    whatt to dooo?!?

the specs are... 30 1/2"L 17"tall 15" deep. and all walls are double thick mdf so each wall is 1.5" thich Need to know tuning too. There's also no reason to double up the walls. Just proper bracing and a double baffle. For future reference. Either way from what you're describing it's creating a peaky response. At least that's what I'm assuming when you say they don't "dig deep" or whatever.

Were you on vacation there or something? You should have taken the picture anyway. It would have made for an awkward conversation the next time you bumped into him

I'm fuckin jealous. I need a new phone badly. Getting an iPhone soon . Not my first choice, but seeing how I can jailbreak it and use it without a data plan it's an easy choice. Sick of shelling out so much money every month for data.
  6. You never said if the factory speakers are amplified. The distortion is most likely due to pushing the factory HU beyond its limits. I don't think new speakers would remedy this problem. You could buy a used 2 channel amp for fairly cheap and run a set of decent 6.5's up front and just leave the speakers in the back as rear fill. I'm not aware of any decent 6x9's so you would want to make or purchase an adapter to fit them in the front door. A baffle is a prerequisite for any install so you'd need something like that anyway.

Sounds to me like your current box is peaky. I suspect the HCCA's are playing a role in this as well, but with good box design you can overcome that to an extent. What's the specs of your current box. It looks like it needs more port area from the picture in your avatar, but I can't say for sure just looking at the picture. A larger box tuned lower will help out on the low end. As many have stated you really should do a little more research in box design.

Want to upgrade from a 12" to two 12"

First of all you really shouldn't be using youtube in any way to aid in your decision. It will only mislead you. I agree with Stefan as well. The SA series and the VVX weren't designed with sound quality in mind. You might hear that they sound fine to some, but that is subjective. They are a little peaky compared to an Icon or even an SSD. That is actually desirable if you have SPL in mind and they're certainly not overly peaky. I'm not trying to put those drivers down whatsoever, just saying they are more SPL oriented. For what you want I'd wait for either the Icon to come back or get an SSD.
  11. I'm a little confused on what your factory lay out is for the front doors. Are there 3 6x9's in there? That doesn't seem right, but it seems to be what you're inferring. At any rate, it's a waste of money to buy any high end speakers if you're running them off head unit power. I'm not sure if your car has an external amp or not, knowing that might help. Another thing is that without sound deadening you won't get much out of whatever you decide to put in your doors so again without this I wouldn't spend much money on speakers. I don't think you will see much of an improvement by simply replacing the factory speakers honestly.

    whatt to dooo?!?

So you're saying your single 12 is louder than two 15's on the same power? Either your HCCA defies the laws of physics or something was off on the install. I'm not entirely sure what you're goals are. If you want more output or better low end extension first try to build a new box. If that doesn't work try new equipment.

    Question on Amp

No reason to buy something like that. Even if you don't need it to do rated power. May as well spend roughly the same money on something that puts out less power, but will be reliable.

X2 And for god sakes take it easy with the caps lock. By the way it's tomorrow not tommarrow. I hate to be that guy, but honestly.
  21. That's why this thread looked so familiar.....
  22. Those two things don't really go together. Why are you wanting to send your components lots of power? I'm assuming you will be running passive. This Zaph ZA5 might be a decent option. I haven't heard much about the kit, but I know those tweeters are pretty nice as are the mids. I have a feeling those crossovers will also trump the offerings of most car audio companies. They're worth researching IMO.

I'm taking some vacation time next week too. Can't wait

    Shallow Component Set

RMS ratings are fairly useless for mids in a car audio enviroment. It won't tell you how loud they will get or how much power to send them.
  25. I think it will come down to how hot it really is getting in that trunk. Like Stefan said, a quality amp can handle a fair ammount of heat. My SAX is mounted behind my seat in my trunk and has never been hot to the touch. If the OP's trunk is getting unreasonably hot the amp is not at fault, but if it is within reasonable (albeit warm) temperatures an amp that handles heat better could potentialy be necessary. As jay-cee has stated, you're better off trying to improve cooling before looking into a different amp.
