I guess noone has ever ran multiple batteries on a stock alt?.... Lol..

I just went and bought a Digital Multimeter because I will be getting a stinger voltmeter soon.. plus I just needed one, and well.. I have no idea how to use it!!! I tried my best and got a spark and some awfully hot wire thingys... ouch. First off there are 2 different red plugs and 1 black plug slots at the bottom of the dmm.. I wasn't sure how to know which red one to plug into, and obv. the black went into the only black slot. After that i went over to DCv and scrolled the wheel over to 20.. I assumed you go higher than the voltage you are going to read.. which for cars is around 12v.. Then I stuck my red probe onto my + on my amp and black onto my - on amp.. and.. spark?.. just tiny spark but scared the shizz outta me. So now here I am begging for help as this stupid DMM has nothing of instructions to help me check the voltage at my amp?.. ugh PLEASE HELP.

I wouldn't dis JL until you own them at least once, I have had 3 different JL setups and I have to say they are still some of the cleanest subs I have ever used. Tbh I want the sa8's as well but I'm just sayin dont hate unless you have given them a chance. My w7 was so sexy

aw crap, I saw one for $25 bucks that was auto ranging, but this one was on sale for $12.. I was like umm half price sounds good to me. ( plus at the time I had no idea what auto ranging meant tbh )

Ok awesome! thanks for your help. I wish instructions came with it lol.. as I am not randomly a pro the first time a touch a DMM. And there are so many numbers to select haha.. but awesome I'll test it out in the morning using the correct red slot ! and this time hope for no sparks.

I plugged mine into the left red slot.. because dc was on the left.. lol. And I set it at 20 out of the options like 2, 20, 200 and something else.. I just dont want to make *sparks* on my amp geez i almost cried, that sundown amp is my baby

Hey I have a crappy voltmeter from an autoparts store locally that my friend hooked up a year ago to who knows where in the front of the car, I think to a fuse for power just so i have an idea of my voltage.. But I am about to purchase a new stinger voltmeter as I am about to add a new Kinetik hc1400 up front and decided I want a more accurate reading of voltage for my Sundown amp. I was just wondering how you guys wire these up to get a good readout of the voltage? (I guess at the amp?.. ) I'm assuming you would want the voltage at the amp to see how much power the amp is actually getting?.. correct me if im wrong about what voltage i want to read.. so basically I was just wondering do I just run a long wire to the back of my car to the amp from the voltmeter for the reading or what?.. I thought I would ask here as almost everyone seems to use these meters. THANKS IN ADVANCE!! you can give a full explanation of wiring one up if you want as I have no idea how to wire a voltmeter, I know you can ground to basically any part of the frame of car/metal.. but thats about all for me.

aw smart, never thought about that. Installing all 3 wires in the amp itself ! genius. Thanks lol. I just wanted to make sure before I went and bought wires to run back. I didn't know if people really just ran it to their front battery or alt.. But sweet amp sounds better because I dont want her to see below 12v EVER P.S. How the crap do people sit at above 14v?.. I don't think mine is even at 13?.. Its hard to tell though since the meter I have atm is junk. But will adding a hc1400 up front increase the voltage my car sits at?.. ( stock alt, kinetik hc600 in back, and atm I have stock batt but adding the hc1400 monday up front) Just wonderin how I get the voltage higher like above 13v

I think i just wasted 20 mins reading this garbage.. The OP must have no brain because nothing he says even makes sense. And second IF he needed help he should have told us more things he wanted ex: the amount of watts he was going to be running so we could actually suggest a good sub for this scenario.

