So doubling power, and retaining 18" size should increase 3db. At the level i am now, 3db should be noticeable to the ear still correct? since im not even close to a "major" system

So if i get an 18" BTL, then it will be much louder? or is it still very little difference? Its just hard for me to understand how an 18btl can be muchhh louder than a 12btl with the same rms/peak rating while my 18 ssd with a low rating can be greater than a 12btl.. But then if reconed to 18btl or just purchasing an 18btl would be a big upgrade.. lol

So even though my sub is est. 800-1000rms and the btl is rated @ 2000rms, mine will still sound much louder due to massive cone area?

Now that I dont have to worry about voltage, I have been crankin it about as loud as I can without it clipping, which is like 35/50 on the h/u and I did it for a good 20mins with my knob all the way up on the amp, but then noticed my sub felt a little warm on the cone.. So I guess i wont do it quite that loud cuz my sub cant handle it lol.. lame, but I can still do it WAY LOUDER than I could before lol.. But yeah I sat at church this morning after service with it full blast for about 10-15 mins and it was just idle, no revin the engine or anything and it NEVER went below 13.2v EVER !! This is so awesome. Now I can actually demo my car without draining the batteries Oh yeah and not to mention, it looks way cooler to do a demo with a Super bright DVM reading 14.4v than it was before if I tried to show kids my system and if I turned it up it would hit like 11.2v... That looks gay lol. so I never got to demo it because I never wanted my amps to see anything below 12s so Im excited that I can actually do demo's now for everyone that has never heard/seen an 18 before.

Yeah, you cant really see it, but ill try to shove my camera down a little bit to see if I can get a pic or 2 of it installed. I just want it to be morning so i can go out and listen to my system with it some more!!

I only got to play with it for about 10 mins, the drive home from his house since it was so late, but it sounds cleaner and louder both. I noticed it was louder than i recalled hearing before, But if I remember correctly, the Sudown amps put out more at 14v than say the 12 I was pushin before

Time For GOOD NEWS.. I Finally got the new alt installed, My friends dad just finished putting it in about 30mins ago. Dude its so legit!! Its way too dark to take any pics of it installed so i'll try to take some tomorrow or the next day. I dont have any in-progress pics, because I wasnt there during the install of it. So before it was installed it would start at about 12.7 and while driving it would go down to 12.3 with music OFF. Then if I cranked it.. lets just say I could get low enough for the stinger voltmeter to say "Low" .. which is like less than 10.. ( only happened once.. I was testing the meter and cranked my system lol. NOW WITH THE NEW ALT.. When I start it, it runs at 14.5v and stays 14.5 while driving with music OFF. If I crank the music while drivin around the lowest it ever got was 13.2.. but normally lowest was 13.6. THIS IS SO AWESOME!! Thanks DC POWER!!!!! This thing is a beast, I mean cranking it and staying around 14v~ is SOOO awesome and now I never have to worry about turning it down because It wouldnt even go below 13.2v

We tried to tint my rear window and it wouldnt stay without bubbles, because my rear hatch window is a lot more curved on all the edges and the tint is hard to get to fit perfectly at all the edges. So.. i just put up a retarded looking curtain. I guess I could pay like 60 bucks to get it tinted but since i dont plan on keeping the car for more than about a year I havent done it. And lol, selling drugs is a little bit illegal last time I checked haha.

Sometimes wisdom hurts I guess Lol. I Just hope my civic holds out til I have enough because I don't want to have to buy a car just because this one dies.. Please little civic get me over 200k miles. Im at 173k miles atm and I hope it can last about 2 more years. I just wanted to get all my audio stuff finished in the civic so that I can have fun in it while I save for the new car. BTW I plan on putting some 2 - 4 SA-8s in the Z even though the weight will slow her down a tad.. it'll be worth it

Still haven't got the alt installed.. But as soon as I do, that is the end of this build. I am going to start saving for my next big thing after the alt is put in. Now that i'll have my 18" ssd, box, 2 kinetik batts, and a dc alt in i will finally be able to enjoy my daily drives and means I am finally, FINALLY ready to save for my next car. I just hope my little civic lasts me long enough til I get it. My savings atm = $50... yes Fifty dollars.. But as of now I am saving for my dream car ( well my realistic dream car.. one that is actually hopefully possible to attain ) The Nissan 350z Idc what anyone posts, This has been the car I have wanted for the last.. well as soon as I started learning about cars, this was the first and only car I have ever wanted. So.. Since they cost SO much I will be holding off on ALL upgrades to save like a madman for the 350z!!! I'll most likely get a used one between 9-13k because that's all I will be able to afford in 1-2yrs of saving.. I hope I can get her that quick omg I want her SOOOO bad! Anyone else poor and have tips on how you got yourself a nice car?.. from cheapo to sporty in 1-2yrs?.. I need help figuring out how I am going to do this fast. I dont like car payments but I assume most of you get car payments?.. I guess if I have to get a loan.. but I want her as soon as possible with a downpayment of 1/2 or more! ..I only make $8.25 an hour usually 20-25hrs a week. Am I just supposed to work like a slave and beg for hours and try to get like 30-39hrs while doin college or what LOL Do you guys in college work your butt off to get a car you love? it seems hard to work over 25hrs while in college full time

He still hasn't replied about the bass boost on amp and or head unit.. those are useful items when an amp is shutting down.. Turn bass boost OFF if it is on..

Well it isn't a car shop, It's a sign shop/vinyl, But its only him and his dad that run the whole thing.. He makes tons of signs for all sorts of businesses ( even some for the kc royals ( Major League Baseball team.. ) ) and He did all the vinyl graphics for all the Police cars in our city which is legit, But they still have basically every tool in order to make the )signs and stuff so.. and they just know a ton about cars cuz 2 of our other friends are in school for automotive stuff atm. But it works out nice having a place to work on all of our cars ( that is where I built the box too.)

Finally it's HERE!!! PICS!!! : And yes my Friend's dad is suppose to install it for me for free, not sure when but at least it's FREE! and if he doesn't have time in the next week i'll get my other friends to help me cuz they know loads about cars and he this kid has a shop with his dad so they have every tool pretty much ever, lol.

I have 1- 18" ssd and I run a sundown 1200d at 1ohm and I crank it quite often and haven't had a problem or any smell or anything and it still hits as hard as the day I got it.

Dude if you dont want to spend much you can get an audiopipe that is 1000w for around $130, If you want a little better quality but still not breakin the bank get an AudioQue amp like the 1200w for $249.00 both have been known to work perfectly and get their rated power. Just for your info, I currently run a sundown 1200w but it is about $385 I believe. It is AMAZING but the price i almost double.. Even I in the future plan to go with AudioQue and their 2200w amp because the cost of sundown isn't "cheap" sundown is def. worth the price though!

OMG!!!! #4 Freakin rocks!! If i Had the money I'd buy 200 and hand them to everyone I see all day long LOL. MAKE THESE ASAP I will have to budget a few of these into my spending allowance next check!!

Yeah, half gain on a 1000w amp doesn't = 500w... On my sundown 1200 amp, when I use a DMM to match my H/u my gain is only around 1/4 the way up and that is matched with the h/u voltage.
