So, iv finally got my subwoofer enclosure finished, and set up in my trunk. After listening to it for a while it was surprisingly accurate, id say even more accurate than my Type X's which are actually supposed to be SQ drivers. Overall super impressed, and obviously it gets nice and loud.

Iv got lots of pictures on my build log. I only have an iPhone though so videos wont be very clean.. At all... lol

It does feel great, and its a nice amp for sure.

Alright, everything is in, and its leaking on the 'port side' outer wall, its at the back and was almost impossible to get screws into. I tried gluing it the best i could but theres a section in the center of it thats leaking. Because its in the port side im pretty lucky, later today ill use some silicone and put a bead on both the inside and outside seam and then hopefully everything will be ok. (Leaking side, put some wood glue for now, silicone later) And a few pictures of my amps. (Dont slam me for my cap i know its useless)

Ok, so iv been looking at power capabilities of wire sizes and im only running 4 gauge to the back of of my trunk. Now according to 12volt, with the length of the wire it will only be able to take around 600 watts rms of power. Would running my amplifier at 1 ohm, 1500 wrms, stress/overheat the wire? If this is true, maybe ill just run my amp at 4 ohms, (375 wrms) until i can run some 0 or 2 gauge wire once i buy it.

Fi BTL on Low Power
MikeMartel replied to MikeMartel's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Iv got a 150 amp on the 4 gauge wire. If im good then thats great -
Yep, i make sure i predrill all my holes. Im not risking splitting any more wood..

Looking very nice.. Impressed so far.

Hehe, its a stunt let me tell you. Ill post step by step pictures of how i need to do it. Because theres so little clearance ill be using a ratchet with a star screwdriver attachment to crank down all the screws. BTW, does anyone have suggestions as to what screws i should use to actually mount the subwoofer with?

Hopefully it will be loud. Thanks guys.

Building it in the basement, OK so, here is what iv decided to do, because it wont fit, and because i butchered that one baffle pretty bad this is what i did. I kind of flush mounted a bottom baffle for extra support, and will be screwing the top baffle to that. Heres what it looks like. (I know i know i messed up that cut bad, thats why its on the bottom ) My box doesnt fit with the top on so its not secured yet.. Im going to have to slide my box into my trunk first, then glue and screw down the top baffle and sub while its in my trunk with like 2" clearance..... awesome Also, got my gains set properly using my multimeter and a 45hz test tone. What do you think . Not bad for my first time.

Ok... So my box wont fit with the double baffle.. Its too high. I think what ill do, is use the router to cut the height down just around where the sub needs to be mouted, that way i can still basically have a double baffle, with the same height as a single.

Thanks Shogen, its coming along very well.

Here is what i got done last night.. Ill be putting up more pictures up on sunday, or maybe even tomorrow night when its done!

Test tracks for a new sub install
MikeMartel replied to TravisHardiman's topic in Computers / Electronics / Music / Games
Tech N9ne - Demons. ^^ Not really a test track, but its a killer beat. -
Feeling a bit better about it today, yesterday i was a little nervous because it was my first time but im getting the hang of it. Had a little bit of a scare because i split the wood with my first screw I used a bit of a bigger drill bit for my pilot hole and that fixed the problem. Hopefully pictures later tonight.

Alright, got some pictures. Heres my Fi BTL N2 18", the AB 100.1 and what done of my box so far. Hopefully get a bit more done later tonight

jr711 stop being a dick. Honestly.

Yes im sure i cant fold my seats down, iv already thought about firing through aero ports through the rear deck, but i dont really have the most knowledge and such quite yet. Ill keep it simple with my first box. I might switch it up later on. We will see.

Alright... so with the dimensions i am using for my 18" BTL, it will give very limited space for air to move around the box. I was going to fire it into the trunk, BUT it will give little air space to move around the box to get back into the cabin. Will this be a major problem? If so ill need to rethink the build.
