ofc and cca wire
MikeMartel replied to dragon123443's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
To be honest iv seen many many high end installs done with CCA.. Amperage rating is only 50 amps different between CCA and OFC. I know that Sky High Audio's Truck uses all CCA for sure, along with many other big ground pounder builds. -
If the amp is going into protect it will either be a voltage problem, or possibly the subwoofers are blown/shorting out.
-
How's the order going Quentin, hopefully good news.

Nice looking box.

Dont worry about buying 2 sets of speakers, Ditch the rear speakers and spend more money on your front set.

A little build we are doing at the shop, decided to take some pictures so here it goes. JL Clean sweep Two sets of JL C5 6.5" Coaxial Speakers JL HD 600/4 JL HD 1200/1 Two 10" JL W6v3 Here are a couple pictures of how the doors are looking, (I know about the deadner, We dont need that much but the customer already bought it before hand, and wanted me to use it all. Apart from that, any input is welcome, being an installer Im always looking to improve my work. Baffles are made from 1/2" mdf. More photos to come within the next few days.

Not my fault man! Would have been doing things differently if I ran the shop.. Boss rules over me though. I guess Ill start to install cross overs in the kick panels / B pillars, that sort of thing. Biggest pain in the ass with these vehicles are the connectors in in the door grommets, makes wires a lot harder to run.
-
Ill read the manual tomorrow.. lol. Iv always installed xovers in the door just for ease and how much quicker it is, but if its not suggested then I guess I should change my gameplan.

Thanks . Gotta have this baby done by the end of saturday.. Still lots of work to do

Going to be making my own port flares.. My dad works at a machine shop and has access to a lathe with will make things easier. He's gonna make me a mold so I can just fibreglass over it to make my flares. Now, I was hoping I could get some help with dimensions of the flare, it's going to be a 10" port, and I need to know what diameter to flare out to, and how deep to make the flare. Iv heard add 4" to the diameter but that could be total BS, but iv got no clue as far as how deep the flare should be.

When that knowledge allows people to compete with his own product or makes his product obsolete....then no, that typically isn't shared. I understand this now, As Iv said 2 times before, Sorry. Hate causing problems and making myself look like a dick.
-
Apologies to you Adrian, didn't mean to cause any problems.
-
No.. I don't want to sell them myself. I enjoy making things myself. I don't see the problem with this. I understand he put time and effort into it, some people don't mind sharing their knowledge with other people. It's fine, I'll do my more research and figure it out myself.
-
No, I did ask him directly. Didn't think it would be an issue.. Just had some difficultly finding good specifications online. I know Adrian makes great flares so I asked. Didn't know flares were all secretive. Sorry

Finally finished that damn install on the AGM S65... Was a bitch
-
Now how deep should a flare be?
-
It's not going to be a full 2 piece mold obviously . basically just going to be a 'plug' that I'll slide the port over, then fibreglass for the perfect flare everytime
-
Not too sure what to think of these... 100ah batteries for 160 bucks? I'm assuming that build quality isn't there compared to other high end battery makers, would they even be worth using? I'll probably be needing some backup electrical sometime soon and don't have a ton of money.

Powerware Batteries?

Yeah. I saw blemished knew going for about 80 bucks.. That's crazy inexpensive. And too be honest. If I were to get 3 group 31's and a group 34 upfront. I'm hoping that it would be more than enough to run my single crescendo 3500 at .5 -
Overall Im pretty impressed. Im gonna be needing to adding a battery bank, flares, and sealing it off from the trunk. All should add a few points to my score.
