Got some new rims and tires. *Pics

Love the look of black rims on black cars/trucks. Very clean. -
Alright, well i told a friend that i would help him out with getting some subs in his car. He really isnt into getting loud, he just wants a little extra. So i told him like a smaller sized sub, like an 8" or 10" would be good. He doesnt want to spend too much on this setup so i was wondering if you guys could help me out with some subwoofers that might be a good choice. Probably close to around $200. Ill buy used if i need to, just need some help on what some good options would be.

Thank you guys. Lots of help.
-
yeah but once you get into front stage and all this hes gonna end up spending more money then he wants to. Ill ask him, but i think the Dcon will work.

Any ideas of an amp while we are here? Dont want to sound lazy like i dont want to do research, im just not very familiar with all the good brands yet, and i know theres a lot of false info and crap on the internet, i can trust you guys though.

Dcons might be a good choice ^^

Hes just going to have a small sealed box. Its in a VW TDi. Power doesnt really matter. Ill match the amp to the subwoofer, but probably around 300-500 watts? Nothing huge.

Update: They have started to cut in and out again, im trying to figure out what Alton said about bending back the female RCA connector? But im not really sure how im gonna go about doing that, do i go in from the back? or the front? I dont want to mess this up. lol -

Alright, so i own a PG Ti. 500.4 and my speakers will randomly seem to cut in and out. All of a sudden only 1 speaker in my car will be working, and at other times all 4 will work. Now i went back and checked my amp, it seems that the aux inputs are the problem. When i wiggle them around a bit, unplug them and plug them back in they all work. They will work for like a week and then start cutting out again. I actually ended up taking the cover off and looking at the solder points on the amp where the inputs are and they seem to be fine. Should i just like... tape the wires in place so that they dont move? Idk what else to do. -
Alright, so the reason why i didnt put this in the for sale section is because im just seeing how much interested it would actually get, i have a second one laying around but i dont want to part with it if im not getting the right price i guess. So either send me a PM or post on the thread and if anyone is really interested in buying this amp then we might make a deal.

Ok, so iv rewired my RCA's for the first time (fun stuff) and it has seemed to fix the problem.. Ill only truly know if it fixed it once i go driving back and forth from college for a couple of days. If it hasn't worked.... Then ill try to bend the RCA inputs on the amp like Alton suggested. If it keeps doing it... looks like its time to fix my amp.. I really dont want to replace it at the moment because of my funds, and iv heard very good things about it. So i might as well try and fix it. -
Sounds Great so far, ill check out CA&E and Voicecoil.

I was wondering if there are any car audio magazines that are actually worth while? I picked up a pasmag today at Chapter to take a look at it.. it seemed alright? Just seems like more tits than audio..
-
lmao, nice jon

But theres not enough audio it seems like half the pages are wasted... Ill subscribe to playboy if i want tits

After talking to a few people with different opinions, i wanted to see as a whole where people stand on this topic. This will be my first real build and i really want it to be the best it can be. Ill be running an Fi BTL N2 18 and i wanted to know which option will suit this build better.
-
Its a 2004 Impala. And idk, i just want it to sound good. I think ill be firing it backwards, because it will be a LOT easier for my first build.
-
No.. money is really really tight so basically only have the time and money for one box.
-
Ok... so iv just tried to calculate the internal volume of my box again. And... the numbers seem all messed up. Im getting a volume of like... 9 cubic feet? Idk.... Can somebody check my work and see if i did it right or wrong... Because id like to keep the size aero ports that Audibel suggested. If i did mess up could somebody post correct dimensions to get 7 cubic feet internal volume. Keep in mind the ports will be probably about 4 - 5 inches out of the box so only about 10-11 inches of port will be inside, per aero.
-
Well, i didnt think this was going to end up happening but i actually saw an Fi BTL N2 18" For $400 in my city. I was previously going to get a 15" Fi Q or BL which was going to cost me $400 shipped anyways so i cant give up this opportunity. Now in the quest for less trunk rattle, i wanted to fire my subwoofers forward into the cabin, BUT i dont have foldable seats. OhJay gave me a good idea. Use external aeroports that go through the rear deck where the 6x9 speakers go. I thought it was a great idea, something a bit different. Now i was wondering if any of you could make it happen. Iv got probably 19 inches maximum of height, probably about 40 inches of width. I know the box will be a bit smaller than a regular or considering the aero ports so hopefully that helps out with it fitting.

Alright, so since i have nothing but time on my hands i was looking around at the IASCA rule book, and im considering i might be competing after my nice long Canadian winter. Id be in the Rookie 2 section. (Single Fi BTL 18 N2). Now, i saw a rule that all subwoofer enclosures / ports need to be in the cargo area. My original plan was to have my two 6" Aero ports going through the 6x9 slots in my rear deck. So heres my solution. Since aero ports are lovely and are able to be removed, i was thinking of making much shorter, like 5" in length aero ports for competitions. Giving me like a 45 hz tune or something. Geez thinking about competitions when i havent even installed it for daily yet.
