I'm really interested in trying some too The problem I'm seeing (and I'm sure will be cleared up in time) is the blurred lines making it difficult to make a choice. It's always easy to make recommendations on others purchases, but harder to pull the trigger when it's your own bank account taking the hit. It seems the N3 is still a little ways off from production, and I understand it is geared more towards SPL, but will it still be acceptable as a daily sub or more like the SPL version of the Gen 2? I remember when people told me the BTL wasn't a very good daily sub around the time it was released, but it's one of the most popular subs for daily use in the 2000 watt up range now- at least among those who know about it. Will the N3 be more along the recommendations of the original BTL, or is it a true SPL sub that's best left to competitors with one note wonders? Just wondering if I should place my order for some N2s or wait for the N3 In the BTL history thread Scott said that the N2 would perform mostly like the 2nd gen BTL which leads me to believe that this one is the Higher powered daily oriented driver. He said the n3 is even more geared to SPL than the 1st and 2nd gen BTL and not so much a daily driver like the 2nd gen BTL.

I'm thinking about the N1 Instead of a BL.

Hello SSA Best 12 inch sub + box for dubstep under 200$
Hzd Skizzy replied to macdoogle's topic in Newbie Sign IN
For a subwoofer suggestion, Sa-12 or Fi SSD. Sa-12 can go in smaller applications. It would only need a box that is 1.75cuft tuned to say 35 hz. -
Id run it at 1 ohm and be very conservative on the gains. For the box, .6-.8 per sa-8. Make sure you set your ssf right and bass boost on 0.

WTF? Not at all. Even with only 1w the BTL will be louder than any other sub Fi makes with 1w. Really simple. The BTL is made to get the loudest out of all of them, but indeed the enclosure makes WAY more difference than splitting hairs on the driver. edit: note I didn't say you can't get loud with the Icons, just was addressing the idiotic statement in bold I think Bimmerboy had the idea that the OP was going to power the BTL with at least the RMS of the sub, and not just 1w. In which case he would need to spend more money on electrical upgrades. You would use almost the same amount of power on 2 SSA Icons vs 1 Fi BTL, so regardless M5 was right. He is right about what he said, never said he was wrong, but i was just clearing up something. I'm pretty sure BimmerBoy had the idea that the OP was going to use 2000watts in his system.

Q is a sound quality based woofer. It's for people who want the greatest sound quality and get loud at the same time. The BL is a lower powered BTL. It will get really loud and still have decent sound quality but not compared to the sound quality of the Q. I would honestly go with 2 fully loaded SSD 12's. Just because you have the option of going sealed or ported. BL ported ONLY. Q Sealed or Ported Hope this helped!

more batteries or more alts

That's going in my sig because that's funny. Anyways. I would just get the alternator so you'll be prepared for more upgrades down the road. -
Usually subs up port back will have more output in a hatchback style vehicle but really no one will know until you try it in your car or unless someone here has the same exact setup and car that can give you input. I don't think there will be a night and day difference with this type of setup though. I would make a box that is best fit for your space since you would like to keep most of it from what it sounds like.

Look at what Audioque and Sundown has to offer. Good amps that put out rated at 14.4v.

That's highly doubtful that that would be the manufacturers fault. They wouldn't ship out a crap box. Whatever shipping company shipped it is careless. Didn't say it was... I know, I didn't say you said it either.

Bose System..upgrade or no?

He can fit 3.5 cubes before or after displacements? -
You do understand that you are going to have to do a complete upgrade on your electrical system when you get that amp right? 2200 watts is a lot of current being pulled and if you let your voltage drop to low then your not going to have that amp anymore.

I would do what Alton said. Hifonics don't have many good reviews. I heard the old Brutus series were decent but still, they don't seem very well built. I think kicker amps do not have an adjustable subsonic filter which means you would need to get one for it to keep your sub under control. I believe the Aq is for you. Best bang for your buck. It does rated and I've that they are reliable amps.

Alrighty then. It is just that people (from what I have heard) put up to 1800rms on the sub and it goes. Some people as low as 1200rms and it blows but I know that's because they were stupid. Pretty amazing for a Q to run over 3k rms for a year. ppl seriously take these abilities for granted they are little beasts.... Aq2200 all day everyday for over a year and i compete too.. bassrace and spl so... and you never get rated out of an amp due to rise and voltage drop just an FYI ...I'm not saying it can't be done.. I'm saying to run double the rated power to a sub, the person behind the wheel needs to be smart with the knobs. People have blown q's with 1000 watts...and some people can run 2000 watts to a Q. It's a risk you take though.

he said sub facing up Woops, didn't see that. My bad.

If your going to get an 18" woofer don't you need 18 inches of height at least?

FI AUDIO baby!'s Official Question Thread
Hzd Skizzy replied to bassahaulic's topic in General Audio
Now, if you really want to be freakin loud on the outside get a few 3 farad capacitors. They really help. Best thing you can ever buy for your system. -
2.8 is probably for the people that can't fit anything higher. 4.0 cuft probably being optimal.
-
Hmm. That's 1 cuft under recommended but with that power your throwing at it, it should make up for the smaller sized box. I don't think there will be a huge difference in sound.
-
I wasn't mad. I was just saying 3k on 1 Q is tripling the rms rating and that's insane.
