Mask, fins, and suit if needed. Travel to the caribbean every chance I get. Swimming with sharks and rays to picking conch from the ocean for a fresh dinner, there is nothing better! I've always wanted to go scuba diving. I'm not particularly enamoured with the ocean, but I think diving would be amazing. I don't dive any more, but would like to get back into it. My grandfather was a PADI instructer. Is is easier to snorkle (less equipment) and with long fins I can get down 10-12 ft pretty quick. Snorkeling would be pretty cool too. I've gone before, but never anyplace special

Put a little pressure on the pedal. If the sound goes away, it's the throwout bearing. Do you mean just push down lightly and if it doesn't squeak it's the throwout bearing? Yep. Sorry for being a little slow. No matter how lightly I depress the clutch it squeaks after the clutch is depressed about 2". The squeak continues until the pedal's just over half way depressed and ceases. The squeak happens again in the same "spot" upon release. So, if I'm following along correctly that means it's not the throwout bearing? No, it is. When you put pressure on bearing, i.e. push the pedal down, it stops spinning and the squeak will go away. Sometimes it takes a little pressure, sometimes it takes full pedal travel. It's a very common issue. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it starts to go out, you'll definitely feel it in the pedal. Just be careful though because once you feel more drag on the pedal, the bearing is about to fail and it will do so very quickly. This should occur when the engine is shut off as well, correct? Thanks for the info Ryan, I've been reading around trying to figure out what it might be and couldn't find a clear answer. No. If the engine is not turning, the trans shaft won't be turning and the throwout bearing will be stationary. What vehicle is it? That's strange. The noise occurs when the engine isn't on. Vehicle is a 2002 Nissan Altima. The noise only occurs as the pedal is being engaged. The pedal has to be in motion for the squeak to happen. It's like a squeaky hinge on a door, while you're moving it there's a squeak. It won't squeak on its own while I'm in neutral or if I hold the clutch in partially at a steady point. So the pedal is squeaking? If it was the throwout bearing it would be more like a whine, but could only happen with the vehicle running. If it's just the pedal, it probably needs some lube somewhere in the mechanism or if it's hydraulic, it could be the slave cylinder. Either way, I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you just can't handle the noise. Ok, that's what I needed to know. A lot of threads were saying a squeak could be the throwout bearing and I wasn't sure if that was the case.

Anyone know what might cause a clutch to squeak upon release? It seems to only occur after it's rained. Release bearing maybe?

It hasn't been above freezing here in days. Its 2 degrees out right now. Holy shit! I can't imagine how cold that would be.

18 degrees this morning. Fuck this.

Hope you find something Stefan

I haven't, I've been leery buying one over the internet (ebay), and found a fair amount listed on CL that I could test out. But the thought of buying one from a mac forum is a lot more appealing to me then ebay, so I'll check that out as well, thanks. I would have a similar concern about buying on a forum, but if the person had good feedback I'd consider it. Apple sells refurbished Macs as well. I've heard of people buying used through Powermax too, but have no idea how legit they would be. Just some options. Checked out the apple store and powermax, CL seems to still be cheaper, hopefully I'll be able to test out the keyboard, trackpad, battery life, and be a happy camper. This seems to be perfect if all is well: http://tucson.craigslist.org/sys/2791920828.html The posting is down, but I remember the one you put up a few days ago. I haven't used those MB's, but I like my unibody MBP a lot I checked the Apple store and yeah, there's not much in the way of bargains. I know it updates regularly and I believe they come with a 1 year warranty. Something to think about if you care about that sort of thing. You seem to know computers though so if something did go wrong I'm guessing you'd be able to fix it. Ahh dammit that one sold! Oh well I don't get paid for another week or so any way. Yeah if something does break I can likely replace it. However I'd prefer not dealing with the headache. True They're in CL a ton though so no big deal. Resale is an upside to buying a Mac as well. If you don't like it you should be able to sell it for what you got into it for easily.

This is from a sticky here titled 'Before posting ANY questions' in the General Audio section. Hopefully it will help shed some light on your question regarding sound differences in respect to cone area

Wine is an emulator and there are limitations and, sometimes, complications whenever you're using emulation. If it's just something you use occasionally, emulation is generally sufficient, but if you need to use it several hours every day, those limitations/complications can make things very inefficient and frustrating. What it boils down to is official hardware and software support of most consumer products. Very, very few consumer products support Linux. For the most part, someone somewhere will have developed a method to get it to work, but it's not always in the same capacity as running it in Windows and sometimes more complicated. You have to do your homework before you make purchases for Linux systems. That being said, it's not terribly difficult to learn and there are definite upsides to Linux. Most distributions are free to use, which is a big plus if you build your own machines. You're far less likely to be affected by malicious software while using Linux and Linux is renowned for stability, which can save you time and money. Makes sense. Same principal as running Windows software virtually on a Mac. If it's something you need frequently you're better off using the OS it was meant for. So, when deciding to run Linux it's probably a good idea to check what programs that are important to you for compatibility or alternatives, if I'm understanding correctly.

Stefan, have you looked at the classified sections at any Mac forums for a MacBook? I checked and Mac-Forum has a FS section if you don't have any look on CL. They pop up constantly in my area on CL though so finding one shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks guys. One of these days I might install it on my tower. If I ever needed to reinstall windows or something I'd probably consider trying it.

This is a pretty broad question, but what are the limitations of Linux? I've read around a bit and it seems like most PC operations can be performed on a machine running Linux through Wine etc, correct? Just curious.

Yes I want to do good on the TL. but I chose 32-34 because I love my lows to. I dont wanna tune to high I want the best of both worlds. So I figured tuning around there would be just right and it will still do a good late 140 on the TL. Don't forget about the transfer function It's difficult to make any sort of tuning recommendation based on the info given. That said, generally I would be wary of any low tuning recommendations you receive. Cabin gain will likely reinforce the low end significantly so tuning that low may result in a bloated low end.

Several members have taken the time to explain why that "tool" is useless in an attempt to save you some money. Personally, I'd call that helpful. If you really want one you should look on the board owned by the company which produces the DD-1.

Just finished an 8 hour day of boarding. The weather was so nice.

I remember seeing somewhere that new Garmin units come with lifetime maps updates for free too. If that's still the case it's worth looking into.
-
Definitely. I'm loving this weather.

I've had packages take 4 days to get to me in Cincy from Cleveland.
