You only have 2.6 ft^3 gross volume using 1/2" MDF. The absolute least size port I would do (and it is small) is 14" x 2". That will be 30" long for 33 Hz and will take up .6 ft^3. Factor in driver displacement, and you are just under 1 ft^3 tuned to 33 Hz with 14 sqin of port area per driver .

I think it is ok now. . .will find out when I have subs again!!!!

AA Chaos?

If you have a good EQ setup, the mayhem could work. I ran BP 1803's for a short time. With EQ, they sounded really good. The Maelstrom-X is a nice driver, but it will not handle that kind of power. You can contat Dale @ 250-426-5734 for a price quote on the Mayhem in Canada. Brian

Different subs have different t/s parameters. Different subs are made for different applications. A sub with an Fs of 30-35 Hz more than likely is not going to make a great HT sub, but it can perform great in a car with the low end cabin gain. The Havoc was designed as a good sounding daily sub that will get really loud. For me, it would not be my first choice for a HT sub, although it is going to be better than the Mayhem and will meet the HT needs of 95% of the people out there. The Mayhem was introduced to give AA a SPL/daily driver SPL sub. It can sound good in the correct enclosure. The problem is that it is designed for a vehicle. Without cabin gain or some type of EQ, it is going to roll off quickly in the deep low end where you really need it for good HT. SPL vs. SQ. . .I sub like the Mayhem with 5 stiff spiders, high BL force, and built to take 3000-4000 watts can sound good, but is not going to sound like the old AA Avalanche when it comes to SQ. . .

Can make a big difference in daily setup if you are trying to get the lowest impedance you can for maximum amplifier output. I run my 40.1's at 0.5 ohms nominal for daily. With the subs in a larger box, the amps go into protect. In a smaller box, they do not. . .

So today was the day from . . . I took the van to a friend's house who is making some changes to the pulley system on the front of the motor, because I cannot get the belt to stop slipping on the alt pulley. Here is how things have gone, starting yesterday morning: Neighbor calls and wants to borrow my trailer. I say yes, but I need it back Sunday morning. I let him know it has a slow leak and will need air in the driver's side rear tire. He brings it back this morning. I asked him if the tire was aired up, because I am going to load the van. . .He say "yes, checked it this morning and it is good". Now stupid me for assuming, but I think this means he checked the pressure with a gauge and it is good. Nope - that was a visual "I checked it". I loaded the van on the trailer and learned it only had 18 psi in that tire now that I can see it almost flat with the load on it. Tried to pull it up next to my shop to add air, but did not make it. Tire popped of the wheel. I am not happy now. Get the spare, put it on, check the pressure - all is good. Until I am out on the freeway 20 miles from home and start to hear a funny noise. Pull over to see what it is. Stupid me again, this time I pulled a real boner. Already running late trying in a hurry to change the tire, I did not tighten the lug nuts after I dropped the jack. This is no joke - 5 of the 6 nuts were gone, and I turned the last remaining nut less than 3 turns for it to come off in my hand!!!! Almost a total disaster!!! I took one nut off each of the other 3 wheels, managed to get them on the totally screwed up studs (the spare wheel is also ruined) and made my way SLOWLY the last 6 miles to my friends house. What a day. On a good note, I hope by Tuesday my belt slippage is fixed!!!!

28mm is with. I think I remember Scott saying 16mm without. If it is for daily, I would definitely get it.

They carry different subs. People try to relate them, but there are differences in each of the drivers that people try to relate. One better than the other? They are both very high quality drivers. If you mean does one perform better than the other. . .they perform different. You could ask that question about drivers within each brand - Does a Q perform better than BL, or does a Havoc perform better than a Chaos? Depends on your application and goals. Brian -
That looks like an original kit. Your best bet is getting one of those. Brian

Are you in pittsboro, indiana? Is your zip code 46167? I will send you a PM with your options and pricing. ELW - extreme lead wire.

Hey in your recone video, it looks like one of the leads is really tight. Can't tell if that is one you soldered, or one hanging there that you do not have a terminal for. edit - Nevermind - I watched again - looks like it is just laying flat and at some angles just looks tight. Also, be careful - no dust cap and pole vent covered means you are not pushing air through the gap. thermal power handling will decrease. . . Brian

What size is it? Looks like they have a 2" voice coil, but I bet you would have to send it in. Those are so inexpensive, it might not be worth it. . . PM me the exact model and you zip code. I'll ask about it. Brian

Shipped fast. I received mine yesterday. Nice driver. Building a dual 12" HT sub with a 500 watt plate amp. Should have picked up 8 of them and built two mini towers with 4 in each and used a 1000 watt plate amp. Too late now, everything else will be here today!

Never know what might happen with someone who runs an IB sub in a box on 4X the rated power. . . Got your emails. . .nice explanation, but I stil do not think it is going to help the sub perform any better.

Dude. . .now that is funny!!!
