Hifonics, Hfi or Brutus series?
MikeMartel posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm thinking about buying a Fi Btl N2 and I was looking at amps and it seems like hifonics is a good brand from what I have seen and read. I was just wondering wether I should get the brutus or the hfi series. I need to run around 2000 watts. Both the Hfi and Brutus amps are class D and say they are used for subs. So I was just curious on what your opinions are. -

Well. I have been trying my own research but I'm having trouble finding something I like, if you want to just give me a list if a few good amp companies that would be helpful. I just know I can get a really good price on hifonics. -
Ok, so iv decided with my price budget that it would be best to get one 18" Fi BTL. The only problem with that is I have a 2004 Impala, and the recommended box cutout is a little too big. It says the height should be 22.5" but i only have room for around 19" max. Would those couple of inches really be that big of a deal? or do you have other suggestions on how i should build my box? I have plenty of room for Width and Depth, its only the height that seems to be an issue.
-
It is a little confusing, are you basically saying i need to put a few wooden braces going from top to bottom to make sure twisting in the box doesnt occur? or is the structure a bit more advanced than that?
-
About those bracing tips . Haha. I'll need em

Well, ill need to check that out, my opening size should be big enough for me to slide it in length ways then just turn it once its inside. But thanks a lot, this is a lot of help and i would have ended up screwing it up if i tried to get these dimensions myself.
-
Its a huge trunk ^^ Just to ball park it i have atleast 45" wide and PLENTY of depth, so you have alot of room to work with, thanks man.
-
Can anyone anwser MY questions please? Im the op and it would be nice :S
-
Alright, now i dont want to seem like i want everyone else to do my work for me, Iv just never built a box before... iv been trying to read up on how to measure the inside volume and the port ect. But I really dont understand it :S.. Now refering back to the suggested cut out sheet by Fi, i can keep all the dimensions the same except for the 22" height, the max i can make it is about 19". With that in mind how would i be able to change the box so i can keep it at the 7.00 cubic feet.. Sorry again, i dont want to seem lazy i just really cant wrap my head around it right now.
-
Oh my, it seems we arent even talking about my setup anymore ^^ haha
-
Alright well to the people who say i should get a 15 instead of an 18, the box will only have to be 3" shorter, im sure i can make up that volume by increase the depth, it really wont be that hard... its a full size trunk, i can fit atleast 2 dead bodies
-
Why would you get a warning
-
Well. First off I will be facing the sub outward. And my seats don't fold down. But I think I'll make a port where my middle back seat is. I'll figure out something to make It work
-
I can make room . Just gotta wait for some extra cash
-
Yeah, ill do my best ^^ Was previously thinking i should get two 12's but with the price of the extra sub, and amp, it wasnt worth it. Plus the 18" has more cone area
-
Alright, sounds good. Thats what i was thinking about doing i just dont have any experience with building my own box and iv heard its basically the most important part so i didnt want to screw it up.
-
Alright, right now im running two Alpine X 10" and i guess there pretty loud and have great sound quality for what iv heard, but iv never been able to find the actual SPL rating on them so i cant really compare them to anything else i want to buy. Basically, iv been thinking about buying new subs for a while now but im not too sure which ones to get. I still want SQ but i want to be a bit louder ^^. Im just looking for any input really, im quite new to this stuff and havent heard many other systems other than my friends 2 W7's. Any suggestions are welcome -Thanks Mike.

Ok so, now all i really need is my amps. I have heard a lot of amazing things about rockford fosgate thats kind of why i wanted to get them, but if i have to build the box around the ssf of the amp im not really sure if i would be able to do that because i dont really have the knowledge. Ill be the first to admit it, i know nothing about good amp companies so ill start doing some research, but if a few of you could point me in the right direction that would be cool.
