Subwoofers are complete. Next picture will be a full picture of the living room!
-
Yes they are the same manufacturer.
-
One of these days I am going to make it out there again. . .
-
Got the basic cabinets done. Installed the drivers and gave them a test run. Sound awesome. Just what we were looking for - good strong, clean bass from 35-100 Hz. Ordered laminate for them yesterday. Just need to roundover the front edges and paint the fronts and backs.
-
That is probably because they strap together great without it. . .

will running a universal sub with a non-universal...

If they are dual 2's, they are the same. If they are dual 1's, one of them has a smaller gap than the other one. There will be some difference, but it should not physically damage them to run them together. Brian -
You said above the SSF is set at 30 Hz. Are you sure it is correct? That means at 30 Hz, you should be down 3 dB already. If I was setting it up, I would turn the SSF at the highest frequency, play 30 Hz at high volume setting, and start lowing the frequency of the SSF until just before you are over stressing the driver. Then see how it works with music. If the SSF setting is too high (music does not sound as good), you may have to tune lower or quit playing so loud with the trunk open I know my box sounds different, and my subs act different when my rear seat is up vs. when it is folded down. . . The calculations look great. Box should be ok per the dimensions you posted. 8.5 ft^3 tuned to 32 Hz. Little low on port area, but it should be enough that it is not acting like a leaky sealed box. . . Do you know what frequency you are playing when they are going crazy??? How far is the trunk lid from the top of the box when it is shut? Do they bottom when the trunk is shut too?
-
?????? Unless the power applied to each coil was far from the same, it will not still play. The magnetic forces of each coil cancel, and it will not do anything to the cone. . .

It is funny how most people who comment are just going off what they have read from other people's posts on forums that they do nothing. . . Caps are not a replacement for a proper electrical system, but they also are not just worthless paperweights. . . I have a 3 Farad under my second row seat near my (3) amps running my doors and plates in the wall. Works great. Brian

Can you post up you box and port dimensions. . . I never had problems with my BTL's going over 2" peak to peak. . . Brian
-
I would get it scoped again. Make sure the gain is set right. Sounds like they are getting pretty hot. When you had it scoped, did you also have a clamp meter to see how much power the amps were actually producing???
-
You also need to remember - what is "a lot". 10, 15, 50. . . Fi has sold HUNDREDS of subs. . .The number of recones asked for is not that many in comparison. But as already stated, most people who buy the BTL run way more power than you should, and then many of those do not set up everything properly. The BTL will handle loads of power, but only if you know what you are doing.

0.35 DCR right?? All coils read a lower DCR than the actual impedance with non-DC applied.
-
Ended up buying (8) of these: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...FTOKEN=94730047 And another 1000 watt subwoofer amp!!! Will post pics when they are complete. Brian

How much power, what box? My (4) 15's are much louder for music than a pair of 18's were - same brand/model of woofer, almost the same box, and same amount of power. On the meter, the (4) 15's are .3 dB louder than the pair of 18's were. 18's peaked around 45 Hz, 15's peak around 36 Hz is the main reason they sound louder with most music. . . Brian

Building another set of cabinets the exact same size as these. Going to fill them up with 12" woofers to get more kick in the 40-100 Hz range. Thinking about these, unless someone has another suggestion at the same price. . . http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=295-490

That is why I am running my 40.1's at 0.35 DCR. With rise, they are up near 1 ohm. . .Have not had any problems so far.
-
I have (2) batteries up front, (7) in the rear, and a 250 amp alt. No problems running 14,000+ watts.

The Fi team is at SBN. You can email Scott or Nick and ask for a shipped price on a MT recone. include the coil configuration you want and your shipping zip code and he should give you a price. you can then paypal with the info in the comments section when you send the paypal funds.

x2, but I use rope caulk to seal it up.

Just over listening to them again last night. With Skip's front door open, you can hear these things nice and clear a half a mile away!!! They are so loud that he wants more subwoofer now. Have not decided what yet. . .Maybe another IXL18 or (4) MJ 18's. We even talked about two more towers with (8) 12's in each one. . .
-
Just thought I would start a thread. . . So the wall looks like this again: But will very soon have AA subs :D :D :D :D I need bass. . . The 10" panasonic sub in my Isuzu truck just is not enough!!!
-
The Atlas was a great sub, but the Avalanche was the real winner for AA. Awesome sub that was very comparable to the 05 RE XXX. I still run (4) Avalanche 15's in my HT. They are incredible subs. . . Brian

This is a crappy video, but here are the mayhems and a little bit of flex on the suburban. . . Made this video in my driveway (had camera in hand), so it was quick and furious before someone got mad. http://s183.photobucket.com/albums/x24/bko...nt=MVI_1128.flv Brian
