPLANATION! Meet here at 5:45 and then we leave at 6! Please be on time! It would be a lot better if all of us mob in together instead of pockets of people coming in one at a time, if you have any questions, comments, please feel free to post below! Also, please continue to check in because times may change!! We already have four members of SSA officially going! Don't be left out! Also i will be getting Youtube coverage if that interests anyone lol -
Good to hear! I have heard a lot of good things about them but never actually heard it in person! I hope you are satisfied with them! Did they cost less then the soundstream?

I left like 2 voicemails with stan and 5-8 with Kyle. I finally got through to Rob today and talked to him, then transferred to Kyle. I don't know what it is but they never seem to answer their voicemails... Yeah man, sorry i just bump to bump it into the "recent topics" thing on the main forum page. But like i said above, i got a hold of them. You just need to call in again. Maybe someone can hook you up with Rob's phone number!

Fat mat RattleTrap! Omg! It works REALLY well and it's thick. The main thing in buying sound deadner is how thick it is and if it's asphalt based or not. I tried using peel and seal on my trunk and in my doors. Ended up everything coming off, my windows got messed up, my tint messed up, the trunk peel and seal fell off and got all over my amp and stuff. On top of that, it's horrible to clean off. I know you have already decided to run away from peel and seal but i thought i should let you know!

Bumping. Still haven't heard from ANYONE

Just do some more reaserch. I know no one else has said anything about your topic but make sure that there isn't something just as good out there for less. Just because it's "big name brand" doesn't mean that it's the only opition. Like Phi told me, "Don't get stuck on something, there is always better [and/or] products out there"

I will try to. I will let you know if i end up going or not!

Broken case on 250XP. New Design in the works?
DarkTinman replied to j-roadtatts's topic in DC Power Engineering
Yeah. What is the news, and whats up with not answering any calls, emails, or posts? -
I don't know much about it but i know soundstream makes good products. Almost any component amp will sound better then running the speakers straight from the stereo itself

2 AQX3500's :)Thanks man!!That'll give Haha it better! Oh wow. Well all the times i have checked there wasn't even shows in AZ. But the 9th, tomorrow, there is a show? Do you go to shows or have you been not interested? Haha! It's not a rape whistle!! I've been to a few shows when they were in tucson, haven't ventured up to phx for a show yet, certainly not going to do it when I have nothing to show ;)I also saw some pepper spray in the youtube video Oh and your score better jump when your finished with the box, new amps, and batteries. Better beat 150 Haha funny guy! Yeah i hope my score goes up. I am kinda nervous though because right now my box sits at 17 cubes and is probably tuned at 40+. This is good because i am running low power. But once i cut down on my size inside and tune lower, i am scared that my score will actually go down... Oh seriously? The same score as me? Yeah dude!! Wall it!! Haha

Amp & Battery Questions!
DarkTinman replied to DarkTinman's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Wow that's awesome! I really appreciate the picture! I was thinking it was a lot less flexible then that but wow that's awesome! I can't wait to buy some! Thanks for your information with this! -
Yeah man, slowly but surely. Next week hopefully i will be doing a lot more work on it. I will be able to show you the braces we added once i get my front baffle off too. But yeah. Lots of work to do, just never enough time to do it all in

Amp & Battery Questions!
DarkTinman replied to DarkTinman's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Thanks man! This isn't even the ultra flex is it? Yeah that's the problem i am facing right now. I am not quite sure but hopefully it can fit. Plus i want to run... 2-3 runs of 2/0 or 1-2 3/0 wire to the back. I have no idea if that would even have a chance to fit with that. When i first put my kenwood's in and amp, i had my friend install it and he took the front to back cable from the battery across the car, into the back, then it was there. He just didn't run it through the passenger side because we didn't see any holes we could get through. If there is, then i could probably run wire from both sides and be set. Maybe... Alright i will. Just not big on xs or their prices man... -
Thanks man! Can't wait to upgrade! 2 AQX3500's Haha nah man. I work at Jumpstreet so it's part of my uniform. I keep it in there so i don't forget it. When is the show? I had no idea! More information please!! Thanks man!!

