Need a alternator for 01 impala 3800
DC Power Rob replied to anthonyvo17's topic in DC Power Engineering
You are right, running a bigger alternator than you need now definitely wont hurt you. Alternators are supply and demand type devices, they only charge what you need them to charge and no more.. We have a 230 amp alternator for these that runs $398, but I would really recommend running our 270SP because its going to give you room to upgrade, and you cant beat having 180 amps at idle.. This is a case where we've come up with a way to run some BIG alternators where our competition is still selling alternators built off of the stock CS130D's.. This is one I did in an '01 Monte with a 3.8... This is pretty much the same setup we run for all late model GM V6 FWD cars.. Rob -
Hm, H.O. Alt for 2000 Pontiac Grand AM?
DC Power Rob replied to silenkiller's topic in DC Power Engineering
We definitely do have them, we just havent gotten them up on the website yet. We run the same alternators in these as we do in the fullsize GM trucks/SUV's so we can do pretty much anything you want. How much output are you looking to get, and how big is your system? Let me know, Rob -
DC Power Dual Kit WITH 190 amp alternator special for $489!
DC Power Rob replied to DC Power Kyle's topic in DC Power Engineering
We also just got in a bunch of 250SP windings and can do the same kit with the 250SP for $589... The 250SP will do 170+ at idle all day long, and is hands down the best 250 amp alt on the market.. Just thought I'd throw this out there... -
You should have an adapter harness that plugs into your stock harness so you dont have to splice wires, and the blue wire should have a ring terminal that is looped over to the stud on the back of the alternator (which is the main positive output post) The alternator is case grounded so as long as you do the big three it should be the same as changing your stock alternator. If you need some additional help tomorrow, just call me at the shop and I'll help you out.. Rob

High Output Alternator For BMW
DC Power Rob replied to A.SMALL's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Depending on how much power your looking for we can do anything between 230 and 300. These are some of our biggest and best alternators we build and definitely better than the 120 amp stock alt.. Pleas let me know if there is anything we can do for you.. Rob -
Why DC Power Engineering vs the competition
DC Power Rob replied to DC Power Kyle's topic in DC Power Engineering
Now that we have more frames in stock, if you want to send your primary in over the winter I'll slap a black anodized frame on it for you so you have a matching pair.. The raw billet looks great, but I personally like the anodized better.. Our stickers are en route now so I am told so I can get those out to you asap.. Rob -
SSA Welcomes DC Power Engineering!

As Kyle said we dont offer a kit for this engine, but the alternators we do offer for these will just about do the work of 2 other alternators you may not really need duals. I have one customer running one 270XP on 15K watts and 6 batts in that same car and he absolutely loves it.. Sometimes you really dont need as much alternator as you think you do, you just need the *right* alternator.. Rob

On some alternators, yes, your going to make a trade-off, but not always.. On alternators like Ford 3G/4G/6G alternators, and just about everything stock on imports your going to give up big-time idle output to get high output. On our flagship alternators like the SP and XP series though your not going to give up anything at idle to get the top end, you're going to gain all the way around. Just to clarify, the 320HP will give you about 100 at idle minimum, and the 180HP will give you 130 amps or so at idle..

The billet frames for the small case HP's and the large case XP's should be done this week, if they aren't done already. I've been out of town for about 3 weeks and they just *may* be done.. We'll be able to build you just about anything you need from 180-320 amps depending on what you need. On smaller systems the 180 will be plenty because of their great idle output (Kyle ran one on his SAZ3500D until we put his 270XP in), the big XP's may be a bit much on the 4 cyl motors and we'll probably end up really underdriving them with big pulleys to get the output down to manageable levels and for better belt wrap on the 5G belts. I'll be sure to get pics up as soon as they're available. If there's anything else you need, just let Kyle or I know and we'll get you taken care of. Rob
