  1. the amps have not been boomerangs for us. they stay sold. but they are not nearly as powerful as they claim. the 600.2 with 50A of fuses is probably 500W rms at best...still not bad for a set of M12 or even M15's if you have too. we've used the 400.2 on a couple of 2xl comps also. even the 300.2 can get a pair of the S12's moving in an S10 blazer in a sealed box. But a 600.2 in a prefab ported box can really REALLY make the S12's come alive. still not really impressed with the M series of subs. I've heard the M10s sealed on a 600.2--didn't care for it. I've ran the M15's off my XA1500d and it didn't even come close to the ES15Dv2 i run. also heard the M15 in a few other applications and it just didn't wow me at all. I have not yet heard the mono block ASA amps. but given the over rated ness of the 2 channel amps, i'm kinda staying away from the mono amps.

yeah. we've got the XL's in stock and they are much, much better looking in person than in the catalog. we've seen the 2XL and are eagerly awaiting on their arrival to our store. i'm sure the 3XL is a freakin' beast...but not much need for it right now in our retail store. well, maybe one just to get the high school kids salivating.

i'm not much of a competitor. but i thought the XS series was the choice of most competitors last i checked on termpro. couldn't find much info on the Evolution series...which IS the Xtreme line's entry level sub. unforturnately, i'm not on top of the Memphis line-up to know how the M3's stack up to the ES. I thought i've heard that last year's PB Blacks were comparable to a Memphis PR. IMO, the PB Blacks and the ES are not MILES apart...ES15DV2 is only a 500W rms sub--maybe even 450W.

    PowerBass vs. Memphis

I don't know the full story on Memphis. But I'm very, very curious as to how PowerBass stacks up to them now, and how they will stack up in the future. Memphis seems to me to be a bread-and-butter brand that many small independent shops can push without any concern that the stuff will pop up on the internet or in a big-box store. We've been selling PowerBass (AutoSound and Xtreme) for about 2 years now. We've worked really hard to emphasize the value and performance of their subs, coaxials, components, and now autosound amplifiers vs. other brands. I've told customers of the PowerBass Xtreme competitors and their history of building equipment for other brands such as Memphis. I've been fairly satisfied at the lack of Xtreme products available on the net/ebay. I also don't think anyone else here in Columbus is selling PowerBass, or is as deep into PowerBass as we are. But I would like to know how it currently stacks up to say Memphis and how it will stack up to them in the future.

Soundstream 1700d? if that means 1700W rms a pair, i'd say slow your roll. for a daily driver, i use 2 of those subs in a 6cuft ported box and I have to say they are properly rated. I have them connected to an XA1500d. I don't know exactly what the 1500d puts out (some lit says 1500RMS, other lit says 1250 RMS), but i DO NOT have the full brunt of that amp going to those subs. I've put an Oscope on the amp to verify my gain settings and i still had significant unclipped power available in that amp from where i normally run it at daily. I bet a pair of XA900d would be plenty on the 4 of those. but if you already have the SoundStream amps, then just be careful with the power you actually send to those subs. BTW, I love them!
  7. We're selling the heck out of these long-awaited amps. But we haven't had a chance to actually hear any of the 2-channel amps on any subs yet. We stock the 200.2, 400.2, and 600.2. The amps have been very, very well received. But all our sales so far have been over-the-counter sales. Haven't actually had a chance to see how they compare to say the XTA series from SoundStream that we had prior to the release of the AutoSound amplifiers. Any dissappointments or surprises with the ASA amps? Any expected availability date on the ASA 1000.1 and 2000.1 amps?