Amp & Battery Questions!
DarkTinman replied to DarkTinman's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Yeah i know that. Idk, maybe it's just me. Yeah, haha fuses for sure man. But i am planning to air bag my car so i want to be able to slam it without running the wires. I just rather not spend money to have to keep replacing them. Oh okay, i didn't know man. Sorry i just figured welding wire was going to be different the normal wire but i guess not. Nah man, you have already helped a lot. Thank you! I think i understand it a bit more now, I'm probably going to be using this instead of my 1/0 for my runs and for my big 3! This isn't really my first install. This is my first install with welding wire, but overall, no. I know what i am doing, i know i just sound really stupid on here. I just like to ask a lot of questions, but i do try to answer the obvious ones myself without having to ask. Where exactly through the carpet did you put it? or through the fire wall, then heading towards the center console and all the way to the back. The reason i say i don't know if i can do it like that, mainly because of that trim piece but also because of how my wall is built, i am not sure if i can run a thick gauge wire like that all the way to the back. Would it be overkill to do 3/0 or 4/0? And also, i would want to do some runs of welding wire from the Alternator to the batteries. So i don't know where i would put all of those. -
It's cool that you want to support local business. But when those businesses are taking money from you, lying to you, and doing poor quality jobs. I will not pay more money for them. Why would i pay MORE for LESS, that doesn't make sense. I am here in the Tempe, Arizona scene and here we have pretty sleezy guys. I have been to two of the "top" names in car stereo. Audio express and Sounds good to me. My first experience at Audio express was when i was 16 and had my Honda Accord freshly bought and i was hungry for a system. Not knowing what to get i walked into Audio Express with my dad and 500 dollars on my card from working at Harkins Theaters that summer. I was pretty excited when i walked in to hear bass and saw that the listening room was right there. I listened to the different woofers but before i had left with my dad to get to audio express i had been looking online and had been thinking about either getting Alpine type R's or Rockford P3's, 12 inch ones. The prices straight from Rockford were expensive so i thought by going to a local audio store i could get them for less. After a while we were approched by a guy who worked at Audio Express and we talked for a few moments. Me and my dad started talking to him about what i wanted and what i had in mind. I told him that i wanted to be loud with my bass and maybe rattle some windows. He explained to me that with my budget there was no way that i would be able to get 2 P3's and a high end enough of an amp to get it. Dissapointed and a bit shocked i looked over on one of the shelves and saw a 1000 watt kenwood amp on sale. I asked him if i got that, wouldn't it push 2 Rockford P3's. He told me that the amp would only be able to push 1 P3 and that i could try to push 2 P3's but in the end i would just blow them out. He then explained to me that there was managers special going on and that for only $500 (humm.) that i could get 2 12 inch kenwood's and a 1000 kenwood amp. I told him i would talk to my dad about it. In talking to my dad he explained that maybe i should wait and see if i could get a better deal somewhere else. I tried to ask the guy from Audio Express if i could come back later that week or have sometime to think about it. He told me that the sale was ending in 2 more days. So i ended up buying it. About a year later (2 months ago) my friend had my first amp that i bought from him. I bought warranty on my amp and subs. The amp had not been able to turn on for some reason, and after looking at it I knew that it was something wrong with the actual, not fuses. I tried to get it replaced and he told me that because they don't sell that model anymore, they wouldn't give me a new replacement amp, but that i could get my warranty money back but only half ($10). They also installed my remote start and viper alarm system, i have taken it in 5 times and each time it just breaks again. There is way more to all of this but seeing my story, as long as it is, i think i won't type up anymore because i know you guys don't like to read... lol. Long story short, Local business just try to rip people off and pretend that they are the only solution. Screw that, lets go online. EDIT: P.S. I looked online awhile back and saw i could buy (and ended up buying them for a friend) those subs for 50 each and the amp for 100 dollars. Hum, so i spent 350 more then i needed to. Awesome.

Amp & Battery Questions!
DarkTinman replied to DarkTinman's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Yeah that's exactly what i am saying. I have never seen it installed or being installed. I don't know how flexible it is and i have never seen the actual dimiater of the wire. Well i am going through a grommet in my firewall but i don't know if i can fit a 2/0 wire through it. I don't have any room to really run it through the carpet. I have my 1/0 wire going under my trim pieces. Yeah i know i could run it under my car but i don't want it to get messed up if something while i am driving rubs the isolation off or something like that. I just don't want my wire to get ruined is what i mean. -
Honestly, if you don't know what your talking about please don't post stuff that isn't true. Seeing as i just was talking to some people about this cable and wanted to see how it is used and see what other opinions are about it. When you post false information, people tend to believe or double think about what you posted. I will now look more about it online but for people who aren't smart enough to double check sources, you just threw them on the wrong path. From what i have heard and read, Welding wire is just as good as any car audio wires. When you weld you are using a continuous electrical current through the wire. And to say that when you weld you don't continuously use power is ridiculous. The only thing that i can think of that maybe you got that idea off of is that on some welders it talks about if you use the welder for 5 minutes you need to let it cool for 55 minutes. I have seen that before but i think that pertains more to the welder and the way it needs to cool. Not the wire

Yeah man i know. I am not trying to bad mouth the guy because he has done a lot to raise car audio awareness but i have heard he is a jerk in real life. Even though yesterday i did talk to someone who said he met him and didn't really have anything bad to say about him. I guess it just depends on how you met him which is the same with anyone. Yeah, he gets lots of money from SMD and from Youtube. Oh really? Sweet. -

Well obviously but you don't have people running 2/0 to their amps. I know that most amps wouldn't accept that big of wire either but i was just wondering if anything other then the resistance and the size of the wire. If there was anything different about the 2/0 when talking about welding wire
