    Small VS. Big Aero Ports

The Fi driver is going to move ALOT more air than the Dual driver. I would use the larger port for the Fi driver. Various "elbows" and connectors are available, to help fit the longer port inside the box. Aero ports do a great job at reducing port noise, but I think that the smaller port would suffer from unwanted turbulence. The smaller port would probably be OK for the Dual woofer.
  2. In an "active" setup, you'd need an amp/channel for each set of drivers. The crossover section of the amps would be bypassed. Keep in mind that an electronic crossover isn't actually "active", it's just a name that we gave it over time. (3 way "active") = HU > electronic crossover > Low pass to Sub amp > mid (bandpass?) to mid amp > hi pass to tweeter amp. (2 way "active") = HU > electronic crossover > Low pass to sub amp > hi pass to full range amp > "passive" crossover - lows to mid bass drivers - hi pass to tweeters. Alot of amps have built-in crossovers. Most have a set of RCA outputs that you can use to send hi pass signal from your sub amp directly to your full range amp. If you have a deck with only one set of RCA outs, life just got easier for you. I hope this helps.

    Twisted's 3rd Row Wall Build

"...Where's my Bro at??" That's funny. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of this build.
  4. VINCENNES?!? I have relatives in Vincennes.. Is Record Cellar involved? I might just have to arrange a visit.
  5. I have subwoofer "Level Adjust" on my deck. Once I get everything set just right, I leave it alone. Oddly enough, when I bought a Rockford P300.1 a few years ago, the B-Buy sales guy told me that "Even if you never use the bass-knob, hook it up. It just sounds better..Trust me..". I wasn't too sure what to think. I tried it, and didn't hear any difference, unless I turned the thing all the way up. Did his opinion have any validity? One more thing.. I've NEVER been a fan of "Bass Boost" buttons on head units.

    hey fellow bass enthusiasts

Sounds like fun! My son turned 16 in May. He scrounged around in our garage, and has his first setup underway. He found an older Rockford p300.1 and an old Audiobahn AW1200x. When he picks up a car, we'll install everything together. Have fun!

    Calloused ear drums..

Howdy folks! My name is Ken, and I'm from Ada, Michigan. At 41 I've seen and heard alot in car audio. I spent a few years installing in local shops and in my garage. My first system consisted of: a Hitachi 321AR tape deck. a Concord CA30-4 amp, a pair of Polk 6x9's in the rear deck, and a pair of Bazooka 6 1/2" Bass Tubes in the trunk. That stuff was transported in a '77 Chrysler Cordoba (I was 18..). These days, I roll around in a 2006 KIA Spectra. I'm constantly experimenting with my gear, trying new ideas and components. Drives my wife up a wall. I currently have an older Panasonic CD player (5 volt outs), an OLD Ultimate Sound US2125 pushing my MB Quart 6 1/2" separates up front (crossovers in the glovebox..), I just recieved a Cadence ZRS7000d amp, and I'm sending my Cadence WB15-4 sub to fixmyspeaker dot com for a rebuild (although I'm open to subwoofer suggestions from you guys..). As I get older, and do more with my car, I enjoy my system more every day. It's my release after work, and I look forward to slapping in a new CD. I'm looking forward to meeting/talking with you guys. Ken Chapin
