tb69396 replied to tb69396's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I went ahead and got a couple of the GT 2125's to go with what I have already and give one to my son to push the E10's. Now on to the box design..... -

Amp for 2 SA E10's

This is all for my son's first car. I'm not getting in deep here for sure because he may have a different car in a year. This is a project that he wants to do so I am going to help him and we will build a box and get some father/son time in. With the GT2125 I think I will only get 200 x 2 out of it becasue of the D4 coils. I can't mono it at 2 ohms with the 2 subs, I have to go 4 ohm or 1 ohm, or 2 ohm stereo. How much power do these subs need to get moving? -
I just bought a couple of SA E10's with Dual 4ohm coils and they will be going in a sealed enclosure. What class D amp would you recommend for around $100? I prefer this route so there are no electrical issues with my son's older car. I also have the option of running some old school amps (Lanzar Opti 100-1ohm stable, Lanzar Plus 100-1/2 ohm stable, Lanzar 240-2 ohm stable) I don't like the idea of using my old amps because I don't want them stolen as they are not easily replaceable. Another option is a new Boston GT2200 or a GT2125. I can buy a new 2125 for under $100 but don't know if it will run these E10's well. the GT2200 is more than I want to spend for him and not a class D amp.

Are these still for sale?

I don't know what happened to my post up there but i was trying to say this. I emailed Argent to see if they could make me something custom. It seems everyone around where I live quit doing custom work and unless I want to spend a lot of time designing, which I don't have, I may end up with a pre-fab. Hopefully Argent says they can.

I think its funny that back in the day I ran a Lanzar Plus 100 to two Soundstream Reference SS10's and killed it with SPL and SQ. Cheater amps were great. If I really need more power than my Lanzar 240 I can always pull out my super old Lanzar 600. I think it was made in 1986 or so. 0.015% distortion at 4 ohms. Pure sound.

I say forget that box and build your own. Using a prefab with any fi sub is just asking for trouble. As for the sub, based on your amp, I'd say the fi x or maby the ssd I keep hearing this about a prefab box, but even if I built one it would not be any different. There is no room back there and I need the seat. I emailed Argent to see if they could make me something custom. The shape wouldent be diferent, it's about the quality of how it's built. Almost all prefabs arenot made well at all. Heck, some don't even use mdf. I got a prefab for a 12 a year or two back and had 200 watts on the sub and the side broke loose after a week. This one is made of 3/4" MDF. Looks like it is built well enough and its cheap. So if it is made well, which sub would sound best in it? You can't base quality on how somthing looks. The box I got, but faild looked well built, but it wasn't. An I can't tell you how it will sound, it's all install dependent. it's up to you what you want to do, I would just not trust a prefab box like that. There are always places like argent audio that Build nice boxes. They make great stuff as I have seen.

I am buying this box and want to know which Fi sub will sound best in this encolsure. I want the best output/best sound combo for 1 12" or 10" I have about 300 watts of clean old school AB power that I will be pushing it with. Here is the link to the enclosure. Subthump
