  1. In my opinion you need to seriously reconsider this plan. You're wanting to run too much power to that sub and are planning on doing it without the necessary electrical upgrades. I don't think it will turn out well

bandpass enclosure for custom nightshade 10"?

It doesn't really sound like a good candidate for a bandpass to me. The frequency range you are after is fairly wide and typically a bandpass plays within a narrow range. I think you would be better off with a simple 4th Order Vented alignment. If you're concerned about vibrations you should install some deadener. There will always be vibrations present no matter what the orientation of your subs.

    amp suggestions

Are you competing? If not I don't see any reason to run so much power to those subs....especially at .5ohms. If this is for daily you should reconsider.

bandpass enclosure for custom nightshade 10"?

What makes you want a bandpass enclosure? It might be the right choice depending on your goals, but you should be sure about that before building one. Do you have the space for one?

    HDC3 15 ??

I'm guessing that's the total space in the cargo area or is that useable space he's willing to fill with a box? I'd get more cone area if he really does have that kinda room. A BL would be a good choice if he was wanting to stick to a single 15 although the BL would be at the higher end of his budget. If he's got room for the 18 he should go that route IMO or two less expensive 15s.

    icon 12"

Going from wanting to buy an icon to wanting a zcon is a pretty big leap. What exactly are you looking for? Also, just buy a sub that fits your goals don't have altered to do so.

Sad thing is I've seen people do that. I've also seen resumes printed in purple ink.

I am about ready to order

I would start by building your own enclosure over purchasing one from ebay. In all likelihood the build quality will be sub par. I think the cutout on the box you posted was 11" so you would have to buy the 12 for it to work in that box anyway. Depending on your goals the X could be a good choice for your system. They are nice budget subs. The Dcon is another great budget sub. My advice is to measure how much space you have to work with and list some goals. If you've got the room a ported box might be a better option depending on your goals. I think that amp is a little more than you need but if you're careful you could power an X on an amp like that. Personally, I wouldn't buy a Hifonics amp. For the same money I would find a used amp of higher quality. I think you could find something more reliable for around the same money. It doesn't need to be as powerful.

    HDC3 15 ??

You won't find many people saying they produce decent sound. They're peaky subs that's just the way it is. If he wants something that sounds better he should keep looking

which FI sub should i get?

If you had a SSF you wouldnt need the fmods. How are you going to turn something off that you dont have? lol I think he's saying he has a SSF, but its not adjustable. So you turn it on and its set to say 30HZ, but you can't change it. Its either on or off. OP if this is the case you would switch your SSF off. What is your SSF fixed at? Did you mention this to Fi?
  17. The fiberglassing turned out really well. I can't wait to see how it looks with that port. Keep up the good work

    decision on subs

The difference in cone area between two 12's and a 15 is negligible. You would have more power handling between two Xcons, but you never mentioned what amp you plan on using so I don't know if you'll need it. If you've got stock electrical you won't be able to send that much power to them anyway so a single 15 would be fine. The Xcon is a good choice for what you're looking for from what I can tell.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Not as good as the first, but worthy of a rental X2 I liked it but not quite as much as the first, I think the Willem Dafoe/Julie Benz swap kinda killed it. She was ok but I missed Smecker. I guess I'll have to rent it one of then. Thanks for the advice

  21. Call Ascendant and ask. You need to call them anyway to locate a dealer and get a price.

which FI sub should i get?

would 810watts be enough for the BL tho? There is no such thing as under powering a sub.
  23. For a pair of SA's either of those will put out plenty of power. I wouldn't worry about which will put out more either because the difference is so small it won't be audible. I would focus on availability, price, and reliability. As stated Crescendo is relatively new so they're not as proven in terms of reliability. The Sundown is the cheaper of the two and has proven reliability so it gets my vote.

    would you buy this?

I live in Cincinnati and our winters produce some pretty nasty driving conditions. That said I drove around for the majority of last winter in RWD cars without snow tires. I never had much of a problem. If it's horrible out even 4WD isn't going to be all that beneficial. My advice is get snow tires if the driving conditions are truly unbearable. You never mentioned a budget for a winter beater car, but if I had to recommend something based roughly on the cost of that Tahoe I'd say a first gen Impreza RS. That's just me though. I'm not fond of SUV's. I'm also not fond of GM. As Sean has stated the rims indicate a poor owner. At any rate I'd just get snow tires and call it a day. Why spend all that money on a second vehicle if you don't need to. Other than the initial cost of the vehicle you've got insurance and maintenance etc etc.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Sorry to hear about the rough test on the BU, but that's why you flew out there to test it so good thing you did. I've seen similar problems to what you're describing on a trade in and it turned out to be a fuel pump. I'm probably missing something here, but did you end up buying that boat or are you waiting to make a decision? As for the differences I'm glad you like the BU seeing how you will be able to find one used for a better price. I know how the market is on MC's it's a little pucking ridiculous. I am surprised about the outcome though. I've never been in that model Malibu so I like hearing the difference. It's been awhile since I've been on a 25, but I'm surprised by the difference in wake. Impressive on the Malibu's part. We rarely fill up the fat sacks when we go out because it's a bit of a hassle for one day of riding and I'm generally happy with the wake so if that Malibu is throwing up an even nice wake without it that's damn impressive. I normally wakeboard over wakesurf though so my opinion the wake is going to be slightly different from that of someone wakesurfing. I've seen what you mean about the flat hull. If that's what suits the body of water you're going to be out on then it'll be a big advantage. You mentioned having a slip, the flat hull will be nice for that. It sounds like the BU is going to fit your needs pretty well so I hope it all works out and you manage to get set up and out there enjoying your boat before summer ends
