Yup, they are indeed correct. I have all of the thiele/small parameters and enclosure recommendations for Ascendant Audio at home on my laptop and will get those up later tonight.

Haven't seen that show in ages.... Anyways, Aaron had once mentioned that he wanted to do a list of books you must read before you die. I'm not about to start that, but maybe we can get some book discussion going anyways. Here's my collection so far, minus the ~30 Stephen King's I have upstairs. A picture for scale. Now for a few personal favourites. I'm a big Poe fan and have read this collection of his a few times now. Richard Dawkins is famous for his atheist viewpoints and his similar book "The God Delusion". However, I found this one to be more interesting. Guess I didn't get a very close pic of this one, but this is my third time around owning it. Tom Clancy - Rainbow Six. Still some great, great fiction. These last two are very near and dear to my heart. First, a book I highly recommend to anyone who is interested in sound and the production of it. Brian Moore - An Introduction to the Psychology of Hearing And lastly, the ever-popular... Post up what you've got.

So what does this mean to the average JOE? I like reading about all the tech stuff that is involve in the making and tweaking of speakers, but you've lost me with all this tech talk. Is there a way you can explain this for the majority of the people on the forum. By the way, it's great to read stuff like this on the forum. It tells me that some people know what they are talking about, unlike most other forums, where all the concern is..... Is it louder? What's the MAX wattage I can put into this Sub? Not my cup of tea, but I've been there. (late 80's..Mustang hatchback and 2 15'' MTX subs...crazy times)Maybe age has caught up with me. What Scott is basically describing is decreasing both the inductance and inductance variation. The lower inductance is usually good for better transient response (meaning better top-end performance with what is usually considered a more "accurate" or "quicker" sound). The lower inductance variation is good for decreasing distortion. Overall, inductance only counts for roughly less than 10% of the total distortion product (which is why he mentioned there would be no magical changes) but it is a logical improvement to be made. Thanks for the reply Scott. Much appreciated.

Good compromise between lead slap and weakening the spider.

I don't think it's very loud though.

Same here, and that is the 3 month average listed on the alexa.com website.

Get the SAZ-1500D. Maybe it's because I still love that XXX motor....

Couldn't agree more. I have had chocolate and golden labs, loved em both.

Looks awesome.

RE12.1 or ED NINe.1

Well, the Ben Milne story is a long and painful one that I'm not sure is worth going into for the 100th time, particularly on a board that prides itself in mature and ethical behaviour Here is a rather long run-on about some of the eD issues with a fair bit of bickering and some very influential people speaking their minds. http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61209 -
Pacman box? That's a new term to me. Any further explanation possible?

Well that escalated quickly. Deep breathes? Personally, I am not a fan of any of the CDT sets I have heard either, primarily because there has never been enough midbass output to cross over to my substage as I would like. I have heard the ES-620's, HD-62's, and CL-62's (the ones with the titanium tweeters, I think they're TW-25T tweets or something similar). Were they ok to listen to? Sure, but output below 80 Hz is not near enough for me when I need something that will get down to 50 Hz or lower with the best of em. My 2 cents.

That's the current Ascendant Audio website, but you can check out some of the older ones using this: www.webarchive.org

This is why you should be comparing the BL^2/Re value. Even then, the difference is not that much. As for the Vas, there are a little over 28 litres in a cubic foot (28.316 iirc). That should get you started.

even if it would be a horn, i would call that a rear loaded horn. Yup, looks good though!

Hate to be a stickler, but that's a nice flared port.

Wow, thanks for the reminder; I haven't listened to any of their music in 2+ years. Fleetwood Mac - The Chain

Introducing the first SSA subwoofer

Thanks Aaron. Rough estimate is probably better as there are ALWAYS delays and an exact date would just lead to disappointment -

Rough timeline? -
The enclosure will have relatively little effect on upper frequency response; this is mostly controlled by the inductance of the voice coil, which behaves as a low pass filter. A rough calculation of the frequency at which rolloff will begin can be completed using the listed parameters; I'll try to get to this a bit later, but based on the listed inductance (Ls), I don't think roll off will be too much a of a problem for you in that range. It certainly would not be my preference, as I prefer to cross the sub-stage over much, much lower, but it is workable.

Seems awfully silly and like a lot of unnecessary work. -
Tried Alexander Keith's before? Great pale ale.
