The strength of HTS and AVS is far and away their DIY sections. A lot of the other forums on each site are kind of take it or leave it.

Well I guess that's the best way to say "Thanks a lot, kindly go F yourself." As long as you're not too bothered by it. Your posts read like you're really pissed but you don't want to care.

I can't find one that I can really get into, although HomeTheaterShack can be pretty good somedays. I just have to spread my time out amongst DIYaudio, HTS, AVS, AudioCircles, and AudioKarma.

I like a program called Exact Audio Copy...it rips it to .WAV first and then converts it to FLAC. There are others, though. People torrent FLAC albums just as they do MP3 ones, as well... WavPack works well too, encodes a lot faster than FLAC too... WavPack is very good except that it is has very little hardware support and is less traded on the interwebz than, say, FLAC or APE.

Well, you know for sure you'll have to pay 6% GST and possibly the PST depending on the PST regulations in your province. You'll have to pay a brokerage fee as well: Canada post is $5 or $8, while FedEx and UPS are both around $25 if I remember correctly.

Are the graphs you're looking at (both on the BIB site and on zaphaudio) take any form of room gain into account at all? Something worth considering, and with a full range driver (as Jim mentioned) in a TQWT, you are going to have some rippling at low frequencies. Room placement can go a long way to smoothing these frequency response anomalies out. Yes, read QW.com or check out the "Terry Cain's BIB; why does it work?" thread on diyaudio.com. It is a LOT of reading but it is worth the time.

It sounds as if it is just burned as data on the disc, in which case there is no EAC required; it's virtually just a copy and paste dealie from the disc to your target folder. Sweet. One more question you probably know the answer to...I got a bunch of stuff in a CD image format...so there's one huge FLAC file and .cue sheets. How do I go about breaking it up into individual tracks, do I have to burn it to CD using the .cue and rip it like that? I have never encountered that personally but it should work just fine. It depends on how the CD image was burned, of course, but that should work fine.

Dunno what to say, but the Maxxbass system does work and is not like bass boost at all. Where bass boost electronically boosts the signal in a given bandwidth with a specific Q, the Maxxbass system adds upper order harmonics to simulate a fundamental frequency that does not exist....these are two totally different concepts. The idea of a "missing fundamental" is not one that applies to those with poorly trained ears...it is an inborn psychoacoustic effect that varies from person to person.

California is no big thing. You can go just about anywhere and meet a good girl, although the chances of doing so are actually a lot smaller almost anywhere in CA. It might just be me, but I have always enjoyed the company of intelligent midwestern folk. Although I suppose that's because they're the most like me.

In-depth way of calculating the required length of a flared port

Here is the spreadsheet. Thanks for emailing it to me, Rich. -
It might as well stop off here on it's way to you, Mike.

I need a pair.

Good to have some Canadians here. Having a Canadian vendor on board can do that to a forum.

Ahh, that would explain it then.

Listening to brown noise right now.

Jim: I have it in FLAC and will be uploading shortly. My ISP is going to hate me.

It was on OiNK and I'm 99% sure that I have it. Hold on a minute.

Jim: What's your name there and what is the request?

I'm not sure I understand how D2 ohm coils present you with any more of a challenge than a single 4 ohm coil. Wire the D2 in series and you have, for all intents and purposes, a single 4 ohm coil. Unless I'm missing something here.

Join the team, Jim.
