  1. I think Kenwood HU's have Garmin based navigation. I would assume if your looking into the navigation aspect they would be a good choice.

    2009 BMW 128i Fi Q 10 Power question

It depends on the size of your alternator and your vehicle. There's really no way to tell. Most people that run that kind of power don't need HO alternators though. The big 3 is always a good idea. I've heard it's a little extra work in some BMW's because of the battery in the trunk. You could also look into a better starting battery and if you needed it run a second battery. Like Watts said get it installed and go from there. Congrats on the system

How did you guys find SSA???

A friend recommended it to me. Easily the best car audio forum out there IMO

    Led lightin help

A friend of mine has a similar kit which is hooked directly to his amp and I think he paid somewhere around $50 for it. So there are definately options out there
  5. The kickpods turned out really well. They look like they came with the car lol. The quality is amazing great build

    OPINIONS NEEDED!!!!

From what you said your looking for the dcons sound like a great choice. Cant really go wrong with an SSA product. The sundown SA series from sundown might be an option to look into as well. I don't know you exact space requirements, but you could get a single 15 as well. Good luck
  7. There are lossless formats that itunes supports when you rip songs from a cd you have to your computer. In that case you can have music on your ipod with "cd quality". I also buy CD's if its an artist I like enough. I never pay for music I download IMO if im going to pay for it I want the physical cd for the quality and I just like having it on disc
  8. Same here Amazon and iTunes. I don't mind paying for the better quality. I try and check with friends to see if they have what I want. Just check the quality of the music before downloading Its what I do. No download has the same quality as a CD, its like, 1/8 of of the original. Theres a thread about MP3's on here, just take a look. I thought that was the point of iTunes. Its not mp3s its AAC format and retains better quality. Valuable information here for you sir. Yeah I have read that over a few times. If i remember right the difference between mp3 and aac is that aacs are compressed as well but can retain the same quality at a smaller size. Both are compressed so will loose some quality...some ppl can hear it some cant
  9. Well dont you need 7zip to uncompress rar files? Which is the typical format for what im assuming you use Or winrar. But I already use the apps for work. Both are simple and free. I use to buy everything through Itunes, but after having to reformat my computer too many times, Apple decided I needed to buy all my music back again... I havent personally tried winrar but I havent used a PC in a long time either. I use stuffit expander now. To the op I wouldnt mess with torrents for music personally unless its like a discography or something. Just use google and find the albums you want on different file hosting sites

    Fi Ear Buds

Yea I think your right lol. Id get them if they did though I heard the ones that DD makes and was dissapointed. S4s sound better at the price range
  12. X3 did you ever say what type of enclosure your running? I just assumed youd be going ported
  13. No you cant really have too much power. Im with everyone else on the amp situation though. Crescendo or Sundown would be your best bet. I know very little about DC amps so I wont comment on that. Like I said you could always wait and see if db-r has anything in stock like a SAZ-1500 or SAZ-2000. The 1500 would be lighter on your electrical and cheaper. They sell sundown amps here at ssa too. Oh and btw you can always get an adapter for that hifonics to run 1/0 awg. Maybe install it for now and save up for a sundown or wait for the crescendo to come out. Or do some research on DC. Like I said as long as its putting out rated power and doesnt heat up or break your fine. A nice amp stays cool, puts out rated power, and is dependable. Cool being a relative term just meaning it wont overheat
  14. I might do a batt but if its in great condition then no Big 3 100% For the gain I know the sub can handle the hifonics amp 2000rms but its probably not even as powerful as they rate it but I'm not gonna set it to spec for gain probably a lil under spec Whats wrong with hifonics? For the price its great $300.00 for a 2000.1 thats what im getting for and I've used crunch amps , hifonics lil bro company , the crunch hit nicely and cleanly. I'll look into welding supply thank you. I can get a RF kit for $120.00 it comes with a anl fuse holder and 20 ft of pure copper 0 awg its Immaculate copper. You don't think 1 15 BTL N2 on 2000rms can set off an alarm???? There's better amps out there than the hifonics, especially for that sub, if it were me I'd upgrade to get the most out of that sub. FYI the amp will have nothing to do with how "nicely and cleanly" the sub will hit. Amps have very little affect if any on sound quality if thats what you meant when you said that. When you're looking into an amp the only things you should really worry about is if it puts out rated power and will be durable. I've known someone who had one and it did neither, but thats completely subjective and irrelevant. Anyway that alt may be 160 amp but at how many rpms? I doubt it does that at anything below 4k but im no expert on this. I'd definately get a better battery and maybe even a second one. To answer your car alarm question.....I wouldnt worry about that lol just worry about if it will meet your needs. Good luck man I cant really afford anything other than the hifonics, ill have a 2 yr warrenty with it and there descent amps. Idk about the alt I need to check and make sure I might call bmw and ask. I understand. If your on a budget db-r does have sundown refurb amps which would save you some money. You should be alright with that hifonics but I would definately upgrade at least your stock battery. Most ppl running that much power use a second battery otherwise you could be starving that amp and it may harm it.

    15" fi btl enclosure help

For rap you should be fine at 32. I personally tuned to 35 but its all preference. Theres lots of info on that here just search around

    15" fi btl enclosure help

SSA has some dimensions as well. Under the tech tab at the top. Theyre all tuned to 30hz if I remember right. You dont necessarily have to tune to 33hz like the cut sheets say its really your preference

    15" fi btl enclosure help

The Fi cutsheets here on this forum might be someplace to start BTL Cutsheets thats 4.0 ft^3 @ 32hz. Might be what your looking for.

    Set up

I wouldnt buy wiring from ebay because its most likely to be cca but im sure itll say if it is or not. I just would rather have pure copper wire. You should be fine with just 4awg too. knu or welding supply. What kind of amp are you looking into

BL or BTL for this amp..

Yea 4 cu ft seems alittle big for a single 12 dont they reccomend 3-5 for a 15? Im no expert so im not disagreeing with him or anything im just wondering. Anyway to the op I still think you should measure that trunk and see if you can fit a 15. Fi has some cut sheets posted on here you should take a look at and see if you can fit the reccomended enclosure for the 15 bl or btl. (i know theres one for the bl....cant remember if ones posted for the btl)
  22. Luke.H

just a little overboard on this build

Sounds like itll be a nice system. Wish I had room for an 18 lol. Tuned in for sure

BL or BTL for this amp..

oh I definitely understand that. Just said that because I'm lazy when it comes to building stuff lol. I don't mind spending though. Trunk is pretty big but I don't know about 4 cubes. The 12 is recommended at 2.5 right? I'll check the dimensions. No I meant most 15s require somewhere in the neighborhood of 3-5 cubes. A 12 wouldnt need that much. But by the sound of things BTL all the way. N2 right? You mentioned its for music so im assuming thats the one you would choose
  24. Luke.H

BL or BTL for this amp..

What are your trunk dimensions? If you can fit a 15 do it if its output your after. Youd need somewhere around 4 cubes depending on your choice of sub. I agree with the idea that the btl gives you room to grow.....but you should know its not as easy as just swapping in a more powerful amp. Youd need some electrical upgrades to go with a more powerful amp which can be costly. Just something to think about. Good luck with the setup

    A few questions about subs.

Theres this thread on here......T/S Parameters explained but it doesnt really explain how to use them. Impious always does a really good job of explaining that sort of thing if you ask me so his write up would be excellent. Either way that thread was pretty informative
