Awesome sub man Im sure your gonna love it

Everything looks good so far. What are your goals for this system? Doing anything for the front stage?

Does anyone know how to order a precut/prebuilt box??

X2 you could even have a lumber yard make the cuts for you if you really needed to. Just be patient and put a good effort into it and it will turn out fine -
Its a little different than an engine. If you build up your electrical the way you should it shouldn't drop to unsafe levels and it should stay that way. If you can't afford to power an amp correctly then don't buy that amp, buy a less powerful amp or run less power until you have the electrical to support it. If you have to constantly monitor your voltage you have a problem. Not to mention I find a bright blue meter aesthetically displeasing...but that's irrelevant. Competition use is a different story. I assume that's what you meant by professional. I understand what your saying but hey, your oil pressure SHOULDN'T drop in your car but you still have a gauge. Your temperature SHOULDN'T ever go over the optimal range but you still have a gauge. It's just like anything else it's good to have it to keep an eye on it. If you read my earlier post I stated that it's not there for him to stare at and walk the fine line. The setup he is going to put in should support what he's looking at running with no problems but what if his alt fails? What if a batt shorts? I mean I honestly can't believe that you guys would argue the point of having something like a meter. And your reference to a motor? No it's not so different. It's a tool to monitor what's going on just like any other gauge you have in your car. That wasn't really the point I was making. I'm saying you shouldn't push your equipment to the point where monitoring your voltage is necessary. If you want it to monitor equipment failure far be it from me to stop you. Whatever makes you feel comfortable

Depending on the materials he uses etc that doesn't seem bad. The last box I built cost me about $50 in supplies (mdf, glue, silicone, dowels, screws, and paint), that's excluding carpet.

....I also worked for a drycleaner..... Although I did it for free with a friend and we mainly just made deliveries. My grandpa started one in 1934, so free I understand My grandpa also started one sometime in the 30s and I've worked there as well.

Very nice equipment. Glad you were able to pick out some tweeters for your active set up
-
Why tuned so low? Maybe that's your preference but it is certainly lower than the norm
-
Any 1500W amp is going to "take up a lot of power" at full tilt. It all depends on your listening habits. Don't buy a cap they don't do anything
-
So a smaller box allow the sub to "soak up a little bit more power"...I do not know that!! Thanks! Not necessarily. It's said it will take more power, but you're not throwing that kind of power at that sub. A larger box will generally be more efficient. So just stick to what the manufacturer recommends and you will be fine. IA recommends 2-2.5 cubes so I would stick to that range.

I've never had an HO alternator nor do I have plans to build a system requiring one, but from what I've read DC seems to be the way to go. Check out their section if you have questions someone else can help you out. What is this alternator meant for? If your keeping your BL on that AQ pushing 1200W you might want to try an extra battery before you get a new alternator. Have you monitored your voltage?
-
The write up turned out really good. Should be a nice addition to SSA
-
Remember when I said a few hundred watts isn't going to make an audible difference? Same goes for guessing that your bl is 1200. Why risk it? Output won't be any difference unless you plan on competing and want to score a little higher on the meter. Anyway glad you like your BL. I like mine too lol
-
I'm guessing this is for competition use? Box looks good though
-
Goals? Musical preferences? You said you want it to be loud is that it? Just spl? Do you have the electrical to support running all this power?
-
You would want to use the rating of the BL which is 1000W rather than the amp fyi
-
Good luck with the build

if i use a dmm what kinda numbers am i looking for, i know to turn h/u volume to 3/4 and then slowly turn gain up but when do i know when to stop with the dmm Read this thread. It's mentioned why there is no point in setting your gains to the very edge. You wont be able to hear the difference in output unless you currently have it very low. There's a thread on how to set gains in the amplifier section here if that is how your really want to do it.
-
There would be no reason to set it much higher because the difference in output would be inaudible

JL products can cost a little extra money, but they certainly aren't bad products. Resale value is often overlooked as well. Its really easy to sell a JL sub and you wont loose near as much money on it as you would on something else generally speaking. Anyway I have a BL and in the right box they should sound fine. You haven't said what it is you listen to, but overall I'm happy with how mine sounds. Its not a SQ woofer by any means, but for my tastes it sounds fine.

Car looks good man. Rims aren't my taste, but its a nice car. I vote for the 3 XCONs too since you know you like them and already have 2

Good god that guy's running a lot of power
