Just had this conversation with someone that should have known better last week. I think the confusion comes in when the user buys a 2000 watt amp for a sub rated 2500 watts. He clips the crap out of the amp and has now blown past the thermal limitations of the driver and melts the coil. clams underpowering it killed it. But even then, "clipping" did not kill the driver, passing the thermal limits did. If he would have clipped a 800 watt amplifier on the 2500 watt driver, he would have more than likely killed the amp while the driver survived. I could see clipping reducing the driver's thermal rating if you could find a way to clip it hard enough to effect the cooling due to reduced airflow around the coil. . . Should be a nice sub setup. I love BTL's. . .awesome daily sub. I agree with the full cooling. Little more money, but really keeps the sub running cooler. Brian

157.7 @ 36 Hz with (4) BTL 15's on 16,000 watts. 155+ street beat 4 with the same setup.

HK12X2 to a 15" driver will be $127 + shipping. You can buy the kit and recone it yourself, or Scott will recone it for you and not charge labor. So, the only difference in price would be the shipping of the parts, vs. shipping the complete sub. If you want to recone it yourself, need the following: Your zip code (for a final price with shipping) top plate thickness top plate gap inner diameter pole outer diameter Need to get some calipers and get good measurements. I will fix up the exterior this winter. It is actually pretty clean - just needs a new passenger door ($70) and a paint job. Right now I am just trying to get the rear bags on, electrical system done, subs and amps in. Would like to compete at least once this year just to see what it can do. . . Brian

Save the cap money and buy another battery and an upgrade alternator. If you truely run 3000+ watts RMS, you will need more than a factory electrical.

As it sits, it is 28.4 ft^3 NET airspace after port and driver displacement. Going to fill the corners to bring it down around 24 ft^3 tuned to 34 Hz with 386 sqin of port area. How they are packaged depends on the model. . . The heavier subs are in a wooden "crate".

.75 and 1.5 is the DC resistance, not the impedance. They are dual 1 and dual 2. Brian

Ohm the coils. May have just broke a tinsel lead, since no scratching sound. Normally the coil can survive unless you actually saw smoke. . .

I gained a little over 1.5 dB dropping mine from 1 ohm to 0.5 Brian
