Can someone from DC Power Contact ME!!!!
DarkTinman replied to RHoughton1's topic in For Sale/Wanted
Again, BS bro... You got your update.. Have fun finding someone to make you a housing for that alternator... Not that your earlier post was the entire deciding factor, just the icing on the cake, the other 95% of it was the attitude you gave MY employees prior to that on the phone. Let me give you a tip, you want a favor, treat the people giving you the favor nicely and don't be a d*ck on the phone.. Honestly man, that's really dirty. You won't even answer my phone calls or respond to my voicemails. Like i said in the other thread, i am sorry that i have been upset because i can barely get to work and pay my bills because of an alternator problem that isn't my fault. I don't even make that much money and when i have to call in work because i can't get a ride, i lose even more money for bills. I even had to get my parents to help me out because it's so bad. I was told 2 months ago the problem would be fixed and now you are just throwing me out and telling me good luck? Really man? Again, i am SORRY that things for me have been horrific. I understand that things for your company haven't been going very well or been able to keep up with people. But my well being, my anything is at stake just for this alternator i should've had fixed awhile ago man. When i don't get an answer after leaving multipule voicemails on everyone that works at DC power, it's pretty upsetting. And when i am told from Kyle that my alternator will be taken care of and then i talk to Steve and he tells me that i am shit out of luck? Wouldn't you be pretty upset too? Seeing that it's my DAILY DRIVER?? I didn't expect that your companies alternator would snap on me at all, but it did. I know that i am the second hand owner but the first hand owner was promised, from kyle, that if there were alternator problems that were out of my control, that they would be fixed. And now it's just whatever. I honestly am sorry that you think i am a total arseho, but maybe you should see what i have been through and trying to deal with. Maybe you would understand why maybe i have been upset. But i mean really? Your really willing to discard any chance of me getting my car up and running again, just to stick it to me? Just to put my money that i spent down the drain? Really man? EDIT: I understand your upset, but i am honestly asking that you just help me out here and i won't say another word about your company. Even if someone asks me, i will say that they should just call in. I rather not beg but if that's honestly what it's going to take for you to even think about helping me out through this hard time, at this point, i would do almost anything just to be able to get my life straight again... -
BS Austin, you've been updated obviously it seems you just cant remember what you say.. I mean seriously dude, that was just yesterday and you already forgot that I told you they would be shipping to us Monday, (REPLIED to my post no less)and you'd have it at the absolute latest the end of next week?? Do none of you even pay attention to the fact that it's not us that's holding this shit up?? I dont know how many more times I need to remind you people.. And you want to say it's us that has such horrible CS?? I got news for ya bud, for every one of you I have at least 200 other customers that are more than happy with both our product, AND our customer service. We cant please everyone obviously.. Well i was asking for a specific update for my alternator, not a general whats going on with everything. I didn't even know if you received my alternator! But dude, when i am told that it is going to be one week, then it gets pushed back, and back. What am i to do? I can barley get to work some days and some days i have to call in work because i don't have a car I can even drive over because i have to juggle family cars just to get there. Shouldn't it be your goal to please everyone? I feel like more and more people are having problems with your alternators. It's not my fault my alternator broke.

Alright, well as stupid as this Topic sounds, i have had a lot of questions from other people and myself. When you are building a box we all know that people don't just use 1 layer of MDF, they use 2-3 in heavy applications. In my instance, building a wall. So when i first started thinking/building my wall, i asked a older friend of mine (who is an aerospace engineer) to help me with building this. The only reason i add this in is to try and explain that he isn't a complete idiot. He also explained to me that because he works with airplanes he understands the concept of how vibrations cause things to break and how things have to be sealed. Not only that but he is very crafty with woodwork. Now on to the question, in talking to him i tried to explain that we need to double layer or maybe even triple layer the box we were building. He went on that to explain that the wood doesn't need all of that extra layers and that with proper bracing that we wouldn't need to double or triple any layers because with the layering it doesn't actually strengthen it, it would only help deaden So my question is this, can someone please explain what layering does and why it's needed. Other then just "Yeah, you always need to layer." I am looking for some actual answers please!

DarkTinman replied to RHoughton1's topic in For Sale/Wanted
I haven't gotten back word from anything. I can't even get calls back when i call you guys. Yeah i bought it second hand. After you guys had just fixed it. It wasn't supposed to break again but it did. It's not my fault that i have been out 3 months without a alt because yours broke on me. I haven't been shown good customer service man, i haven't gotten any phone calls back. I have asked for updates and i get none back. I'm not running my mouth, i am just showing the difficulties and the problems in this situation that i semi experience in mine. -
Cool. Well no update on anything with the alternators. I am still sitting here with the assumption that my alt is going to be done but i guess not. I am glad you took care of edouble101 but as i look bad i was the OP of this thread and still haven't been helped or updated. And after reading other threads talking about poor customer service and how one of you are always busy and just can't give a call back. I have YET to get one call from DC power, it's always out going. On top of that, i called everyone at the shop AND left a voicemail with every person there. I didn't get one call back, still haven't gotten one call from DC power. Awesome customer service

