Try it ported for sure. Pretty sure it will suite your needs for being "louder". I had a 12" Q in a 2.5ft^3 box tuned to 32hz. It was very flat and even response.

hey guys... i was just looking around for a HU for next build. and came across the Alpine CDA-117. i see that it has 4v preamp voltage. (F, R, and sub) i like the display... anyone personally use this? any opinions on this? and whats a decent price for this HU new? used? im going to be running (most likely) 2 saz3000Ds 2 18"zcons a 100.4 with 2 sets of Hertz HSK165s. honestly, not sure what i need it to do. :/ i have never really looked into all the filters etc. from what ive heard, 4v preamps>2v. and it does have 4v. Sean, what should i look for in a head unit?

Hey everyone. there are MAJOR storms rolling thru right now. and just wanted to tell everyone to try to stay safe. there was a tornado a mile wide in very north-west GA. we are just now getting heavy rain. golf-ball sized hail or bigger is predicted. multiple tornados in certain areas. so just be careful guys! and while i was typing, 3 trees went down. 1 was completely derooted.

Thanks everyone. Not to bad here. Had about 10-15 trees go down. Fence is destroyed. Grandmas car is at the shop already. Branch went thru the headlight. And hood was dented. Ut we are all ok. So no complaints.

thanks ken. and yea. i saw the tornado... CRAZY shit. houses were just disappearing. i hope it doesnt come this far south. we now have like 7 trees down. 4 more from when i started the thread. ill post pics of all the damage tomorrow. hopefully not too much more.
