Over the MB? MB has a massive edge style wise IMO Me thinks you should go drive a Q7. WOW. audi design is king right now. It's too bad they overcharge for it. like WAY overcharge. I believe they're nice cars, I just don't care for the styling. You should drive one. There is a reason that they are currently benchmarking them at both Mercedes and BMW. Wish I could, but I doubt it will happen anytime soon. Audis are bringing in absurd ammounts of money at auction right now. Too many franchises are hiring morons to bring home set ammounts of cars no matter the cost and they've all got their eyes on sleds like that. If one comes in through trade I'll take it for the week to make sure it's in good shape

I'm not torn, lol. Hate the girll. Part of it has to do with the people who typically drive them. Clouds my judgement I guess. I'm surprised as hell by those weight figures. What can I say, I was wrong about diesels. Next time I'm bringing cars back from an auction and we get a diesel I'll give it another chance

I think most of my concerns about diesels would be resolved by driving a well designed one. M5 diesel looks cool

Diesels thrive at Le Mans so I suppose I can see how a good one can offer numerous advantages over gasoline with minimal trade offs

I know diesels don't rev as high as a gasoline engine, I was saying the powerband is much narrower (in my very limited experience). The torque is pretty ideal for cruising, but it just seems like when you want to really go you get hit with all the power for a brief moment and its gone and time to shift again. Just my experience. I could be way off I'm not dissagreeing, just interested to hear how these problems are overcome. Or if those problems are non existant/irrelevant. When I said designed around the platform I meant it was designed specifically to be used with a diesel. Rather than converted from a standard sedan.

Guess I need to drive more diesels. Driven a Jetta TDI and it sounded like a tractor. I agree torque>hp, but in that car the delivery wasn't at all smooth. It only made power on the low end and was out of juice around 4k. Shouldn't base my assumption on the few diesels I've driven/ridden in though. Is the added weight at the front end not an issue? The engine blocks on a diesel are much heavier and I've always been under the assumption it took away from the handling unless the car was specifically designed around the diesel platform.

Diesel cars are another rarity here. Less dissapointed about that one. Great mileage etc, but the noise and power delivery are deal breakers.

GM's shitty vehicles played a role in contributing to its current state, but its legacy costs were the largest factor if you ask me.

Looking for new system for my s10

It sounds like a pair of Dcons would fit the bill pretty well, as would X's. Build the right enclosure and they should meet your goals perfectly.

I can't wait to get a Hurst short shift for the Heep... Manual transmissions are more common in Europe, no? Seems like more of the average cars tested on Top Gear are available in manual transmissions whereas here most aren't if they are that model is fairly rare. Yes; fat, lazy Americans are too busy talking and texting on their phones to shift, and most wouldn't know how to do it anyways. True enough. Very few of my friends are able to do it. Can be a bitch if I need someone to drive me home
  18. Hence my recommendation of the HPF's. Regularly bought and sold on civic forums. I still wouldn't spend my money that way, but if you feel the need it is after all your car. Mugen rims will cost a pretty penny as well, but if purchased used the depreciation is slight.

To Quote Jeremy Clarkson, "Stupid flappy-paddle gearbox." I haven't had a chance to try a good one, but it just seems like it wouldn't be the same as a standard manual. I understand the performance benefits, but at a certain point I feel like all the assistance would take away from the experience I've got "paddles" (push buttons on the wheel) and while it shifts NOW when you press them the excitement isn't there and realistically it is faster as expected if you just let the computer do its thing. Only real use for them is if you want to hold a gear, but then in the ML you don't even need to go to full manual mode but just choose the top gear you want it to run up to in Automatic. I've driven cars like that and yes, it's not at all the same. Neither is tiptronic. I would imagine something like a California with a double clutch system would make the benefits more apparent and consequently enjoyable, but I'd rather have a traditional manual transmission any day. Given the choice to drive an F40 or an Enzo I'd choose the F40 any day. Just looks like a lot more fun

Speed's only available in the top two packages. It's a joke really as that is the only damn channel I want. If I could somehow view F1 races without Speed, I would get rid of the satellite all-together. I wanted Speed for the same reason. I don't follow F1 too regularly, but I really like watching the occasional race

It's a shame that proper manual transmissions are becoming such a rare thing
  25. I don't like the idea of putting rims on a civic personally. If I were to do it I guess I'd try to find some HFP rims from an Si. That way it stays OEM.