I think this is funny. Lots of this in this thread and a lot of excuses. But i just want to point out, one piece, of what happened in this thread. Actually, with the continually poor customer service DC power gives. I want to show this so that we see exactly when he ordered it. I don't believe that DC power told him he would need to wait 2 years+ for his alts+brackets in the first place. Cool, i am glad they are finally finished after TWO YEARS but i am sure the OP would've appreciated knowing it would take this long. Oh so tomorrow is...March 20th 2011? Nope! Tomorrow or AKA the shipping date is now March 21-22nd 2011! Nice! Lol. So it's still not even shipped... -
Yeah and i didn't even really think about it. I have been using an oscope from my buddy but this seems a lot easier and maybe more efficient! Oh! That's me! Except i make 7.36! But i know what your saying, i think I would invest into one of these things. Really cool tool. Seriously! Me too! But i just hate when people assume and i was just trying to explain i am not SMD crazy lol!

Glad you came! I hope i can get some of your advice soon!

Ohio Generator?
DarkTinman replied to Optimus_Prime's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I have talked to them through email and phone. They always seemed to get back to me very quick. I have yet to hear something bad about them. Good luck and for sure let us know what goes down! -
SSA woofer?
-
So did you get it all figured out? I wouldn't yell at Shizz, he told you to not turn it up very loud and to make sure you started at 1 and slowly went up. You probably got it playing loud and kept turning it up. But anyways, it sounds like you figured it out, that's good at least

Lol okay man. For sure. I just was asking

So what do you think about the whole layering situation, MDF inside with fiberglass, MDF inside without fiberglass, or double stack grade (?) plywood?
-
That's a good point. We built big so that we had the option to cut down instead of being screwed. I have 17 cubes that i need to get to 14. The only question i have is, how do a calculate how much space that L is going to take? I am using the Torres Box Tuning calculator and i don't really know how to calculate it

Broken case on 250XP. New Design in the works?
DarkTinman replied to j-roadtatts's topic in DC Power Engineering
Thank you, x3, for the update -
Really? Do you think it would just make it weaker and not worth while? I'd double up all around. Oh really? So with the MDF double layer it, do you agree with stefanhinote on fiberglass? Not that i don't trust him in the least bit but it's nice to see both sides of something. P.S. Me and my build "buddy" talked about doing an L and he says he knows exactly how to do it and has done it so it won't be a problem. Problem solved...?

Well i thought i knew what i was doing at the time. My box actually has a pretty good foundation though Yeah i know but i was GUARANTEED that the plywood, if braced right, wouldn't move an inch. Evmeden though i tried explaining to him that he doesn't quite understand that my subs were being underpowered and the box will flex. But he wouldn't listen so i kinda wanted to do it his way so he could see that he was wrong. But now i realize that now i just will have a shitty box. EDIT: We still did plan though, just not correctly. Just half an inch Hey man there's a first time for everything I'm not ragging on ya. Hopefully you can get everything in order and make it work. Lol yeah for sure bro. Yeah i understand, i just feel super bummed that i did this wrong. I wanted to do it right the first time and i thought i was going to but now i see that i messed up kinda big time. Dang man. Just super bummed. EDIT: Do you think that i should use fiberglass with the inside layer of MDF or just use MDF and bracing?

I guess i understand that and i know how it's done i just don't know if i have room to do it and i am not sure if it can work with a removable port... Yeah yeah. Well we planned a port and we assumed that we had enough space. I apologize for not having everything exact going into this. This is my first box/wall build ever, so i am learning as i go. Why does it have to be MDF? What difference does that make rather then using plywood? I know plywood is more flexible but that's about it. Also, with the port, we made it interchangeable so that way once we mess up the port we can build another one. Because i knew i was going to mess it up some how. I have been asking people questions about what i need and this and that i could never really get a solid response so i just went for it
-
Can you just not use it? It is really a bad material for a box. You should switch to just mdf. The only thing is i have already put the box into my car and there is pretty much no way to pull it out with breaking it down. I wouldn't have a problem with that normally but we have put a lot of work into it and i know my build partner doesn't have enough time to start over given his schedule Going to have to bend it. Before doing anything else I'd recommend posting everything you plan to do up here as it seems like there are some issues. What do you mean bend it? The thing i plan to do is to double layer it with i guess MDF now, then add bracing on top of that to hold the box together, then fiberglass. Also making another removable port for my box and tune it down to 32. With the layering and bracing, i will be sitting at 14 cubes. Right now though, i am sitting at 17

Sorry for the double post! But!! I am having some trouble with my port. I was told to watch my port area because that would make a huge difference and help so that there would be no port noise. Now, tomorrow or maybe tonight if i can find the paper, i will give you what i have in terms of room and will let you know what area i have to work with. But i believe the big problem is to keep the length low, i think i only have 12 inches to work with. Not exactly remembering what it was

2 SSA prototypes with a power handling of 4,000 RMS pushed by 2 AQX3500's, 270xp DC power alt, and then as of right now one 1800 but soon to be 2-3 3100's XS batteries
