Thanks for the warm welcome from all. finally got the first round of pix worked out. Too bad I did all my deadening and final installation at night so I couldn't get any good pix but I'm going to go back through and get shots of everything that doesn't require too much disassembly. I agree the tar product for sound deadening is not the best but I haven't had any problems with smell and i sealed all the seams with aluminum duct tape so no gooey messes. Its my first time working with any "deadening" anyway so I'm learning... I can say the hair mat and foam combo has made a quite noticeable difference in road noise though. I'm not as certain about the tar wrap though because it was installed at the same time as the hair mat and foam but only to the rear deck and fender areas so far. Besides two strips over where the exhaust is routed on the floor... The next step is to finish the shrink wrap then its on to the front stage components and deadening the doors and roof panel. Too bad I blew my baby up already so the subs out for the time being. Totally my fault though, being careless... I'm leaning towards getting it reconed to a 15 inch. I think it could give me that little extra output I'm looking for. Of course that takes priority right now so there probably wont be much progress for a bit but I will definitely be posting more pictures soon. any and all responses appreciated! most of the pix explain themselves but this is a shot inside the port showing the tee nuts for the amp: the back of the box before carpet showing the amp mount holes and the bracket bolts to mount the box to the floor: only finished shots thus far: box build: test fitting the port: home made jig of sorts: better than a jig saw: test fit front panel: big three: all soldered connectors but stock battery terminals and cheap battery & stock alternator lol. so far... all stock btw... custom trunk floor: diy found on civic forums, the floor just allows easy access to the spare and perfect tool storage. securing the carpet: hinges hidden pretty well: ripped some 3/4 in mdf in half to add those blocks under the floor so it sits more level in the trunk

I'm new to the SSA forum, posting from San Antonio, TX. I recently installed a 12 inch Xcon d1 in my civic, thought I'd let you guys check it out... So far Ive installed a new head unit, sub and amp, speaker amp and 6x9's in the rear, custom trunk floor and "the big three". I've also "sound deadened" the rear deck, rear quarter panels (two door civic), rear pillars and floor with a mix of a quick roof type product, some carpet padding called hair mat and typical 3/4 in" open celled carpet foam. Unfortunately I didn't get any good pix of the deadening installation so I'll post what I have so far. Its mostly box build pix and my custom trunk floor but I'll definitely post progress and new pix when their taken... The equipment I'm running right now is:- head: pioneer Avic-u310bt (double din) sub: SSA Xcon 12" d1 sub amp: alpine mrp-m2000 2 ohm stable at 2000w speaker amp: RF prime 300.4 rear speakers: infinity kappa 6x9 2 ways front speakers & tweets: stock pioneers sub box: 2.9 cubes @ 29 hz 3/4 MDF w/ slanted slot port & black carpet wiring: monster cable 0 gauge, knuconcepts rca's and 12 gauge sub wire sound deadening: scavenged edit: picture uploads not currently working so I'll get them up soon...
