Did you not like the midbass of the poly? If you ran the cabon fiber from 65 to 200 Hz, I think it would be awesome for midbass. Brian

I liked sub and port rear in my SUV. Others will disagree. . . You have enough room. 100-120 sqin of port area is enough. Example: 20" x 5" port x 19" long gives you 35 Hz tuning and 7.4 cuft net.

Show turned out small, but was fun.

You have got to be kidding. . .

Fun SPL event and get together. . .
BKOLFO4 posted a topic in Competitions & Other Organized SPL/SQ Events
Couple of friends, Joey and Moose, are putting on a SPL event North of Dallas/Denton in Lindsay, TX. It will be a simple format of legal SPL with 3 classes divided by your amps 4 ohm power ratings. It would be nice to get a good crowd there to meet a few new people and have a good time. I hope to have the van there (not to compete, just for demos. I will be running the TL). No SMD subs yet, but I should have something in there If you have any questions, call or text one of the numbers below. Brian -
Scott said he will check on this and send you over the tracking number when he gets back in the office. Brian

I would go with the pair of 12's.

Ohms is a measure of resistance. Need to match the sub and amp. If you bought the 2 ohm version of the BL, you will wire the coils in parallel making a 1 ohm load. Find an amp that makes max power at 1 ohm, not 2. There is a section titled BASIC ELECTRICAL here you need to read: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm Or read about ohms and many other topics here: http://www.bcae1.com/ Brian

Nope. Small show north of Denton/Dallas.

Ready to go. Going to have to bring the van on the trialer, since my 2 boys will be with me. Not going to let them ride in the van with not enough seats and seat belts.

Mine thinks it is a stupid waste of time and wants to know when I will grow up. . .

These subs are just to hold me over until SMD subs. Scott said they shoudd take 2000-2200 watts, but I will test that I did not have any foam tape, so I tried to use the rubber gaskets for now. They all fit but the center one. . .

Nope. . .I don't think this sub has a name.

UPS dropped off 6 of these this week to hold me over until the SMD subs are here. . . They sound awesome. Should have more pics and videos soon. . . Brian

2.5 cuft is not enough airspace for (2) 12's. . .
-
Hmmm. . . . My vote is for a single BTL 12 if you only have that much air space. I am not sure if Nick caught that you only have 2.5 cuft of airspace total. . . You playing music at all, or just burping?
-
Is that 2.5 cuft per sub, or total?

Baffle step assumes the speaker is in "free space". If a high-end speaker has baffle step compensation in the crossover design, it normally needs to be placed away from the wall to take advantage of it. Just offsetting the tweeter can smooth the response quite a bit. http://sound.westhost.com/bafflestep.htm http://www.trueaudio.com/st_diff1.htm I know my speakers also have much better imaging when away from the wall. . . Brian

I doubt it makes a difference. I say that for 3 reasons: I am not sure how much measuring Chad did as far as adjusting those crossovers for baffle step correction. You are changing the original tweeter anyway. I would guess you do not plan on placing them 4 ft from the wall behind them. Go for it.

I like AA, never have run a SSA or DC product, but from what I do know about the two, I voted Xcon. Don't let the term SQ fool you - I bet these subs will get LOUD! Maybe I should try 6 of them in my wall and just see how they do. . . Brian

Sounds like a nice setup. . .

I like it.
