You should link the thread where you asked for help originally so people can see what it is you did and didn't try

There was a thread here awhile back where a guy was asking if he should get another w7 or switch to a different sub and the SA-12 was recommended. You may want to look into that. But if you have the room for a box for 2 ported 12's why not just port a single 15? Everyone who has an XCON seems to love it and if your concerned about lows from what I've heard the XCON is the way to go. Just search around there's tons of happy owners
-
What would you have recommended? Just curious
-
Icons are great subs. They are out of stock currently so you'd have to wait on them. It's also been mentioned in this thread that you cant really underpower a sub so if you wanted Q's you could. Icons are 1000W too btw. Like I said the SA-12 might be a nice choice or a single 15 XCON
-
From what I've heard the SA-12's can sound pretty good. That might not be a bad choice. Like I said before in theory the 2 12's are louder, but the difference might not even be audible if anything at all. If the BL isn't loud enough the only thing that would be a significant improvement in output would require more power. So is it the sound of the W7's you want or more output? What sort of box was that JL in and what was powering it
-
It's hard to say if 2 12's will get louder. I honestly don't see a ZCON getting much louder than a BL on the same power. That would depend on efficiency more than anything. I think the XCON could potentially sound closer to your W7 being that it is more of a sound quality sub with the ability to get loud rather than the ZCON which is a SPL sub that can sound good. If that makes sense

It's still dependent on the amp. Like if you were running a 2KW amp 0awg would be a necessity. Generally speaking if the amp is rated at 1000W you can get away with 4awg, but it doesn't hurt to use 0awg

X2 and if you've went from 4 subs to 2 subs that quickly I would seriously take a step back and make some more solid plans

I actually didn't see it on Pioneer's site, but found the video I was thinking of at Amazon AVH Ipod Video
-
Did you check piooner's site? If I remember correctly it should be listed there or in one of the videos about that unit.

Bad timing lol I literally just typed out that whole answer. Oh well maybe it will help someone else. Never heard of that amp maybe someone else can weigh in.

He's right. I was going to say the same thing to avoid the "where is my sub" thread. This is the Fi section BTW. There is no reason to post this in here just because the sub is made by Fi. SSA has an amplifier section and you could simply state which sub you have and ask the same question in there. It would get more traffic and possibly help someone later on with the same question because it is in a more logical location. I don't get why this happens in the Fi section so frequently. Anyway as far as amps go....running that AQ at 2 ohm wont make it last longer than at 1ohm if your giving it clean power and use some common sense. Shogen gave you some great recommendations. I was going to recommend finding a used PDX too. Another option is the JL HD1200. Like the PDX it will do 1200 at 1-4ohms. If you can find either for the right price they will suit your needs. Don't be put off by the fact that its JL. They generally have great resale values which is something frequently overlooked.

Voltage meter?
Luke.H replied to [email protected]'s topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
You could just use a DMM. Nothing wrong with a stinger meter, but personally I would rather not be in a situation where I need to constantly monitor my voltage -
Congratulations on the release guys. I'm sure they'll make a lot of people happy

What kind of box did you have for the w7?
-
Sound worlds better? What kind of box are you running the BL in? It should sound fine. Its not an SQ sub by any means, but in the right enclosure it shouldn't sound bad

Thinking about getting these bad boys
Luke.H replied to mariobjones's topic in Automotive and Performance
Haven't looked those over, but typicaly prefabricated projectors have a poor cut off. Check out some reviews if you can like on a grand prix forum. I would be sure they are good before you buy considering a DIY retro is nearly the same cost using high quality parts. -
Team BFF's I'd totally go with that. Build a treehouse with a secret knock and a no girls allowed poster. Do it big

You never mentioned what your goals were, your musical preferences, or space requirements. No one can give you an accurate recommendation without that information. We can take a guess what it is your after running that sort of power but that is vital information to include in a thread like this. I personally doubt you'll find a pair of subs that will take that kind of power and use it well. Anything you find with that budget will likely dissapoint, but without your goals I can't say for sure. Stefan gave you some great advice. Save up for what you really want. Its worth the wait.

I didn't check to see if that was right, but I've heard the same as Sefugi about the RE calculator. The12volt has some handy calculators to use to help you design one yourself if that's the route you're wanting to go. If not there is always lots of people on this forum who offer box designs

Trying to Determine if I should make a switch...
Luke.H replied to GoBigRed313's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
If you build another ported box I would listen to alton and build it to spec. Make sure its a quality box and I think you should be happy. Good luck -
Trying to Determine if I should make a switch...
Luke.H replied to GoBigRed313's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
If I'm not mistaken generally the best way to aim subs/port in a trunk is sub back port back. That doesn't mean this is always the best way, its install dependent. Personally that is the orientation that I have and even with the seats up the sound is fine. Edouble has a build log where he faced his sub firing into the cabin with the box sealing off the trunk, but this required removing the seat. I am not at all familiar with that soundsplinter sub, but depending how well they work sealed this may be the best way for you to go if you really wanted to save space and keep the sub, but you will loose output. I'm also not familiar with that car nor do I know how much space you were looking to save or how much output you are expecting. If you have issues with rattling the only way to really fix that is with sound deadening, placement won't solve the problem. Depending on how well that driver performs sealed and if you don't mind the output that may be a decent way to go. Sorry I couldn't be of more help -
Trying to Determine if I should make a switch...
Luke.H replied to GoBigRed313's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Is your soundspliter currently ported? Could you be a little more specific about your musical preferences and what kind of sound your after. -
If powers the same and your happy with the tuning go for it. Might not hurt to graph it out too, but that shouldn't be the deciding factor. Simple answer is if you were to build a new box for the btl would it be any different? If the same box is optimal then use it. If not I personally would build a new one, but that's my opinion. Good point on the displacent though. When I asked about space I didn't mean would your current box fit I was checking to see if you could potentially fit a larger box if need be

Do you think two SA-15's can handle 2500w rms?
Luke.H replied to Angelboy863's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Honestly I think you might want to do a little more research. Decide what it is you want out of your system and go from there. The NS and SA are very different and generally meant for different uses. I just felt like I should say this so you don't go out and spend your money on the wrong equipment or worse break your new equipment