Lol my little camera takes pretty good videos for only being a tiny sony cybershot digital camera. It def. sounds WAY deeper in real life of course. The video sounds rattling and weird but in the car it sounds... LEGIT. I have made many a person plug their ears in shock and yell OW turn it down please please stop it now

Would it be better to replace my starting crap batt. with the HC 1400 ( its the one that fits ) and then just have the hc600 still in back.. or keep my starting crap batt and the hc600 and then also add the 1400 or 800 to back?.. Is is hurting it to keep the crap batt as the starting?.. I was just going to keep it and add another in the back but if its better to remove the crap and replace with a battery that works I guess

Lol, my alts alright its just my starting battery is a walmart crapo batt and then my second batt. is a small hc600. I knew i needed at least the hc800 or hc1200 but at the time I could only afford to buy a used hc600 So i did that just to run it for now. I can run it Still REALLY LOUD without any voltage problems, I just want to add a 3rd batt so that I don't have to watch my voltmeter as much ( I'm over protective about hurting my system so I like to play on the safe side ) So I basically just want to have extra battery juice to make sure my amp wont over heat as easily~ and to hopefully run closer to 14v right now it runs a little over 13v

Lol Thanks, I use to want to get into graphic design/ photography but am going to college to become a teacher instead but hey I still like taking pics for a hobby! And yeah I'll get some vids up soon, I keep trying to find a place to take a vid without getting yelled at.. everytime i think about it Someone comes outside or gets near about the time I hop out to turn on the camera.. I guess I need to drive out to the middle of no-where and just stop on a dirt road.. I am going easy on the gain as my voltage drops if I turn my amp up... I guess for christmas I should get a 3rd battery.. then I can put my amp up to its full potential and really pound the crap out of my little car. It already cries when I turn it up now. Maybe ill just get a hc1400 or 800 to add to the 2 batts I already have in there. Anyone selling a hc800 or hc1400 kinetik?.. I might buy one to throw back there.

I'm def. going to fix the hole in the box Just waiting for my friend to have free time, we have been working on it at him and his dad's shop. We are going to fix the hole and reinforce it more inside and eventually carpet or vinyl the box most likely unless i decide to get a different size woofer soon ( 12 btl ) but if i get the 18 btl ill most likely keep the box and make it look nice and pretty. But yeah gotta fix the air holes!! and ever since the cold winter temps. my box has been rattling more, i think the wood changes with temp.

sounds like I should just go with the 18 the first time and be happy because its the best I can do, and from there if i need more Ill either get a new car or take out my back seat..

Lets just say.. last night when I got off work at 10.. there were some high school kids I work with listening to their systems thinking they were cool.. I went out and popped my hatch and cranked it.. and they all got out of their cars and ran over to mine and like 3 more people i work with came over and were like holy crap.. I never expected you to have this in that little car.. and they put their heads in and were like "ow what the heck.. how do you even have it this loud.." Lol.. I guess their JL 12w3's didn't sound so "loud" anymore. I don't usually do that as i dont want my car to get stolen haha.. but there was noone out there except a few "friends".. But yes.. it makes me happy haha.. They were like um your whole car is shaking and I can feel air moving me outside the door when its open. I'm hoping to upgrade to a 18" BTL and possibly use the same box as it fits the specs for the BTL 18.. but I may go with the 12 btl for space purposes haha. What is the difference really in a 12 vs a 18 btl?? I want the 18 just because its so legit to have an 18" BTL but.. a 12 makes more sense for my cars size, but will I still get same output with the 12?.... ( Even though I do sorta like the wow effect when people see it lol.. they are like is that a 15?.. Im like no.. an 18 they are like what?.. they make a 18's??!!? ) BTW Thank you for making my pics like that !! YOU ROCK! ( I need to learn how.. it must be easy I just was unsure of how to go about it )

I say go ahead and get the BTL's and then you can be "Banging harder than anyone else in the hood" Lol if that is what you really want to do don't stick with SSD's. I have my 18" SSD and its been less than a month and I already want to upgrade to a BTL.

Oooooo I want one! This looks like on of those subs that everyone has to try it at least once. I mean come on, look at it!! I have to try it! It's just so... different It looks like it would be freakin heavy though just because of the size rofl.

I can't wait to see the prices!!! I will have to start saving now for the N2. DREAMIN of the pics and prices !!
