LOC question
tez4life replied to JazzScreamer's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Thanks for the reply. I don't remember which particular LOC it was. I do know that it is for a FORD though. The install is for an 07' Ford Edge. I will talk to my friend later this week and see when she can go the linedriver route. I emailed ZED awhile ago and hoping to get a reply from Steve on this issue. I hope this fixes things. Sure man, no problem. I hate it when its something small keeping ya enjoying your sounds. Hope you get it fix soon! -
LOC question
tez4life replied to JazzScreamer's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
This sounds like a similar problem I had in my 04 Ford Crown Vic. I had a decent stock HU and steering wheel controls that I wanted to retain. I picked up a SCOSCHE LOC and wired it up behind my HU and ran a set of RCAs to my amp in the rear (MTX 342). The LOC had outputs for 2 sets of RCAs but I only used one set. I had to turn the gain on the Mtx almost all the way up to get any decent output out of my mids and high as well as crank the HU almost all the way up. The amps tended to overheat because the gains were so high, but it was the only way to get any real sound from it. Those MTX Thunder series amp tended to like a higher voltage signal through the RCAs (4 volts or more) and my LOC could only supply 2 volts max. I purchased a Audiocontrol Four1 EQ/linedriver and completly solved my problem. The higher signal from the Audiocontrol was exactly what the Mtx wanted and the system sounded so much stronger and clearer. Never had a overheating issue from it again either. A linedriver may solve your output issue, but that still leaves your noise problem. Im sure you have checked all you gains already, but what LOC from Stinger did you use? Not every LOC can be used with every car, some cars stock systems can conflict or even not work unless you have the correct one for that car. Whats all this installed in? -
It going in my 04 Ford Crown Vic. The car has a crappy stock speaker location high in the door, which has plenty of room, but that spot has poor left/right balance and has a bias depending on what side your on. I would like to mount them lower on the door, or even kicks, but the spot where the stock speaker was would be perfect for that large format tweeter you mention. As far as a preference, not really. Ive always enjoyed the smoothness of fabric type tweeters (silk, etc...) but I also enjoy the bite of a nice metal tweeter. I have a Audiocontrol Four1 for minor EQing if need be. Would the Dayton that you used as a example be a good pick?

Would a Vifa work? Im just lost right now.

Sorry should have specified, the onboard of the Sundown.
-
That shouldnt be a problem, its going to be flush mounted in the top of my doors, and their is alot of area up there. Im trying to find something that will blend well with the MLI 65, money is limited but I perfer to and will invest in quality products.

very nice, should power those Germs nicely -
x2, clean up the install a lil bit and you got a winner there. Output looks insane in that small car, whats the size of the box and the tune? Just curious. Very nice job, BTW!!!

Finally came over from the dark side......

That sounds very promising, cant really go wrong with the Mags from what ive heard period. -
Thats should be insane, looking foward to that!!
-
Amazing, thats quite an enclosure! Good job is a understatement!
-
Nice, very clean bet it sounds good!
-
Like i said before, that should be nice B)! Makes me interested in the HDc3 even more, but looking at the budget, its prob goin to be the 18 Havocs. Not to mention my good previous experence with them. Plus, who can say that they have a pair of 18s in there trunk, lol?
-
Cool, great amps I love mine, just tired of it sitting here trying to decided what to push with it lol. That Havoc 18 still killing the lows in the Mazda?
-
Wow, thats a really nice build and finished project. Thats a lot of movement for just around 1k per sub, I cant imagine when you get full power to them, nice job!!!

X2, I know that the MINI doesnt have a lot of space, but I dont see the point in install a wall unless your going with some serious audio back there. Why not a pair of really good 10s or 12s? Maybe another MT 12 to go with what you got? I feel what you want to do, but me personally, its a nice car but I would not do a wall in it. I got a 04 Crown Victoria with about 11 cubic feet of free trunk space in the center, but the only way I would do a wall in my car is if I was going to do 4 15s or 8 12s sealed or ported, just something crazy loud for a weekend/daily car.

I should hope so, im planning on running 3000 RMS when I purchase mine lol, but honestly there RMS is 1250 a peice, so a true 1000 should be fine.
-
Already done sort of, I only ran front stage in the last install, when I notice removing the rear speakers increased my output in the car. I also have a huge hole already in my rear deck between the rear speakers. I also thought about removing the ski hole cover where the rear armrest is in the back seat and replacing it with acoustic transparent cloth. I have never done a build log, but I have an idea how im going to lay out this system and I promise to take plenty of pics and give a detail review (well as best as I can lol, im def no expert).

Thanks devil driver, i didnt get a chance to thank you for the advice on the other thread. Your review was interesting and made my choice in subs difficult at best lol. Its just its so many good companies on this forum alone that it makes it hard to decide who to shell out the money too. In my mind, im thinking that (2) 15s ported will do it for me, but I have never ran 18s period and my previous setup (4 AA assassin 12s sealed of a Orion 1200d) had great output and very nice SQ, just didnt drop low enough for me. The Havoc 18s will fit the bill sealed and leave me with plenty of room for amps and batteries. Not to mention, giving me that low end I have been looking for!

Thats a really nice setup and score. Def looks very loud. Funny thing is I have those almost exact same dimensions in my trunk, got me thinkin.....
